If this is still considered "political" no worries about deleting. My existence as a transgender person is not a political stance nor is it a choice in the first place. I do not want nor did I ask for my existence to become part of political debate and I am distraught to see it be one. I will acknowledge though that it has become political, and that is beyond my control, so if there is a better sub to ask this question on, please refer me to it.
This is just a post for me to gain understanding of the potential future legal situation me and other transgender Americans may be put in if executive orders come to take effect in regards to the validity of government identification/documentation. I do not intend to be political and will not comment on any political opinions (neither should you).
Disclaimer out of the way...
If it is made legal requirement for ID sex/gender markers to match a binary F or M as determined by reproductive anatomy, what will happen?
All my current identification and paperwork, except for my birth certificate, has my preferred gendesex marker. Last year I had my legal name changed in probate court and sex/gender on ID changed (at the Social Security Office, DMV, with insurance, etc.) to match my personal identity and preference. However, on account of being transgender, that gendesex marker would not be legally accurate if the executive order becomes fulfilled.
For further context, I have not changed the name or sex/gender on my birth certificate because I was born in Utah. The state largely is not friendly towards transgender people and I do not have the time or finances to easily visit the state to get them changed in an in-state court, as is required for that state. All my other ID as well as changes made to them were done/issues in Connecticut (thus the tag, although I live in Vermont most of the year). I have always figured that there wouldn't be a scenario that would require me to use my birth certificate, and that if there was, I could present my current one along with my name change documents from court to prove it to be mine and move forward without issue. Should I be concerned or take any legal action to change my birth certificate or am I correct in thinking this?
If the proposed legal changes are enacted, would my current ID become defunct? If it was going to, would I know ahead of time so that I may leave the country legally (using that passport/ID while still legally accurate) before that happens? Would there be some legal process I could undergo to keep my current legal gendesex considered accurate despite policy changes? Could local state laws protect me from any changes, and in that case, would my ID only be legal within those states?
My mother believes that implementation would only affect ID which are issued in the future but currently issued ID would remain considered valid, but I am not confident in that being true.
I do not fully understand how executive orders work or what implementing this specific one would entail, but my Googling has only confused me further. If anyone who actually understands how legal stuff works could provide some insight or guidance as to what is happening or what will/will potentially happen so that I can be prepared for any legal processes or other life changes that the situation may entail, that would be very appreciated.  | So I only recently took up a Scion only army since World Eaters has kind of fallen on hard time from what I hear. I wasn’t really doing well with that army and thought maybe Scions would be a better fit for me. Built a army that I thought maybe would work well, and the match I had was the roughest I’ve ever had. Scions vs Dark Eldar, Drukhari got the first turn and proceeded to instantly one shot one of my Taurox Primes. Rest of the match went about the same way, with all my vehicles getting destroyed by Ravagers and Raiders, followed up with Kabalite warriors mopping up the squads that were inside. I don’t know what I did wrong besides have really, really bad rolls. Tried to stick to cover and remembered to use my “Storm Trooper” hit re-rolls, I don’t think I forgot anything. Won’t lie, lost my cool a bit after getting bodied so hard. This was in a game with a friend and I’ve played him 5 times in a row and lost hard every time it feels. Anyone have any tips or tricks I should know about? If not for how to play Scions, then on how to just keep cool after getting curbstomped so often? I really don’t want to get into how everything started but needless to say, I’ve been getting scammed for about a year and have lost/gotten into debt because of all of this nearly $100k…. I don’t know where to start… I’ve reached out to debt consolidation to get the credit cards off of me but I need that money back… it was money that was gifted to me that was supposed to help me move my life in the right direction and I was talked into “doubling” it through “investing”. But I’ve been reported for fraud because of how this scammer has used me. I sent the money to a “lawyer” to pay it back but that’s lost now…. Hey y’all. To think 2025 is starting off much worse than 2024(2024 almost took me out!) did , I’m dreading the rest of this year.
I know nobody cares for the sob story, but I’m gonna just lay out the details in hopes someone will feel my plea for help and answers in all of the uncertainty in my life right now. Because I am truly truly struggling. All the way around - mentally, physically & financially. I think I fully understand now why people completely end things for themselves when it comes to financial instability.
My son is autistic. He has occupational therapy evaluations after sitting on a waiting list for the last 4 months and currently goes to Speech Therapy twice a week. Speech Therapy is a 20 minute ride one way and Today I got the call from an occupational therapist who said they are willing to evaluate my son and it’s time to schedule said evaluation, but I had to tell her I would call her back because I don’t have the funds to get there. I can’t lose this spot on the waiting list. I have to call them back today and schedule this appointment. The evaluation will be in Orlando and I’m in Daytona. It’s about a 55 minute ride one way. I have a vehicle but no fuel. I also have three dogs and less than a quarter of a bag of dog food left that I’ve been stretching for the last three days, they’re hungry. That’s all I have to say about them. I have a blood disorder that causes me to go to the cancer center three times a week to receive iron infusions because my body doesn’t produce blood. Period. I don’t produce blood. I have to get regular blood transfusions and iron infusions. The cancer center of Daytona is 22 minutes away from my home. And to top off allllll of this fuckery- I was unable to pay my mortgage for the month of January because of my current situation.(I’m not looking for a Mortgage fix, I am just throwing that little tidbit in there so you know where I’m really standing or lacking.)
I have about 150 job of applications out within my local area. Now that my son is back on the up and up and doing well in school again, I am looking for a day job during the day while he’s in school because I have to drive him to and from, he does not get a bus.
I’m looking for a loan of about $500- $700 that I can pay back in smaller increments until I receive my taxes that i have to do tomorrow. In October, I became a single mom and my son started bawling first grade with all of the craziness going on in our lives. I had to leave work so as of right now I am unemployed, but I have worked and I claim my child and am receiving a half decent refund That I already got an advance on.
I have chime PayPal and Cash app. I know cash app is a trigger word here for scammers so if we need to stay away from cash app- understood. I prefer chime as I don’t have much experience with PayPal and I’m not comfortable using it yet. I can show you. I’m more than happy to show you anything you ask of me I’m a real person. I’m a real mother. I’m in a real bad place. I’m just looking for a little bit.(or $500 worth) of help to get me through while I get things situated and find employment. His Social Security only covers my mortgage payment. I actually have to put funds into my account to pay the mortgage. But I am not worried about February mortgage. I have that covered and hopefully with have a stream of income by then. The $500-700 will literally be spread out over the next 3 weeks with solely food & fuel. Two of the most expensive things we are all paying for it right now.
I know this is a lot and if you got here, thank you. And if you get here and feel the need or desire to help a struggling mom of a special-needs child, I will be eternally grateful. I’ve never asked for help like this before so I’m having a really hard time hitting this post button and I think that’s why I’m just rambling now.
