When I try to do remote start for climate sometimes I can hear the car beep and then fail to turn on. Any idea why the hell this happens?

2025.01.20 18:00 sociolingclass Working with overly sensitive recent graduates

Dealing with some issues in the workplace recently, as I'm a new manager and still learning a lot. What I'm looking for in this post is advice and maybe a bit of commisseration, but also I am going to be discussing some of these things with HR in my workplace. It's just therapeutic to see if people have similar experiences...
I preface this by saying that I am also a recent graduate, and I work most closely with recent graduates at my work. I manage a small team of people. They are part time students and full time recent graduates. We more or less all have the same age.
I've consistently had problems with them being overly sensitive and hostile towards my communication style. They say I come off as stressful, as if I'm superior, etc. I consider myself to be neutral, pragmatic and straightforward. I know I can be abrasive and terse at times and this is something I try to curtail. Nonetheless, they repeatedly complain about me being straightforward with them.
For example, there is a task I ask them to complete. I was under the impression the task was being done properly, but a superior mentioned to me that it was not. I asked my staff to change, and all I said was that a superior pointed out a better way to do x, which would be even better than it is. This was taken very poorly by one employee, who was visibly upset by it. Another thing was one employee working part time in two departments (one of which I manage), didn't want me to talk to them about my stuff when they are on shift for another department. They did not tell me personally, but instead told my colleague who works only in administration, who told me. Speaking of, this colleague socializes with all of my staff outside of work...
Anyway, I respected that wish, except I found a lost piece of clothing in my department's area and I thought it was this person. I went up to them while they were on the other department's shift and asked if it was theirs and I got a pretty severe reaction to this.
I know as a recent graduate myself I'm likely also guilty of things (not always great at taking criticism), but I do feel like I'm calmer in terms of my relationships with other people at work. I also tend to just let go of peoples' bothersome idiosyncracies. Generally speaking, I don't care about 90% of it. If I have a small issue with someone, I will adress them directly. I like to be chill and I like when people are chill in return. All of the older employees are like this. But it feels completely kafkaesque whenever I deal with my team / old manager (who is not a recent graduate, but still has the same age as me)

2025.01.20 18:00 flesh_tearers_tear Are there any flounder "party boats" on either coast?

One of my favorite boats was the Miss Point lookout in NY (its not there anymore) because they did inshore trips for flounder or fluke.
Are there any boats in the tampa area or the Cape canaveral to cocoa beach area? Ive been on 1 6-pack charter in cocoa since I moved to orlando and i wasnt really impressed (dont even remember the name of it)
Havent been fishing in years but i was thinking Id like to do an easy trip but im not finding any flounder boats outside of jacksonville.
anyone have any suggestions?

2025.01.20 18:00 mayhaps_a Is it just me or does trynda jungle feel REALLY strong?

I tried him out of funsies because he looked fun but I despise laning, and I felt so strong. You don't really need a tiamat item for jungling, between your E and jungle pet you can clear raptors and wolfs easily enough, tiamat would save you like 1 or 2 seconds at best. A massive advantage over Trynda top is you can very easily have your first back with 1300+ gold if you full clear+crabs or get a gank, which means BF sword and an opening for IE first item. Ganking with W and E should be easy enogh if your laner is getting pushed, too, specially with approach velocity.
Then you can go contest grubs or dragon with a BF sword and there's probably no jungler that can actually beat you besides MAYBE warwick.
And after IE first item, you can just charge fury and chase people down with a 75% IE crit, which is MASSIVE damage but also you MELT objectives.
Then I go phantom dancer>hexplate>situational items (mortal reminder>BOTRK if they have tanks, something else for squishies). I never buy a tiamat item, those first theee items are extremely strong with trynda and you don't need the extra 1 second of clearing raptors faster.

2025.01.20 18:00 Gottaimproveatmath 9/11 is a great litmus test for tankies

If you want to find out whether a leftist is a tankie or not, ask yourself “how would they have reacted to 9/11”? Because the Al-Qaeda targeted to U.S. was ostensibly to fight American imperialism. when they chose to attack the U.S. It’s not like they decided to attack us for no reason. Even the targets they chose were government buildings like the Pentagon.
So when you a leftist praising “Axis of resistance” countries like China, North Korea, or Iran, making it seem like every action Western countries have taken in the third world is evil and imperialistic, consider that they have probably would have celebrated America’s darkest day “the third world is rising up against the global north! Death to America!” as hundreds of innocent people jumped to their deaths from the twin towers.
Now, of course, I’m not saying that everything that countries like China and Cuba do are bad or that the U.S. is an infallible beacon of democracy. I do believe that the U.S. has funded a genocide in Palestine based on factors like collective punishment for the actions of Hamas (one of the Geneva Convention’s criteria for genocide), making Gaza uninhabitable, etc. But I also believe that China is committing a cultural genocide of their Uyghur population, by demolishing mosques, sending them to reeducation camps, engaging in forced sterilization, etc. One of the key differences in my opinion between liberal democratic countries like the U.S. and authoritarian countries like China is that our governments don’t censor our ability to criticize and protest them.
Even the fact that we see people yelling at politicians like Blinken while they’re speaking is actually a GOOD sign, because a truly authoritarian country wouldn’t even allow their people to speak out against their leaders so brazenly like that. Or if they did, they would be “disappeared”. Those are the tactics that the Nazis used to try to hide knowledge of the Holocaust and to prevent Germans from speaking out against their policies. They’re the same tactics countries like North Korea use to silent dissent and prevent their people from rising up against their regime. But because North Korea calls itself socialist tankies think it’s justified to quell “counter-revolutionaries” or whatever. The American Revolution itself had counter-revolutionaries try to reverse the gains made by the Founding Fathers (British Canada even burned downed the White House in the war of 1812), but those acts were never used as justification for terror to be used against the population or the militarization of society. There’s no reason Cuba and China should have leaders serving unelected for decades. There’s no reason North Korea should be as secretive and closed off from the rest of the world. There’s no reason why Stalin had to have hundreds of thousands of people purged or deported across the Soviet Union.
