I am just looking for someone that can give me an overview of what the process will look like and around how many sessions it will take before we start getting into EMDR (I see her again at the end of this week, so I will definitely have a conversation with her about this. Just found this sub a few days about and have been thinking a lot about it and thought getting some input would give me some peace of mind). I went to a therapist for around a year and a half starting in 2020, but we mostly worked on surface level things like social anxiety and marijuana/alcohol use.
I knew that I wanted to get back into therapy at some point and really make the most out of each session, so I started using ChatGPT to plan out what I wanted to get into. This lead to me finally confronting some childhood trauma for the first time, but with it came a wave of intense emotions that I have never felt before. I realized that I couldn't work through this alone, so I went searching for help and was recommended an EMDR therapist.
Had my first session last week and felt very comfortable with my therapist right away. We spent the first session going over my history and what I am struggling with, and I am planning on getting into the childhood trauma next session. While I am slightly nervous about EMDR, I also feel very ready to face everything and get this process started.
I have seen a lot of posts about how it can take months to get to that point which has me a bit worried. I am just looking to see if someone can let me know what the typical process and timeline might look like. I've heard about spending some time going over resources, but I don't know what exactly that entails and how many sessions you typically will spend on that.
I know that it can be bad if you rush into it, but after confronting this situation (and breaking down first, but then feeling like a new person after) I feel like I am ready to take this on and start putting in the work. We already went through a lot of my defense mechanisms and I felt like I was able to be very open with her and felt very comfortable. I've seen many posts about how people felt like they were always putting up barriers/having certain mental blocks without knowing why and how this really helped them push past that and move on with their life, and I feel like I am ready to do the hard work and get to that place.

I don't know even know if its a one movie or two but I have a memory of two scenes of asian (most propably japanese but may be korean) horror movies set in medieval era I saw in my childhood. One scene is set indoors in some kind of brothel? a person walking by a wooden cages or cells with woman in them and all of them were trying to get his attencion but he notices one who isn't and she was hiding her face because half of it was disfigured. The other scene is set in a dark room of a house where one woman is getting unjustly punished for breaking a vase or something similar and other woman are putting needles under her fingernails.
