I'm a senior vet student working my clinical rotations and my laptop (a surface pro 9) is just the worst machine ever. I had a Surface Pro 7 in undergrad and it was perfect, but slowed down so I upgraded for grad school. The detachable keyboard has failed on me twice and they're so dang expensive, and it just isn't convenient to carry around. I need something that can get me through clinics and hopefully through the first few years of my career.
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 500USD (flexible); USA
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Durability is a must. I'm going to be carrying it (likely open) from room to room, scrolling through charts while walking, and balancing it on different surfaces. It needs to be able to handle multiple tabs running for long days. A decent graphics card would be nice, because I will be looking at CT and MRI scans. A good battery would be a major plus. I don't care if its touch screen or has other fancy features. I have an iPad to use for having clients sign documents and handwriting notes as needed.
- How important is weight and thinness to you? Thinness isn't very important, but I'd prefer it to be as light as possible without sacrificing durability.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Important programs: Instinct (cloud based electronic medical records system - reportedly doesn't need anything specific; I can run it on my iPad, so I imagine any laptop could handle it)
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I will be typing a LOT, so I need a good keyboard A camera for video calls would be great. I do not need a back camera.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've been looking at refurbished Lenovo ThinkPads and HP Elitebooks aton BackMarket and through Bestbuy. If you recommend a used or refurbished option, I'd love recommendations on where to buy from as well.

Got a good variety of books to start reading, think I'm most excited to read A Guest in the House first. These are part of my aim to move away from Marvel books, which I have predominantly bought in the past.
I began collecting graphic novels since 2020, mostly due to interest growing from watching the MCU. These days I'm not that invested in the MCU anymore, so have branched out to other publishers as a result.
Ignoring the haul, I've read everything else except for No/One, JLD Rebirth, and Kelly Thompson's Captain Marvel Omni Vol. 1 - I'm waiting to buy Vol. 2 before I start the first book.
I've pretty much ran out of room for more books, so I probably have to rethink my next purchases. However, I would like to continue with series like Ryan North's FF, The Sacrificers, The Hunger and the Dusk, Monstress, and Something Is Killing the Children. I also wanna pick up Napalm Lullaby, Peach Momoko's Ultimate X-Men, and Phoenix sometime in the future when they're at their completion.
Though it may be a while until I can buy any more, I'm still happy to take any recommendations for other books you think I'll like based on my current collection.
