Separating with my common law. Wondering if they have any chance of being entitled to a part of the only form of investment I have - my TFSA portfolio. Most of the growth there happened prior to us formally becoming common law (3 years)
Maybe helpful info: In the time we’ve been together they relied on me for a place to live as they have struggled to find a job. Never asked for rent and only split food. I’ve never added them to the lease but they have switched their ID to show they live with me. No kids.

I’m just going with the flow here, seeing history of big spikes the week of Chinese new year for the past 2 years kind of gives me hope, if nothing happens or gets worse for the next few weeks now with Chinese New year being 1/29 then I think I’ll peace out, been working with this since July.

Hi folks, I'm looking for a book I read sometime between 2007 and 2012 at the absolute latest. I read it in french, but it was translated from another language, I assume english. The french version had a silver cover. The author's name may have been Christopher (but I may be misremembering).
The novel had a female protagonist who was suffering from some sort of invisibility, which was really more an "unnoticeability". People's eyes gloss over her - they tend to forget she's even there. Her mother turned the burner on while she was sitting on it as a kid. She shoplifts and no one notices. She can make herself harder to notice if she wants, but struggles to make herself easier to notice.
Over the story she meets other people like her, including a man she meets that's much worse than her, to the point where he can be almost completely invisible even to her. They date, and they break up, and she dates another guy like her but she suspects that the first guy is stalking her. Her feeling that he's there and never being able to be certain that he's not are important to the plot. I'm fairly certain the book contains sexual abuse.
Please help me find this book!

I work for a very small company and admittedly have very limited experience beyond the scope of my job, which I’ve been in for a few years now. I realized I struggle to have a clear perspective on my job from an outside point of view because I only have 1 other coworker.
For greater context, here is what I do daily + some projects I’ve worked on:
Day to Day - Communicating via email with the general public + clients (Sometimes I answer 40-50+ inquiries a day) - Creating documents: guides, reports, summaries, compiling data about our company, or for other purposes (think proposals, etc.) - Organizing data about our company for internal use, cleaning up databases and creating new ones, generating reports about metrics, etc. - Writing copy for social media (longform articles and shortform posts) - Researching grants and compiling applications - Occasionally doing visual element design to accompany reports, etc. - Misc admin: managing the physical office, keyholding, depositing checks, on-the-fly or urgent projects - Meetings with prospective partners and minutes
Projects: - Major internal data analysis project - Reworking of filing system - Calendar creation and management for socials - Other stuff I’m forgetting
I guess my question is? What kind of impression does a job like this give? I can’t tell how “professional” my work is, because I don’t have much exposure to other corporate environments.
I struggle with this especially bc I’ve been considering my compensation, and I know I’m underpaid for the amount of work I do, but I also have trouble quantifying its value considering the small size of our operation.
Anyway, sorry for the vague question. Just looking for some thoughts.

2025.01.19 23:10 Loose-Comb7865 Should I leave my husband of 10 years, I told myself he would grow out of his toxic tendencies but now I wonder if he’s just breaking me down.
For some backstory, when we got together I had just kicked a 10 year m*th addiction and was overall a mess. Over the course of dating I went from having under the table jobs such as harvesting firewood with a forestry permit to now holding my state Real Estate license and acting as transaction coordinator for a fairly busy real estate office. I've come from a much tougher background than my husband, my addiction was a family activity. I did drugs with my dad from the age of 15 I know it sounds like I'm all over the place but all of this is relevant. Because I came from a rougher start my husband has always been highly judgmental of me and my family to the point I truly believe he thinks he's better than us. We have hit many major milestones in life together, like kids and a house and wedding, but he makes sure to make me feel like I wouldn't have all this without him. And it's nothing he says out loud. If you were to ask him, he would brag about my achievements and scream about them from rooftops, but behind closed doors when we're struggling or tight with money and aren't making ends meet, he makes it seem like that is entirely my fault because I'm not doing good enough. I know I would've never been out of the country or traveled to a warm beach without him, but it feels wrong to say that I would be nowhere. I'm starting to have little successes in my career and in my hobbies but nothing notable or life changing and he's consistently telling me that's cool but it doesn't pay the bills. He works a seasonal job that pays 6 figures on a good year and his job pays for our lifestyle. I've told him many times I wouldn't mind downsizing but he refuses. He also thinks that because he works so hard during the season and makes as much as he does that he should not have to work at all for the entire four months of his off-season which would be fine if we could make ends meet, but we're not and when he does that, he can't even help out without it being a huge fight around the house. I still get up make breakfast. Make coffee do the laundry get our kids ready for the bus and then get myself ready for work while serving him a cup of coffee in the mornings am I wrong for wanting to leave this? I've tried Counseling and he says that during counseling all I do is bring up how he talks to me and it's not fixing our issues. I don't know what else to do. I guess at this point I couldn't even leave if I wanted to.
