So I'm 25yo M and i like this 24 yo F at my work. Dont worry, we are not in the same project at all and we rarely meet. We only meet through external courses or through our mutual friend. I started texting her a while back. She claims she doesnt use WA and tell me to go find her on messenger and she feels bad for the late replies. So i went to find her on messenger. She still reply kind of slow but everytime she replies, she replies a lot with a lot of enthusiasm.
Now i would have asked her out but the problem is I'm not in a great shape. Im working on it through dieting and exercising. I just dont know by the time i got in shape, she'll be taken :/.

Context: my ex’s parents got divorced when he was a young teen. It was a messy divorce where his mom became an alcoholic and at some point was separated from his sister (who he loves so much) and mom and lived with his dad. Then at around 22 he dated his ex wife for 5 years and was married for 2. We met about 4 months after his divorce and dated for a year and 8 months. He is successful but still not exactly where he wants to be financially.
About 6 months into dating, I told my ex that I am dating for marriage. That I wasn’t sure if he was the one I’d marry but that’s my intention. I knew this might not be what he wanted, given he got divorced like 10 months before but that’s why I said it, so we can either end it or continue. He said we could try it out. Since then, I didn’t bring up marriage until a year and 7 months after dating. In that time, we traveled to Paris together (which he paid for) and he said I love you (which took him a LONG time but makes it more valuable because he really meant it) and I met his sister and a lot of his friends.
I brought up the topic of marriage and told him I wanted to get engaged by 2 years of being together and he said he doesn’t feel ready yet. He seemed a little frustrated with himself and said “idk why I’m like this. You know me well, why do you think I’m like this?” I told him I think he’s scared of divorce. He said it’s not just that, he likes that we have time apart and he gets excited to see me. He also said that he wants to have kids not long after marriage and that he still doesn’t have the money for kids. We ended the conversation with him saying he’d think about it more.
A month later, I went over to his place and we were having a great time. I asked what his timeline is on marriage and this time he was prepared. He said 1. I don’t want to force myself to get married then be upset with myself if something goes wrong (I think he meant divorce) 2. I know this sounds selfish but I like how things are right now and I don’t want to ruin it. I told him that we’re on two different pages and I think we should end it. He was a little upset and said “is that what you want to do?” I said no, but what happens if after a year you still don’t feel ready? He said you’re right. He drove me home and we reached my house, he said “I don’t know what you’re thinking but it’s not that I’m not sure about you, I’m just not sure about the timeline” and that was the last time we spoke. 6 weeks ago. The whole breakup was very calm, maybe too calm lol.
Now I constantly have the urge to talk to him. I miss him so much and I really want to get back together. Sometimes I think I would wait several more years for him and other times I don’t because I want to have kids. But I’m thinking to text him today to meet up. I don’t plan on bringing up the relationship/breakup. I’m thinking to just be friends. Do you guys think that this might lead to us getting back together and eventually married? Is this a a bad idea?

I've been puzzled why it seems that DAs get under our skin in ways that seem unique and wondering about why it's so hard to shake the relationships.
I don't know how it is for everyone but I realized that my DA and I had similar childhood wounds but we handled them differently. I "recognized" him the first moment I ever laid eyes on him and now I realized that in a way he was my mirror, representing the part of me that had been ripped from me during the wounding.
I, who have never had ambition beyond wanting and working for a healthy, peaceful, home life, suddenly grew ambition. I wanted to earn enough money to be able to show him every beautiful thing I had experienced in the world and give him the gift of experiences around the world.
Being loved by him was like finding the lost part of myself - and for me when he pixilated into nothingness, just a wisp of smoke, it was like losing that part of myself again. The wound was torn open again and salt poured in, making my trust issues even more profound.
It has been so hard to "quit him" because it felt like quitting half of myself.
When I finally viscerally understood why I'd been so attached to him, I realized that the part of me that was torn away in my youth was still there, just very deeply in hiding. I could love ME the way I wanted to love HIM (and in a way still do).
That will be my belated New Year's Resolution - to love myself fully and act on that love.
To that end I spent the weekend knitting (a beanie out of Baby Alpaca wool), listening to podcasts and watching old TV series. Perfect. Am I still lonely? Of course, to some extent yes. But I'm also more content than I've been in ages.

 | I recently watched a YouTube video titled Inside Africa’s Food Forest Mega Project by Andre Millison and it got me thinking why can’t we do something similar in Somalia? The country is literally turning into a barren desert due to widespread deforestation and drought. People are cutting down the last remaining trees to sell as firewood and charcoal. The UAE is one of the largest importers of Somali charcoal. Shouldn’t the UAE one of the richest countries in the world have moved beyond charcoal by now? With all the technology and wealth they have why are they still relying on charcoal? Weird! What if we started a movement where every person pledged to plant at least one tree? I think they did something similar in Ethiopia. Techniques like Half Moon water harvesting in Niger turned the Sahara Desert into fertile grounds. But this only works if people come together with determination and effort. People need to act now and it starts with small simple steps. The exploitation of Somalia’s resources by foreign countries especially the UAE’s charcoal industry needs to stop. Prayers alone won’t solve this. People need to be educated on the critical role trees play in maintaining rain patterns. Trees help to create moisture in the air which then condenses and falls as rain. They act as natural water cycles pulling water from the ground into the atmosphere. Cutting down trees disrupts this process and as the tree cover diminishes so does the rainfall. people believe that cutting down all the trees and praying for rain will work.
