Hi all,
For a bit of context, I've been working as a data engineer for the past 2.5 years, first role in a small-medium fintech company that went out of business last year, and after 3 months of unemployment, in September last year I started a 1 year contract role in another fintech company - with 8 months remaining on the contract at this point. The contract role is to cover for another data engineer on maternity leave.
In my second month here the company introduced an 'exchange' program for new starters, in this program I went into a team of PMs, and do analytics/reporting work for them - things like extracting datasets from our Snowflake database, building Tableau reports... standard analyst work. Fast forward the exchange ended and they loved having an in house analyst so much (they're not overly technical), the Product team got approval for a dedicated Analyst role and they would like to offer me the role before looking for someone on the market.
Now even though I do enjoy doing analyst work to an extent, and the dynamic/culture of the Product team is a much better match than the Data team, I do want to progress my career in the Data Engineering space. However if I accept the role I'd have a permanent contract right now, even though my manager said they do want to offer me a permanent role it is subjected to be reviewed in September when my contract ends, and it isn't 100% that the company will have capacity/budget to keep me.
Should I take the role for job security? Or should I hold out and stay in Data Engineering? Any other perspective is appreciated, TIA :)

(I’m not too knowledgeable about this stuff but I’m a believer) My friend’s mother is a psychic, she does readings, tarot, and I believe she is also a medium. She can look at photos of people and know things about them right away. I know I won’t know the true answer unless I meet her, but I was just wondering, do psychics generally know when people have severe trauma, especially sexual trauma, just by looking at them or meeting them? I guess it’s obvious but I’m afraid of people knowing that about me/being vulnerable. When I go out I’m already worried people can see my history, so the idea of more spiritually inclined people knowing too I guess makes me feel nervous. Sorry for the odd question, this is my first time asking something on a subreddit.

For example I disagree with Rage Against The Machine but that’s not why I hate their music. I hate it cause they 100% don’t believe in what they’re saying + it sounds like shit and Tom Morello is a godawful guitarist.
There’s better reasons to hate. Just bringing up politics just tells me that the music is actually good but you don’t want to have a slight association with someone different from you. That’s bigotry. What you’re enacting by doing this is bigotry.

I don’t understand this sub. I joined this expecting it to be about HYGIENE, and how you can become more hygienic; getting rid of body odours, being more clean in general. But the moment someone has a more throughly routine than 95% of this sub, is “diagnosed” with OCD.
For example, one time it was shared how to have a non-smelling booty for hours, and because it involved more than using your fingers and soap, people went all angry saying “you have OCD”.
People say “don’t use soap on your vulva just water”, but theres 0% soap created by Dove, baby soaps for sensitive skin created specifically for newborns/babies, theres E45 shower cream created for specifically dry/sensitive skin which will not harm you.
People say “you don’t need to shower more than once a day or everyday because it strips off your natural oils”, there’s specifically moisturisers created for dry skin to help damage, there’s body oils with vitamins to help specifically with that.
It is a shame, honestly. I see some good tips on the comments here, but most of the time is just people who I wouldn’t consider hygienic at all. And God almighty if you have a 15 minute shower routine, you need to see a therapist!

Eu gosto muito de crianças, mas infelizmente a maioria delas não tem noção nem respeito com os animais. Batem nos vidros e gritam.
Eu sei que a culpa na maioria das vezes não é delas, é uma fase que o senso de empatia esta se desenvolvendo e elas ainda estão aprendendo que não são “o personagem principal” do universo, mas eu percebo que a maioria dos pais não tem a menor noção do que estão fazendo e quando vão para locais como esse não fazem a mínima questão de trabalhar esses conceitos com os filhos.
No fim é desagradável pros animais, pra quem está visitando e pra equipe que muitas vezes está trabalhando pra manter um ambiente minimamente agradável para os animais.
Eu também sei que apesar de muitos zoológicos e aquários terem foco em pesquisas e preservação das especies, infelizmente seria muito difícil que algo assim realmente acontecesse porque eles precisam de dinheiro pra financiar tudo isso, mas no meu mundo ideal ou todos os pais deveriam saber educar seus filhos ou as crianças seriam proibidas nesses locais.

It would allow for more exploration of his world. For example, Rio has barely appeared in this entire run; her best moment was in the last issue with Shift, but other than that, she hasn't been present.
