Hi! Wrapped up a year between two Banner hospitals in Phoenix area. I was apprehensive about even taking the risk on Banner as the reputation is so bad. But it was the highest paying. So I took the risk and so happy I did.
- Ratio. The ratios were totally acceptable and same for the most part compared to like other states and cities I’ve worked in. One hospital Oncology, it was 4 Max and another one level 1, it was five max but they tried to keep you at 4.
- Resources. Both hospitals had an IV team, charge RN without assignment, and SWAT team (helps with patients when they aren’t doing well to assess need to upgrade to ICU, come to rapids and help, ultrasound IV help). Often the Level 1 had a resource nurse to help with anything. Phlebotomy. Both hospitals have phleb. So unless you got a central line, they draw your labs.
- Cancellations. Yes the main culprit. Depending on the season I was either getting cancelled once a week, or not at all during the month. MAKE SURE YOUR AGENCY PAYS FOR Full stipends for the week, even with hospital cancellations!!!! Most of them do but make sure you ask before you start the contract I did meet some Travelers who were upset their agency weren’t paying full stipends. I’m like that’s crazy.
- Days off. Epic. So easy to get to California, Utah, Vegas et cetera. And local hiking is beautiful like I everyone was a hiker before I moved here and now I’m totally hooked. The trails to explore are endless. The summer was hot but the place I stayed in had a pool. Definitely bearable for me, just can’t hike like May-October. Maybe u can more north, but not in Phx.
If anybody wants a referral, you can DM me I know someone who is an agency that has the vendor for Banner so they always get the assignments and they pay max stipend.

Picked a lemon off my neighbor's lemon tree. And then I remembered I don't have eggs. And I refuse to go to the store just for eggs. So I used the carrots, and the lemon, and started throwing whatever ingredients sounded good into the pot. So this is chicken ginger lemon miso soup with pickled mustard greens, kidney beans, dehydrated seaweed and mushroom strips and black garlic soup. That's much too long a name though, so I'm calling it "I didn't have eggs". I bought a Nikon Z50 off eBay. I didn’t realize at first that it was refurbished as it never said that in the description, it just showed the white refurb box in one of the pictures. (So already a little dishonest which is sketch) It seems to function well though, SC is 5800. I saw refurb Nikon things have the pin prick marks… the camera does not though. The lenses do have the marks. The paperwork for the refurb is in the box. I don’t understand why it does not have the marks?? Is this a red flag?

Hey folks,
I'm doing a rewatch of the fourth season and just had a question for those who were growing up and/or adults in the 80s: is the way they depict the police handling of minors at all accurate?
I'm referring primarily to El being taken from her home to be arrested and sent to juvenile when her parent/guardian were not present and without the presence of a social worker. And then being interrogated by the police as a fourteen year-old without someone (such as a social worker) present. Then, later on in the season, when the Hawkins PD are interrogating the kids, they do so without their parents present in the room and apparently Max's mom wasn't even called (if I remember correctly).
Of course, suspension of disbelief. It's a TV show and, unfortunately, there is still sketch stuff that happens even today with the mishandling of witnesses and minors. I guess I could kind of "shrug off" the Hawkins PD stuff because it's a small town where "everyone knows everyone" but curious if this was something that was just a thing in the 80s (no social worker or parents needed when police are interrogating or arresting minors)?
