I have been working for 3 years since graduating, and while my job is decent it's not quite what I want but I'm not sure where else to look.
My job is engineering, procurement, and construction for oil and gas companies. That being said the "engineering" step is pretty minimal, just load calculations or arc flash levels we get from entering nameplate data into a software. We figure out what equipment to order then I make single lines and wiring diagrams which get sent to the electrical contractor to install.
Compared to most jobs I feel like it's a cool job, and I've learned so many interesting things, but I think what I'm missing is there's no real opportunity to think outside the box or anything, most projects are very similar so it's just a matter of doing the design right and on time. There's no real logical thinking and problem solving required, apart from just logistical things and maybe some construction details like spacing of equipment.
I've never really felt excited to come into work, that being said it's a nice group of people and the work doesn't bore me to death, it's just not something I feel excited about or gives me a sense of identity. I'm conflicted because I know I'm in a better situation than a lot of people, just having a well paying job that isn't torture is a good place to be, but I also wish I could do something I was more excited about. I'm not sure if I should try and change my job entirely or just keep on my current path and hope it will be more exciting when I move to other consulting firms that work on larger more complex projects.
To add some context, I always really liked coding, and have taken CS50 and CS50 Web Dev, and made my own website, but trying to move into a coding role feels like a huge leap and I'm not sure if I would enjoy doing it full time. I wanted to go into computer science for university but at the time I heard so much about off shoring so I didn't feel it would be a stable career. But in university my favorite courses were always coding and embedded systems. It's just scary to leave a well paying stable career path to try something else that I'm not sure I would be succesful at.

Hey all.

I've been trying to configure ingress-nginx to allow snippet directives (which I plan to use in the home-assistant deployment under /apps/base if that helps).
I've been banging my head against a brick wall for ages and I've also apparently found an area that ChatGPT hallucinates like crazy in so I'm not getting anywhere.
From my googling, I believe I need to apply allow-snippet-annotations: true to my ingress-nginx container.
I am trying to do everything with GitOps and flux, so I created /infrastructure/controllers/base/ingress-nginx/config-map.yaml, which looks like this:

However, that doesn't seem to be being applied at all and I can't tell why (I've not really used ConfigMaps much yet, so I may be understanding it completely incorrectly)
Can someone please help me figure this out? You need only take a look at my commit logs in that repo to know I'm slowly going out of my mind.

They never let us explain or say anything and expect too much. So we are in process of vacating the place and the landlord came one day. Like acc to him we broke this floor but we took most care of everything The stove acc to him is damanged but in reality it is normal wear tear as we have been using it for a year now. 2025.01.20 16:03 Easy-Hovercraft-6576 Suspected malingering- what’s a good course of action?
Now this is a situation I always have heard of but have never experienced first hand…until now.
SM is a junior soldier who works shift work at an MTF. Without giving to much PII- we as their leadership have serious reason to suspect they are malingering and abusing sickcall and the ER to get out of work on a weekly basis now. Getting at least 48 hr quarters each time they get seen.
It is negatively impacting the team but everyone is too scared to confront them on this because Soldiers have the right to get seen if they feel like shit, which I completely agree with. However, I have no idea where to start with this aside from bringing it up to 1SG.
Anyone who’s been in this situation, please advise. Thanks all!
