2025.01.22 01:22 Prestigious_Mix_5157 should i switch majors?
Iām 20 years old, currently studying engineering, but Iāve realized I donāt enjoy it and Iām not happy in the program. Iāve been thinking about switching for a while but didnāt know it was an option until recently. I hate using SolidWorks, most of the courses I take, and I probably wonāt want to work in engineering after graduating. Iāve completed 75/151 credits for my engineering degree, but Iām considering switching to a 90-credit general science degree, where all my credits would transfer, and Iād only need 6 more courses to graduate. Im considering science because i can graduate the soonest and it has the most transfer credits.
If I switch, Iād graduate 3 years sooner and could use that time to work hard, save, and invest. I already have $50k saved and have been running a dropshipping business for 2 years. My dad has a business, and I plan to become his business partner to grow our income and invest in real estate and other ventures. My backup plan, if entrepreneurship doesnāt work out, is to pursue an MBA. Which would work and i enjoy studying business more from the electives i have taken.
The main thing holding me back is the fear of leaving a prestigious degree like engineering, even though I know I donāt enjoy it and wonāt use it. Iām worried a general science degree might limit future job prospects if I need to pivot later. But i am confident i can build prestige with other ways such as real estate
TL;DR: 20M studying engineering but not happy and donāt like it. Hate most courses and wonāt work in the field. Considering switching to a science degree to graduate 3 years sooner, where Iād focus on working, saving, and investing. Worried about leaving a prestigious degree even though all credits transfer. So, I'm posting this to ask a question and make a suggestion:
1: Big Brothers Big Sisters is an organization that is apparently woefully in need of male volunteers. As someone who is very concerned about the ways that men are growing up, I think that the best way to help them avoid the more extreme elements of the online is to show boys and young men that they matter: That they are valuable in and of themselves without strings attached. I've read reports that something as simple as soccer matches in the middle east can help ease tensions between groups of people, making taking a kid out to games or the museum who would otherwise spend his time alone in his room might help him grow on a better path.
2: I wanted to know if any of you have any experience with the organization? I'm wondering if you have, what are the kind of things you guys have done with your little? Any advice? I've just signed up and am going to my first virtual meeting in a little under a month.

Yo i had today a kinda weird dream but after i woke up i wanted to get back. So i was for some random reason in spain alone with my car (i dont got my licence yet) and i was driving past some typical italian spain streets like where the houses are next to each other. For some reason the streets were empty but i felt the whole time happy. So after a while i cant remeber exactly how i got there but somehow i met a teacher that i got in one of my classes and he had the exact same car as me so i told him about my car and we had a littel conversation. I then drove with him in his car and he dropped me of again at that street i was at the start. I met then my cousin and tried to tell him that he should also drive from switzerland with the car to spain as i did but he didnt agree with me and said it would be pointless and all that stuff. But the weird thing is that when i told my cousin that he was with me in spainā¦ dosnt make senceā¦ does anyone know it this dream means something? Cuz i dream rarely
