So, here I (M26) is one of the 2 sons of a family of 4.
This morning I heard from my mother that my father attempted to shoot his self during the weekend and that she stopped him.
I'm pretty sure depression is running rampant within the family, my mother had her lot, I did too and I'm pretty sure my brother had his time too. We (father brother and I) are clearly not comfortable talking about it at all (manly men you get the idea). I personally took the numbness way out of it, I know it's bad but it did saved me.
Issue is that it made me emotionally really unavailable. My mother is obviously crying, and there I am, having just no clue how to react. And, more importantly, how to ACT on it and help. Being the lonely guy, I don't have much people to gather advices from, hence Reddit.
I'm obviously gonna call him trying to make it feels natural and try to reach them physically asap (they live 4 hours away from my place). It's more about a more long term solution.
I'm not detailing you the how and why of his depression, that is a problem we'll handle, but I'm trying to find a way to spend more time with them doing something I could enjoy too so it doesn't feels too forced, I believe it can do nothing but help.
So, asking the fathers out there, what would you have loved to do with your sons (or already do) ? Money is a problem so something not too expansive (I thought about the classic car renovation as I would have loved to do it too but that won't make it due to money). If that could be something that rises his self esteem that'd be great too.

Hello everyone I need useful advice to fix my Ugg boots, I wore them for the first time and when I came back home found a tiny black stain so I tried to wipe it clean but the stain didn't go, then I used some water and shampoo to clean it with a tooth brush then tried to dry it with a hair dryer with cold air for like 10 seconds and stopped cuz I feared it would damage them but now the stain became bigger and I'm afraid it won't dry out. What do you suggest? Should I let it dry overnight and see if it's still there? Or do something now? Please I need help!!!!!!!!! I just got these ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

I've been skipping rope for quite a while now. I'm not into all that fancy moves stuff... usually I only have 10-15 minutes every morning and use it to warm up in the gym - I don't want to waste that precious time entagled in the rope and I don't need any skills to show off. Overy once in a while I get some extr time on my hands to do a longer session of 45 min to 2h. They are never ended by exaustion but rather by the lack of time.
I've noticed that the current world record for "skips in 12 Hours" stands at a mere 105k. Done some math while skipping in the morning. I think the strategy here was 50 min of jumping / hour at a 175 pace. The numbers just add up perfectly. I guess the record number was calculated rather than actually counted. 174 skips per minute is actually the frequency I use to get my pulse under control after some Burpees for example. Turning it up to 180-185 feels easy, 200+ is actually axausting.
Has anyone here ever done more than a 3 or 4 hour session? I have the tendency that either my feet or my hands go number after 30 minutes, but that seems to go away 15-20 Minutes later. What are your takes on that world record? Doable?

I'm currently on day 19 of a fast. (a bit of a dirty fast, but successful - currently down 9kg) For the past few days I've been experiencing stomach ache shortly after taking my daily Potassium. I take potassium citrate - three huge tablets three times a day (about 3150 mg potassium daily total) and a few minutes after taking them I get an ache in the belly that goes away after about 10 or 15 minutes. Faster if I drink a lot of water or tea. Is this something I should be worried about? Does anyone else experience something similar? I would have already stopped if this went on for longer, but the pain is quite manageable and 10 mins is short enough.

About the author I always find it extremely difficult to write "biographies" as I'm not even sure I know myself that well. I am above all else a proud moon child born in June 1972 in Chicago, Illinois; the year of Watergate and Rosemary's Baby. As a child, I loved to read late into the night with a flashlight, hidden under a blanket. I was also infatuated with roller skating to disco music in our cement basement during snowstorms.
I take a 3 hour nap every day, eat loads of mac and cheese and love to drive around late at night and listen to music. I am not ashamed to admit I am a huge fan of 80′s punk rock and old country. My favorite pastimes are chasing full moons, reading 1940′s pulp mystery novels, gambling in Vegas and reciting movie lines.
In high school, I was a reckless and rebellious teenager living under the motto of live fast and die young, but that didn't quite work out. At 22, after many attempts, I got clean and sober and entered the field of addiction working with teenagers suffering from substance abuse problems. For 13 years I worked in a residential treatment program for teenagers as the lead counselor and left to work in private practice.
I live in Indianapolis, Indiana with my husband Alex and our three dogs Dunken, Tucker and Boo Radley. They tolerate my craziness for which I am forever grateful.
When I am not writing, I run an online magazine called raannt with my husband which focuses on celebrity interviews, music festival coverage, red carpet events and daily music and style posts.
My first novel, The Before Now and After Then, was an adventure into wondering what would have happened if I had ever had the courage to talk to my first crush.
My next novel, Suicide Birds, is about a 15 year old girl's coming of age over 4th of July weekend after her mother dies of a heroin overdose. It is set for release Spring 2015.

I don’t think I’m ever going to feel better. I haven’t been taking my antidepressants consistently and I’ve been having suicidal thoughts. I don’t want to kill myself, but I keep thinking of different ways too die. It’s weird I don’t like it, but I’m not happy at all. I’m so hurt and mad.
I can’t wrap my head around everything you said to me. So much sweet talk. Then one day your just gone and forgot I existed. I understand I’m difficult sometimes and I have some issues I need to address. I have walls I’ve built to protect my heart. But you can’t say I didn’t love you, and I was loyal.
Maybe I’m just destined to be alone. Or maybe I’ll just disappear and never come back.
