2025.01.20 18:48 ExcellentSummer3732 AITAH for asking my classmate to help finish a group project after her grandma had just passed away?

I am a 22F Architecture student and I have recently had this conflict with a classmate who I will refer to as M. So as it says in the title, her grandma had passed away and M was obviously heartbroken and didn’t contribute that much with the project, which I initially understood and told her explicitly that it was okay and that I knew how she felt because my grandmother had also passed away a few months prior. I got down to work and together with another peer, I will call her K, we got most of the project done.
However, even after working very hard we still had some things left and if we didn’t have any external help we wouldn’t be able to have everything on time. I have to say that even though K was a great teammate and had a very good attitude during the whole process I was the one who really did the majority of the work (I don’t want to sound cocky or anything, it’s just the truth). M was attending classes and even though she looked very sad I thought that the best option would be to ask her if she could help with the last details, which was basically to finish the model of the project (glue little pieces together) while I finished the floor plans and renders and basically all the more elaborated things.
I think I asked her very sensitively (I say “I think” because I don’t know anymore). I told her that K and I were quite tired and that we needed help because if we didn’t have any we wouldn’t make it on time. It wasn’t my intention to reproach her for anything.
M’s grandma had passed away during a weekend and I asked her on a Tuesday. After beating around the bush I do admit that the tragedy was very recent to her and that I should have waited. But she was attending classes and doing other tasks from other subjects. She seemed to be avoiding this specific subject and a friend we both have in common told me that M didn’t really want to collaborate in this project, that she didn’t have her head wrapped around uni at the moment. I understood that perfectly, but I was also very stressed, not only with this matter but because I had other work to do, and this didn’t help.
What also worries me about the situation is what came after I asked her for help. She started screaming and telling me if I was out of my mind for telling her to do some work after her grandma’a funeral. That I was reproaching her for not doing anything and that, long story short, I was a bad person for that.
I think a lot about this issue. I don’t like conflict. I just wanted the project to be done in the best way possible. Am I ambitious? Yes, I take uni quite seriously (it is very expensive and my family is not rich). Am I a perfectionist? Yes, I am. But, am I a bad person? Being ambitious and a perfectionist has made me be a bad person? That question has been present in my head for a while. I don’t know. I think that I have been empathetic and not a workaholic bitch who doesn’t take people’s feelings into account because she’s only focused on the final success. But, through M’s eyes I am the latter. AITAH?

Not too long ago, got confirmation that my local town rink in CT would be running an inline league out of it from April-August this year. I'm very pumped about it.
I've always had alot of respect for inline since most of the best teams I played in College (ACHA) always seemed to have some sort of inline experience. This made me interested in inline for years but never had an opportunity to try it.
Just had my old 1x skates converted to inline in preparation. went with Xsoft labeda millenniums, and had some sonic speed bearings from my pandemic marsblade days that I threw on.
Anyone that has strictly played ice their whole life, is inline a fun transition to jump to or am I going to be absolutely terrible?

2025.01.20 18:48 lexs8 Dying a BIG coat without a washer

I love my winter coat, but want to change the color. This would be my first time dying something, so I appreciate advice! It's 100% cotton (fur is detachable and I will be removing it) which makes it easy. It's pretty heavy, so it'll need a full bottle at least.
However, I live in a small city apartment. I have access to a top-loading washer, but it is coin operated, so it locks and I am unable to check on the garment mid-cycle to make sure it is dying evenly. That also makes it impossible to add ColorStay Dye Fixative mid-way through.
So I was thinking of finding the biggest plastic bin I could and putting it in my tub. Is that my best bet?
After bucket dying it, could I then run it through the wash with the Fixative? Or is it best to add to the bucket?
I imagine it needs to be air dried post-dye. Is there a risk of it staining anything while drying?

So basically I can hear almost every move my downstairs neighbors make. It sounds like they stomp around with cinder blocks on their feet, they slam every door, drawer, and cupboard, and their voices carry so I can always hear them talking. As I rent, my options are limited. But I had an idea. I have a bunch of thick cardboard moving boxes. I thought if I laid those over the carpet, then plywood, then sound absorbing underlay, then peel and stick tiles, I would have a new floor without wrecking the carpet that would absorb the noise from below. Would this work?
