Hello, I'm autistic and ADHD, I'm 24 years old, I've lived alone since I was 15 years old and I still can't deal with a house, I can't keep things clean and that frustrates me a lot, there are days when I stay in bed and do nothing, I'm on vacation and I thought I could try to improve this aspect, but without my special interest, which is the college I'm studying (medicine), I get bored and without any stimulation. 2025.01.19 16:00 jflynn87 Spontaneous foot drop 5 weeks ago, no other symptoms. Any ideas?

A little over a month ago I went to bed feelings completely fine and normal. No signs of pain, weakness, or illness. Just 2 hours later I woke up to foot drop in one leg. Mid-shin down was almost entirely numb and tingling. No other symptoms of any kind. Had extensive blood labs done to rule out auto-immune precursors, blood cancers, etc .. probably 100+ things checked in total in blood panels, MRI of back to rule out nerve compression in lumbar. The next day no mobility improvement but numbness and tingling was almost completely gone. This is really the only progress I have had since as mobility has not noticeably increased. I had a NCV/EMG test performed which confirmed common perineal nerve neuropathy but one month in from the foot drop and feel like I do not know anymore than I knew within 30 minutes of using Google the night this all happened. The NCV/EMG found all other nerves and muscle to be working normally. Still no other symptoms and feel I do not know anymore about underlying cause. Not a leg crosse, did not experience any sort of trauma to leg or knee, knee would have only been on a soft mattress for those two hours. What could this be? Neurologist and Doctor are optimistic it was/is just a pinched nerve in the leg but cannot conclude what caused this. No imaging or knee or brain were ever performed. I am hopeful they are correct, given this happened so instantly with no leading indicators, showed some 24 hour improvement to tingling and numbness, and no worsening of symptoms since. But also being nearly 5 months into this and not having answers is terrifying. Could this be ALS, MS, or some other disease? Is it possible this was a TIA/mini-stroke and I got lucky with just the one symptom? Or does this sound like a simple pinched nerve?
Do not smoke, drink, or take any recreational drugs. Exercise 6 days a week, get in +10K steps daily, drink a gallon of water daily and eat an extremely healthy and clean diet. Generally very healthy otherwise.

2025.01.19 16:00 jyr_ Help! Adopted 8 month cat from animal shelter, and it won't eat/drink!

Hi all, I am a new cat owner to a roughly 8 month old kitten. I say roughly because the animal shelter told me this one was a stray cat, and has a much more timid nature. At the shelter in its crate, he was very receptive to pets, rolled over and allowed his belly to be stroked. Needless to say, I was won over and took him home.
I immediately set out his carrier with his blanket (one he was sent home with), and first brought him into the bathroom and quarantined him there. He was understandably frightened, hid in the corner of the bathroom tub, and we left two sweaters in there (mine and my partner's), along with food, water and litterbox.
I read that it would benefit from having its own space. Poor thing was terrified that it was shaking, but never hissed or showed threatening body language (nothing like arched back, ears back). If anything, that first night, he ventured out of the bathroom, kind of explored, found the mirror and started meowing a lot at his reflection. This was when I approached him, he nudged at my legs and headbutt then and allowed me to pet him, but not my partner.
The next day, he was back to hiding mode, and I live in a 1 bed condo, and the way it's laid out is basically the cat has free reign of the open living room/kitchen space. Bedroom door is always shut. He has since found several hiding spots that he's rotating between. I've moved his food and water bowls closer to those hiding spots, and his litterbox is farther away from those two (from mg research, this is right to do). But- and here's my biggest concern- he has not touched his food bowl and water bowl. Every morning I check his litter box and he peed all nights consistently, but it's also a good stone size. No poo.
We have a vet appointment coming up in 2 days, but I'm worried that he's going through a rough transition period. I've switched out his food from the dry kibble the vet at the animal shelter said he was eating, to a quarter of canned wet food to see if that'll entice him. I've tried giving it the tube treats (churus) but he does not respond and turn his head away from it actually.
What can I do to get my cat to stop his hunger strike???
