2025.01.20 02:43 King_Corduroy Opinions on Crock Pot cooking?
I'm probably just weird but curious to see what other people my age think about these things. Personally I'm not really a fan unless your making those cocktail wieners or something for a get together. It feels similar to having someone say they cook with a microwave to me. lol
I feel like Gen X and the generation before them were all about these labor saving devices where convenience trumps quality. My mother for instance couldn't cook to save her life. lol If there was a shortcut she took it.
My father also thinks microwaves and crockpots are devices no house can be without, along with dishwashers and air conditioning. I don't see the point of the first three personally, I have hands to wash dishes, pans to cook, an oven to heat things and a tea pot for boiling water. Air conditioning is nice but it sure runs up the electricity bill nicely also so it's something I can also live without personally. I guess my overall opinions of these things is that they are tacky, wasteful and have a sense of cheapness about them. But then again I was also against LED lightbulbs until they figured out the hue to more closely match filament bulbs so it's probably just me. lol

I've seen the joke a few times of "Ben naming his aliens slurs" but then we know a fair bit of their actual species names. Diamondhead could seem rude, but Petrosapiens roughly equates to "Smart Rocks" or XLR8 and Kinecelerans.
We do know one specific case where an alien species that is aware of their nickname being an insult, but is it more likely the alien species names we know are actually just what the Plumbers called other species, with Lenopans just being the first race to catch on with their colloquial nickname.

My mom just had her second leg amputated, Iām looking for a work project, but having to sue my last project just to get paid, having chronic pain, concerned about my marital status given political circumstances, had a rough 2024 (went from $100k+ to zero). Just a lot of external circumstances and I had gone off my antidepressants at some point because I felt better with K.
Iām in survival mode right now and trying to get back to meds regularly, but recently lost insurance because my husband became unemployed for medical reasons.
If nothing else, Iām always so pro-self care on here, so Iām admitting it isnāt always roses
