For married women: did you change your surname when you got married, and why or why not?
I’m getting married this year. I’m planning on changing my surname to my fiancé’s, but I’ve become increasingly sad recently about the thought of losing my current last name. I’m Asian and my fiancé is white, and I feel like my last name is an important part of my cultural identity and ties me with my family, whom I love dearly. I plan to make my current last name a second middle name, but I feel like it won’t be the same. My fiancé’s last name is also difficult to pronounce at first glance, and significantly longer than my current surname.
The main reason I’d like to change my last name is to feel like more of a family unit with my husband and to have the same surname as any future kids. I also like the tradition of it. But I would love to get others’ perspectives.

Yesterday I had a video call with a online indian friend and we spoke really well and I just started telling everything about freelancing, how I find clients, how I sell, email, etc.
Now I feel guilty of sharing him so much. So to reduce that guilt, I'm sharing it to you guys too, I tried posting this in other Nepali sub but post got removed. Here is it:
- Cold emailing: I mail companies asking to provide my web dev services in which 8/10 ignores. 2 replies and I get work from one.
- Google maps: It took me weeks to create a perfect python script for it which when we just have to find google maps with companies and agencies details then I run the python script, it will list details and emails if it's available in a excel sheet that we can mass mail using mail merge. You can create it too yourself now that chatgpt will make it more fast and the way you want.
- Freelancing platforms: I got 6 orders from freelancing platform and I'm on fiverr and upwork.
- Social Media: I'm active on linkedin and twitter, just posting contents there and also using chatgpt a lot to create content. Some people would be seeing your content a lot and think you're a skilled developer and may reach out to you in future. or you can reach out after you build conection with them
- My one of the best one, Find a freelance partner: So I do web dev as MERN stack dev, I have 3 friends who also do freelancing. We had a agreement that If I find a work which is related to Laravel, I let them know and if they find a work related to MERN stack then they will content me or refer me for that work. Got so many opportunities like that
- Have a millianiore foreign friend: You can find them easily on linkedin! Then go to their webite and mail them about something they are intersted to talk to. Then slowly make connection. I mailed 100s and made 2 friends who then refer me to people who are intersted in building websites and from which I made the biggest amount
- Sell your scripts and emails to other freelancers: I call this selling failures 😂: I collect lot of emails, create lot of scripts to automate some work and if that doesn't work, I talk to them to my other freelancer friends and if they find it intersting, I sell them in small amounts for them like $20-$50

I don’t agree with the overall sentiment. OSU clearly dominated the playoffs and is a worthy national champion.
But I just hope we don’t start downplaying traditions like The Game because it’s a 12 team playoff.
