2025.01.22 00:31 tarunteam Need help with aquarium stand.

Need help with aquarium stand. I built my own stand for a 60 gallon rimless cube. I was testing the tank on the stand and it doesn't look like the plywood is flat. There is a bump on the right left side thats causing the front left edge to float. They screws are covered, so pretty hard to remove them. I added about 15 gallons to see if it would help and so far doesn't look like much change. Do I need more water or wait longer in it to get the plywood to flatten? If it can't flatten out by itself some options I was thinking of are pouring some self leveling epoxy, this foam pad, maybe a sheet of 1/8th ply? Suggestions?

2025.01.22 00:31 ThePhilosopher1923 Historical Anxiety 2: Presentism, Uncertainty, Disorientation (with François Hartog) | Monday January 27th 2025

Historical Anxiety 2: Presentism, Uncertainty, Disorientation (with François Hartog) | Monday January 27th 2025 We live in a time of acute historical anxiety. This anxiety manifests itself in various forms: ambivalence about our relationship to the past, a disorientating sense of ever-accelerating change, the fear of an unpredictable and uncontrollable future. How we conceive historical time is an essential component of the human effort to order and control lived reality. Historical anxiety occurs when established understandings of time no longer seem adequate to actual historical developments. This series will explore historical anxiety in the present and how it impacts our understanding of the past and future.
Uncertainty, disorientation, and insecurity are the words most often used to describe the current conjuncture in our historical understanding. It is a double temporal disorientation provoked, on the one hand, by what François Hartog has called “presentism”, and on the other, by the unprecedented temporalities of the Anthropocene. In this event, François Hartog will address some fundamental questions arising from this disorientation: How do we deal with the conflicts between the times of the world and planet time? Doesn’t entering a new cosmos call for a new history: a cosmo-history?
About the Speaker:
François Hartog is best known for formulating the concept of “regimes of historicity” (ways that the past, present, and future are conceived in relation to one another). He is Professor Emeritus of Historiography at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris. Among his honours are the Légion d’Honneur (2013) and the Grand prix Gobert of the Académie Française (2021). His books in English translation include Regimes of Historicity: Presentism and Experiences of Time (2015) and Chronos: The West Confronts Time (2022). His most recent book is Départager l’humanité: Humains, humanismes, inhumains (2024).
The Moderator:
Nicholas Halmi is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Oxford and Margaret Candfield Fellow of University College, Oxford. His current research is concerned with historical consciousness and historicization in the aesthetic realm, and with cultural periodization and the concept of Romanticism. Among his publications is The Genealogy of the Romantic Symbol (2007). He is completing a book called Historization, Aesthetics, and the Past.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the series "Historical Anxiety" convened by Nicholas Halmi and sponsored by University College, Oxford:
"Historical Anxiety" will explore anxiety about the historical present and how it impacts our understanding of the past and the future. Among the manifestations of this anxiety that will be discussed are the sense of an unending and inescapable present, the feeling that time is accelerating uncontrollably, the troubled memorialization of historical events, and the relationship between power and differing conceptions of history.

About The Philosopher (https://www.thephilosopher1923.org/):
The Philosopher is the longest-running public philosophy journal in the UK (founded in 1923). It is published by the The Philosophical Society of England (http://www.philsoceng.uk/), a registered charity founded ten years earlier than the journal in 1913, and still running regular groups, workshops, and conferences around the UK. As of 2018, The Philosopher is edited by Newcastle-based philosopher Anthony Morgan and is published quarterly, both in print and digitally.
The journal aims to represent contemporary philosophy in all its many and constantly evolving forms, both within academia and beyond. Contributors over the years have ranged from John Dewey and G.K. Chesterton to contemporary thinkers like Christine Korsgaard, Olúfẹ́mi Táíwò, Elizabeth Anderson, Martin Hägglund, Cary Wolfe, Avital Ronell, and Adam Kotsko.

2025.01.22 00:31 dillydilly1187 Grapefruit and grapefruit juice is bad for psych medications

Hi! This may be common knowledge but I just recently found this out. As someone who has been on psych medications for years, I never knew grapefruit can cause bad side effects to your medications. I take latuda / buspirone / adderal. It says on latuda specifically that it stops the breakdown of the medication which can lead to basically any side effect that would occur without taking it. It says mainly it will cause dizziness and drowsiness.
Hope this helps someone else since I never knew this and I love grapefruit and now can’t eat it haha.

Verification of Death I’ve had this since January 3rd and no one’s been any help. I’ve appealed 3 times and talked to customer support so many times! I’m on IOS and I’ve tried just about everything to get this error to go away. Should I contact a lawyer at this point? It’s getting rediculous!

2025.01.22 00:31 No-River8803 Rented a Car Through Expedia with Third-Party Insurance—How to Handle Bumper Damage?

I rented a car through Expedia and purchased insurance from a third party (not the car rental company). I just noticed damage to the bumper. I’ve heard it can be challenging to handle claims with third-party insurers, so I’m unsure about the best way to proceed. Could you advise me on the proper steps to take?

2025.01.22 00:31 fell-deeds-awake 4WD rental options?

I'm seeing Big Bend Jeep Rentals in Marathon listed on the [Visit Big Bend](https://visitbigbend.com/vehicle-rental/) website. Are there any other companies closer nearby that rent 4x4 vehicles? I'm not opposed to driving to Marathon and renting one for 2-3 days to get to some of the more inaccessible locations in the park, but if there's something closer to Terlingua, I'd prefer that.
For context, we're driving from out of state and will be spending a week, staying a short distance north of Terlingua & Study Butte. We have a Kia Sorento AWD (that can manually lock in AWD for speeds under 25 mph), but from what I'm reading that may not be the most suitable for reaching places like Ernst Tinaja, Pine Canyon, Mariscal Mine, and Mariscal Canyon - and maybe even Old Maverick Rd?
