2025.01.19 18:51 4ofclubs Unique scam? Please offer insight.
The other night at around 2am I was [drunkenly] requesting an uber ride home.
A driver agreed to pick me up, with a chinese name/photo (important for the story, I swear.)
I suddenly keep getting calls from some random number, saying it's my uber driver (in a heavy indian accent) asking for my phone number and name for pick up.
I'm like why? He's like please do it. I assumed maybe it was an operator.
Then I give it to him, he disconnects twice and calls me back instantly.
I then get a text for my "uber code" and he asked for my code.
I said no, why does he need it, he said "I need it to pick you up, tell me the code."
It's obviously my password reset code, so I said no absolutely not, this is a scam, fuck off, etc. and he's like "What'a scam? No not at all."
After he hung up, my ride cancelled...
What the hell happened? Is this common? I ended up cabbing home.

2025.01.19 18:51 Sedohre PC for 3D rendering (Blender), Motion Graphics (AE) and Video Editing - Based in UK, up to ~Ā£2000
I am a professional animator and illustrator, and am looking to get a new PC for work. I primarily work between Blender for 3D and After effects for animation and video editing. I frequently work with 4k footage and very complex after effects files and I have been really struggling to get a decent performance in AE - practically no option for live playback even at reduced quality.
I currently use a laptop with 16 GB of ram and an integrated graphics card, and unsurprisingly after effects gets unusable with ram preview errors very quickly! I'd like to go for 64 GB ram to avoid issues in the future, and a graphics card with decent VRAM (I sometimes work with product CAD models with millions of polygons, so it can be pretty heavy)
I would like to be able to support at least 2 monitors (these don't have to fit in this budget, but great if they can) + my display drawing tablet (which uses an hdmi and two usb ports)
Budget is around Ā£2000 but I'm flexible if needed for the right build.

2025.01.19 18:51 Cpd1234r Would Wargames Atlantic Dark Age Irish work as Gallic Celts?
Obviously "dark age" is in the name and I know that came well after Romes campaigns against the Gallic Celts. I'm just getting into learning about Rome and some buddies want to get into hail ceaser. I'm not overly excited about the warlord sculpts for the Celts. I already own a box of Dark Age Irish. Given a cursory glance I don't see all that much difference in gear between the warlord kit and the WG Atlantic kit besides shield shape. Unfortunately I've already built them with shields for when we got into lion rampant a few months back.
Now my buddies won't care if they are historically accurate. However I'm one of those people where it will bug me knowing if they are way off the mark, lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

 | Hi all! I propagated this bamboo plant from my parentās plant a few months ago. I left it in water for a while and then eventually moved it to a pot. Admittedly, I donāt water as much as it probably needs, but overall the plant looks pretty healthy, but unfortunately not growing really at all. Itās gotten a little taller, and a new leaf or two, but I really thought it was going to take off once potted. Any tips on how to get it to grow more? Itās on a southern-ish facing window in the bathroom right now. So pretty high humidity, good sunlight, but the window has the visibility film on it so it filters the light down. I wanted to share that i created and submitted my first package to Package Control channel. It's called "StartServer" and it provides a lightweight development server with live reload inside Sublime Text.
The idea came from my frustrations with existing live preview packages like LiveServer and Browser Sync. I couldn't get it to work right out of the box, so i decided to create my own (with a little AI assistance).
It's quite simple, it automatically refreshes your browser whenever you change, and save, your html/css and it shows a status bar with the server status.
It's still awaiting approval but if you want to grab it's on GitHub. Any feedback is welcome.

Iāve tried installing a few packages to get the internal keyboard working, just in a tty so far, and nothing works. External keyboard works fine, just nothing for the internal one. Works in grub fine, just not sure what do to from here. Couldnāt find anything on google, and pretty sure it has no t2 chip.
