2025.01.20 06:50 AcousticAlpaca C or Zig for embedded systems?
Hey everyone, I've been a junior developer for a little over a year now and have been mostly writing in Go, but I've recently become interested in getting into making software for embedded systems on the side as a hobby. I've never really looked into hardware or how it works but I've known that C is the go to language for it (I know assembly exists but I'm not looking to learn that at the moment). I was doing some research and have seen a lot of people recently mentioning Zig, saying that it's the "new" C and that if you know Zig, then you know C as it's pretty much the same thing but better?
However, I also noticed that pretty much all examples of software for embedded systems are written in C which is why I'm leaning more towards learning C and then maybe moving over to Zig down the line, but if everyone is saying that zig is the future, should I just start learning it now?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey, I'm a newer player, and I'm wondering if anyone know of a shorter, up to date yt video that goes over how to counter each character. I watched one that was from 2 years ago, but is obviously missing some characters.
Alternatively, if anybody has some tips, that would be great as well. I'm well aware of numpad notation and stuff like that. I'm just thinking that eventually I'm gonna have to know the best way to counter each character. I'd love to learn from people who already know instead of going in 100% blind and doing trial through error for a bajillion years; "Use the knowledge of your elders," they say 😂 and majority of you have played longer than me (I have literally 2 and a half weeks of experience).

I hadn’t been playing for a while. And when I say a while, I mean since summer of last year (2024). Usually when I would play this game, I would open it after a few months, update it, and everything would be fine. This time I logged in and I’m at lvl.3, all of my memories and assets are gone, and my user looks kinda different (idk about that one). Also, I don’t remember very well, but I don’t remember my name being what it says it is now. I also am in the beginning of the story, and haven’t even met all of the characters. It’s still putting me through game explanations and tutorials. Last time I played, I had a high relationship level with Xavier, was at least lv.25+, and was a lot further in the story. I last played a little while after Sylus had been released, so I was in the middle of his story. I had put so much time and effort into this game and it’s all gone now! When I first opened the app, it asked me to log in after an update. I used the same email I use for everything, and even checked to see if I had my progress on another email. What do I do????? 😥

I have never played Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and I wouldn't, because I absolutely can't stand these old mouse-click PC games, neither in terms of gameplay nor graphics. I'm also not a fan of reading endless texts. Like the first Fallout games, Silver or even Warcraft Games, I just cant stand with them.
But I would still like to experience the story of the predecessors to BG3. But how is the question?
Are there any good fan-made films about it or anything else?
Or are there any good mods for BG1/2/3 that retell this story in a modern way?

I want to hang these two panel art above the sofa here in this space. I am not sure about the placement because there is a 12” vent above. I have put the measurements on one of the pictures.
- Is the art too big for this space? The panels (27.5”) together exceed two-thirds of the length of the sofa (79”) even without accounting for the space between them.
- How high should the art be? If I center the art at eye level (70”), the bottom is about 15” from the top of the sofa.
- What should the space between them be? I can’t decide between making them cohesive (small space) or having them dominate the wall (large space).

I was in my first relationship a couple of months ago and it ended very poorly. When it ended I felt like part of me died like I failed. Now I'm seeing all the red flags that were there from the start for awhile I was mourning the person I thought he was but my image of him has shattered. He was manipulative but I'm not sure if it was intentional but still manipulative and selfish. I honestly feel used and ashamed he didn't respect my boundaries and I did something potentially really dangerous when we were together. The entire time I felt very responsible for his happiness and was happy because he was happy all I wanted was for him to be happy. I found myself questioning a lot if it was ok to have boundaries and if I should enjoy something uncomfortable because I was in a relationship and found it hard to say no.
