2025.01.19 17:34 Squintlet My computer has no display and keyboard doesn’t seem to be recognized
2 days ago I tripped over 2 connected cables to both my USB ports on top/front causing it to move for a few cm’s. The computer turns on and I can see the fan/ LED lights turning on but the display has been gone ever since and my keyboard doesn’t work when connected. I have tried multiple cables/monitors and ports. The keyboard works on another PC. After removing CMOS didn’t do anything either
Strangely it does recognize my mouse so there’s nothing wrong with the ports it self I assume. I couldn’t open the Bios menu due to the keyboard not functioning and the card not having the ability to do a Flash bios. The specs of the pc are: Amd Ryzen 5 1600, Asus Prime A320M-K and Gigabyte GTX 1050. Does anyone know what to do in this case? Someone built me this PC approx. 5 years ago. So I’m kinda new to this.

I only recently started to rebuild my 1party nintendo collection and stupid me googled some ways to make me have anxiety... i read abot cartridge lifespan and now im worried all my games will just wither in 20 years even when kept in dry secure place
is it something to worry about (backup paranoia) or just forget about it?

I've been watching this sub and the actions of participants for a good while and I noticed some problematic things that could be harmful to people that struggle with mental health.
- This sub is riddled with group think and clicquesh antics. There's bully type of actions. I've seen people get picked apart for going against the grain of the sub or what they don't agree with unreasonably. That's very harmful for people dealing with mental health struggles.
- You are picked apart for having a different opinion than the norm. I'm on a few subs and this by far is the most downvotingest one. A mental health forum should be welcoming and supportive not toxic. This is very harmful to people that might be dealing with me take health struggles.
- There is a ton of misinformation, misinterpretations, and accusing. I've seen people with concerns be insulted and provoked. There's also a lot of attacking and targeting individuals who don't go toward the status quo. Not very supportive or helpful. This could be very damaging to a person that might be struggling with mental health issues.
- The elitists and narcissists run the forum. It's all about them. Every subject turns to what happens to them. Any body else with a different ideal or point if view is harassed, questioned, down voted made to feel less than. They will falsely diagnose or insult you if you don't buy into their views.

i've got a bunch of anime that i downloaded back in the yesteryear while they were broadcasting (in japan). all are, i suppose, tv rips. Some of them i even bought pirated on dvd-r before internet came to my country (talking pre-2003, the year when we got ISDN internet and managed to actually download something over the internet). streaming sites almost didn't exist back then, but there were direct download sites which would re-encode episodes into rmvb format to 40-50MB files, which were much easier to get over 64-128kbit phone lines. let's not talk about that dark era. some of those titles i kept downloading as they were releasing over the course of the years (like naruto, which i grew up with, or bleach, zoids genesis, etc). other like escaflowne , berserk or hunter x hunter i bought pirated. so, those all began as 512x384 or 640x480 divx / xvid tv rips. would you / do you re-download such anime, even knowing they were never made in "hd", they just released them properly from SD master? i personally - don't. as those re-releases are mostly cut in 16:9, while original was in 4:3. but would like to hear what you guys do.

I know that this sub has mostly sci-fi and fantasy fans here and I dont expect a large degree of interest, but for those here that like literary philosophical fiction I was wondering if this is a book only I find worth writing.
Not Really Living is a realistic and nuanced portrayal of a young man caught in the grip of the male loneliness epidemic. Detached from meaningful connection, he navigates a world marked by societal decay while searching for value in his existence. The story examines isolation, existential frustration, and the quiet struggle to find purpose in a fragmented society.
Regardless, I am fairly far along with this book and I am going to see it done, just curious if it was something others might want to see when it is.

I'm guessing this is a common type of question recently. But I think missing a generation was a good idea for me, being on a 3090ti. But now I think it's time, though I don't think I can quite justify £2000 for the full 5090! So at a 'decent' price in comparison, I'm considering goiNg for the imenent 5080. My only reservations are the 16GB VRAM. I know it's faster bandwidth etc. But just worried about games hitting this limit pretty soon?? Am I overthinking it? Also, is there anything else I should consider? E.g. only the 5090 would make the switch worth it.
