Nintendo likes to follow an "If it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality and seems to create major innovative changes just when the console underperforms, such as with the N64 or the Gamecube.
In conclusion, calling their new console the Switch 2 and making minimal design changes doesn't feel like a step backwards for Nintendo but rather what they've been doing for decades.

I say this as someone who can only see the Iron Warriors from outside-in, having not partaken in IW books whether Horus Heresy or not, and yet they seem so unique and interesting because of it. I can understand how the most recent lore completely renders this view defunct, but it has always made them stand out among their peers. To be more specific, it gives them a character than grounds them as separate from any other mechanized chaos legion, completely, unmistakeably iconic.
It just seems wasteful to abandon that concept, however unreasonable for the lapse in time.
