I just realized that my EdgeRouter firmware is woefully out of date! Version 1.10.7 seems to be circa 2018! This is on an EdgeRouter 4.
Upgrading to the latest all in one jump seems like the kind of thing that would induce nasty surprises and I really need this router to continue working. Anyone have opinions about how I should go about getting it up to date?

2025.01.19 20:30 AshamedWatercress646 Opening chapter for my second MCs POV
This is the opening chapter of my second MCs POV. The way he reacts is pretty realistic. He thinks his best friend (first MC/narrator) is dead and he's trying to process it. They both become separated and he's not really sure how to find any support. I'm not sure whether I'm portraying his desperation correctly or not.
Note: The comment about him looking like a girl is not meant to be mean to anyone, it's just the corsairs mocking him. : )
He's trying to grow his hair out because he disliked it being so short - and it also acted as this reminder of him being forced into a mould which he couldn't fit into.
I should be at the bottom of the sea. Dead. For all the fish to gnaw upon. The only proof of my father's lineage still remaining, lost.
Something thuds into my side. I'm wishing that this is only a dream, that Ari and I are still together on the shores of her home.
But it's not, and any fading hope that is still remaining is snatched away from me as another boot thuds into my side. Then someone's yanking me upright, and my sleep-heavy mind struggles to understand what is going on.
"With all that hair, 'e looks like a girl. Pity it ain't grown out yet." I hear a snide comment somewhere to my right. I finally open my eyes, the last remains of sleep vanishing. I'm soaked to the skin, and as a breeze passes over me, it chills me to the bone. I'm surrounded by a mob of people. Their faces are all sullen and drawn, and the daggers strapped to their belts don't give me much hope either. Someone takes a fistful of my hair, yanking my head up. "Shall I give 'im a haircut, mates?"
What in Marien's name is going on?
"Excuse me." I clear my throat, but my voice is hoarse from all the salt water that flooded into my mouth. "Oh, an' he talks pretty too. Yer a bit far from 'ome, little boy." My arms are pinioned somewhere behind me, and even if I could get my hands free, I wouldn't risk it. And from the way these people are talking, I can only assume that they're corsairs. And they've just assumed that I'm some nobleman's son.
"Just wait a moment! You've got to let me go!"
"Oh, you've got to let me go back to mummy and daddy!" Another corsair attempts a crude stab at how I was speaking, poking fun at my accent. It ellicts raucous laughter from every other person standing on deck, but it makes me boil on the inside. I yank my head away from the person who grabbed it, seething.
"Stop it!" I shout, only drawing further mockery. "You've got to let me go, or else I'll kill you!" Everyone stops dead for a moment, looking at each other with nervous glances, before breaking out into laughter once again.
"Don't go threatening us, or else we'll sling you overboard and you can go back to where you came!" Somebody grabs the back of my shirt, hauling me over to the railing and pinning me against it. My head and torso are swinging over the rail, the churning of the waves making my stomach heave up and down. Blistering spray hits my face innumerable times, all whilst I struggle to get out of my captor's grip.
"I tell you! I'm the son of Bryndis! BRYNDIS OF DAERION!" I frantically try to reason with the person pinning me to the railing, and in their shock I tumble to the deck, my face striking the timbers hard.
"You're Bryndis's son? Now that's as if I haven't heard that story many a time. Liar." Another voice greets me as I'm hauled back up to a sitting position, my face just mere inches away from another man's. The hat with its spray-soaked feather gives me a clue to his identity. "You have to listen to me!" I beg the captain, but it falls on deaf ears.
"The only place you're going is in the rope locker. And don't even think about making a sound." I see a smirk beginning to form on the captain's face as he waves me away. And with a stab of horror, I realise that my usually heavy pockets feel abnormally light.
"You scrunt!" I finally get out, exploding with anger.
"That's what it's like in the business, boy. The sooner you learn that, the better." I fix him with a cold stare as he prepares to inch away, and he turns back to me, and I don't realise that he's struck me until I feel a harsh, stinging pain on my cheek.
"Take him away. But what even is your name?" "Silas. Silas Teghin." I stammer out. "That's not a name I've heard before. So, Silas of Eleriad-" "Silas of Daerion." I retort, smarting at the incorrect use of my kingdom's name. "It's been a pleasure to meet you, Silas Teghin." And then I'm dismissed, hauled away by a mob of jeering corsairs.

I've been using an old version of Skype for years for the split view option, so I can have several chats open at once. Now, they did something so that I can't tell if people are online anymore or not. It still 'works' but I hate Skype more and more now. They drop any features that won't work on a cell, so it's the same app for both.
I'd like an alternative, but I don't want anything that 'requires' a cell phone. Everything else I have looked at has a 'link with your cell' option before you can use it. Other apps like discord don't allow for multiple windows. I liked skype because it could do that, video calls, send files, and it worked on many platforms. It was ideal back in the day, but now its simply the best I've been able to find.
So, are there any programs I may have overlooked?

2025.01.19 20:30 SuccessfulGoose9166 Seems like bot matches are unavoidable in Quick Play
So I've noticed that I've been getting bot matches less often this past week. I'll hit the occasional double or triple loss, and be surprised to not have a bot match right after. The only ones I remember getting this week were after a 4-5 loss streak. However, in the past if I got a bot match and didn't feel like playing it, I would leave the match and call it for a bit or for the day. Whenever I hopped back on, either same day or next, I would que up into a normal match against other players. Tried this yesterday after taking a break and got another bot lobby. Still not feeling a bot match, I ditched and called it for the day. Logged on today to do my dailies and got another bot match. Could be coincidence, but seems like you may not be able to dodge them anymore. We'll see tomorrow as I dodged again and logged for the day lol
