2025.01.22 11:04 FrumosUniverse I helped my friend who was being beaten.
This happened many years ago on Christmas Day (only reason why I remember which day), evening, either 2016 or 2017. I used to play Minecraft on this factions server (it was the popular mode of the time) and I was in a "faction" (think clan or guild) with a handful of other middle schoolers. We would all frequently Skype call while playing, sometimes to discuss plans, sometimes just chatter as we grinded. I can't even remember what we were talking about, but I remember being in my living room playing and hearing a door open over his mic and a woman start yelling at him. I remember hearing the beating she was giving him and how he grabbed his laptop and locked himself in the closet. The other kid in the call and I listened to him sniffle and we managed to convince him to run and grab the only phone his house had, which meant he would likely be beaten more if he got caught, to call 911. I remember asking my parents to let me stay on a little later (it was getting pretty late) so I could help and they let me. I remember listening to him talking to the operator over the call and us trying to comfort him as the sirens grew louder in the background. I remember hearing the officers talking and their walkie talkies beeping with the radio noises before the call ended. The last I heard, he was with his grandparents and safe. I still think about him around the holidays. I lost contact with him so long ago and I doubt I'll ever know what became of him. I hope he's doing okay. Sorry if you didn't like my post, I've never been able to share this with someone and I couldn't sleep with it on my mind tonight.

I know most fleamarkets sell mostly clothes or records, but when I was in Spain it was really easy to find retro games and old consoles too. I wanted to ask a recommendation of good fleamarkets to find retro games for a fair price? DS, Gameboy, GBA, N64? Because I hardly see those in here.

He had expected humans to behave like any other Pre-FTL society. After all, a species that referred to its planet as "Earth" (when it was clearly 70% water) surely couldnât present any further surprises. Could it?
Oh, how wrong he was.
"By the Great Squid of Znarrr," he gurgled to himself, running one tentacle across his sweaty forehead. "They just... they just never stop, do they?"
The data was incontrovertible. Humans engaged in their sexual rituals not during a specific season, but all the time. Every single day, across every climate, location, and mood. In blizzards, in deserts, in cramped metallic contraptions hurtling through the air, and even in large bodies of waterâparticularly perplexing given that humans seemed notoriously bad at breathing underwater.
Grwllp activated his surveillance pod and selected one of the recordings. It featured two humans engaged in what they referred to as flirtingâa ritual marked by awkward laughter, the subtle yet deliberate touching of hair, and the gradual, almost magnetic closing of the distance between them. From there, things escalated very, very quickly.
But what fascinated Grwllp most about humansâso much so that he had to sit down (which, for him, involved folding his body into a sort of pile, like a deflated bouncy castle)âwas the discovery of adult films. Initially, he assumed this term referred to instructional footage for maturing offspring.
Oh, how naĂŻve he had been.
Adult films turned out to be videos of humans engaging in sexual practices for the visual consumption of other humans. There was an entire subsection of the species dedicated to producing these films, which were then distributed to enthusiastic consumers via a communication network called âthe internetâ.
Grwllp wasnât entirely sure, but the human term âviewsââwhich appeared beneath the titles of these adult films, and was accompanied by varying numbers of cumulative figuresâseemed to imply a kind of collective voyeurism on a planetary scale.
Grwllpâs final report to the Galactic Academy of Biological Studies, titled HumansâA Species in Constant Heat, was received with both fascination and disbelief by galactic scholars. Discussions about the findings quickly went viral on galactic media networks, and before long, the galaxyâs denizens were consumed by curiosity.
The adult films Grwllp had attached to his report became the most downloaded files in the history of the Academyâs archives, and Galactic tourism corporations, always eager to capitalize on new trends, began arranging trips to Earth.
