2025.01.20 07:48 Living-Two-732 Needing help around a child who is severely on the spectrum.
Hi there friends,
I am a teacher in a preschool room. Our room is very busy these days and we have quite a few children who are special needs. However, there is this one child who has been diagnosed with ASD who is extremely violent. Whenever another child cries or when he is frustrated, his first instinct is to hurt another child and even teachers. He usually opts for biting, scratching, hitting, kicking, or headbutting. His mother is aware of his condition, but is in denial about just how severe it is. We have tried everything, and I mean absolutely everything for this child. Engaging with him, giving him squeezes (recommended as per his OT), calming music, sensory toys, books from home, but nothing works. We honestly feel like this environment is just not suitable for his needs (it is a really busy room). Us teachers are constantly struggling. One teacher has to be off the floor constantly monitoring him and keeping an eye on him. 24/7. Even when you're right next to him, he will randomly attack another child.
My colleagues and I are really stressed and feel like we've tried everything. The mum is uncooperative as well. We are looking at getting a 5th teacher just to shadow him, so we can at least spend time with the other children in our care who have special needs and also provide engaging learning experiences for the children.
What would you recommend?

2025.01.20 07:48 cherrypi31415 Newly diagnosed, heart palpitations common while, is detoxing the right word here?
I recently was diagnosed with alpha gal. I don't know how long I've had it, but potentially misdiagnosed with IBS 15 years ago and instead it's this. I live in a tick heavy area so no telling which one infected me. I immediately cut out all red meat, but haven't cut out dairy yet as my doctor didn't tell me to. Now I'm wondering how "unconmon" dairy is. My concern now is that every time I lay down I experience heart palpitations. I quit caffeine and nicotine just before my diagnosis came in, so it's possibly because of that, but it feels like the withdrawals from both of those ended days ago, even before my results came in and this is a kinda new prevalent and scary feeling symptom. I'm hesitant to just rush to the ER over it because when I get up, the palpitations stop and I feel alright, with maybe a small lingering ache. Are lingering heart palpitations common while still "detoxing" from the alpha gal in my system? It's only been a week since my diagnosis and quitting meat so I assume it's still working it's way out of my system. I quit caffeine and nicotine the week before my results came in and didn't notice the heart palpitations until after I was diagnosed. The abdominal pains and stomach upsets have calmed down significantly in just the last week, but this weird chest, heart thing is keeping me up at night. IDK, sorry for rambling, but just trying to figure things out.

Hello again,
This being a place to learn about how to get better at the game, it's not surprising that a lot of the posts on here are about ways to improve gameplay, myself included with two such posts. This got me thinking about whether or not there are tools on the web that would do that kind of analysis using AI. I found some tools that used to work with Overwatch, but were banned and subsequently shutdown for breaching TOS. Apparently there were providing real time coaching and queues, which isn't what I'm looking for anyway.
To put it succinctly, are there any tools out there that utilize AI to point out the flaws in the someone's gameplay, and gives them tips on what they should have done instead? Or when there were missed opportunities? It would seem to me that the way to play with a character can be formulaic for 90% of the gameplay. Of course there will always be space to add your own twist to it, but for the general public and up to a certain rank, following a guideline would be enough.

Hello everyone. I'm an international student (with American citizenship) applying to:
UC Berkeley: Environmental Economics and Policy, B.S
UCLA: Business Economics
However, I wish to transfer to Haas (Berkeley) for business management second year (if my freshmen year grades allow). I lived in California for 12 years (up to 10th grade) but don't constitute as an in-state applicant. My weighted GPA for 9th and 10th grade was 4.7586 and my unweighted gpa was 4.00. This was at a fairly competitive, but not overly competitive public school in California. I took 4 AP classes and got a 4 (AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A) and 3 (AP European History and AP Human Geography) for the AP Exam. I only submitted my grades for the two 4s I received. After, I moved to an international school in South Korea and received the following grades:
IB Economics HL: 6
IB Math AA HL: 6
IB Physics SL: 6
IB Chemistry HL: 5
IB Chinese AB Initio: 5
IB English Lang and Lit: 5
TOK: C
Our school's gpa converter is:
7 = 4.3 (does not constitute for me as I don't have any)
6 = 4.0
5 = 3.7
This is for unweighted.
When taking UC grades into account, our school considers
6,7 = A
5 = B
4 = C and so on
For my old school grades (since I'm only hoping on UCs I decided to only include my 10th grade grades), I had:
8 CP As (these were mostly third year language, and completing my arts requirements for UCs)
6 Honor As (English 10 H, Math Analysis H (which is our schools version of pre-calc), and Chemistry H)
4 AP As (AP Comp sci principles and AP Euro)
This was not a very competitive grade at my school, and I would rank myself towards the lower-half of the grades for my new school. In regards to my old school, I was top 1% for grades. Describe how you express your creative side.), about my book and how I was inspired by that to begin a brochure at my new school because all my classmates were experiencing academic pressure. My second essay, prompt (Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.), was about my research paper on how sodium-ion batteries were becoming an increasingly more environmentally friendly option in comparison to lithium-ion ev batteries. My third essay, prompt (Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.) was about my immerse essay competition and how the IRA could be seen as a failure in regards to bringing the ev supply chain from China to America or an American ally. My fourth essay, prompt (What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?) was about a volunteer group I used to me a member at and how there we helped US soldiers serving abroad.
I'm also an Asian American, first-generation immigrant, who does not qualify for financial aid. Both my parents attended fairly competitive universities in Korea then later in America to gain post-graduate degrees.
I would like everyone's opinion on my chances to get into Berkeley and LA. I understand I do not have a very competitive applications in-general compared to what many may consider the average application for a school in-general, as neither my grades nor my ecs stand out in general for any school, but I just wanted everyone's opinion regarding my chances, to give myself a reality check.
