I’m in the early stage of my career (working in tech startup). My job is remote, and the salary is quite good. However, the issue is with the work. I work with US colleagues all the time, but the tasks I receive are mostly bug fixes or small features. Sometimes, I work on features that are already implemented, and I just need to ensure parity with other environments. Meanwhile, my teammates get exciting features to work on. I feel like they hired me to do mundane work. It has been around two years, and I’m still in the same situation. Most of the time, I’m not involved in design discussions; they simply assign me coding tasks. I feel that as time passes, this will hinder my career growth. If I ask my lead to assign me challenging features and I fail to deliver them on time, it could create trouble since I’m working in a startup where we have to follow strict timelines.
In my free time, I’m learning new things. However, I’m considering leaving the company, but I’m hesitant because I’m unsure if the next company will offer me a remote job.
What’s your opinion? What should I do?

I’m an account manager for an elevator company and often times I hear from the field that “they don’t make things like they use to/to last.” Which I certainly can agree with.
A situation I’m becoming increasingly aware of is rope quality and durability.
Are there ropes that mechanics prefer, and are they easy to secure? Currently we can only send an order form to our supplier, and it’s a pick of the litter on what they will give us.
The lack of quality is making us re rope in a short span, or having to come back after roping to shorten ropes because they don’t come pre stretched.
Ideally, I would like to be able to go straight to the source for rope orders regardless of price, but have no idea the feasibility of this.

Si it’s been 3 days without Porn. And I’m thinking , to binge watch it tonight. My logic is, now it’s gonna be one of the last times I’ll be able to do this, as if I want to quit it completely, these ‘first days’ are the ones where I’m more prone to fail. And thinks that I won’t be able to watch it ever again, makes me want to say a proper goodbye, and this may be one of the last opportunities. Opinions, thoughts… I know this ain’t the right thing to do tho.

2025.01.22 19:24 The_Omegaman What am I missing on the 4% rule? Why can't it be the 9%?
For a 10 year FIRE before I can access 401K, I've done several spreadsheets on the return rate on $1M. If I wanted 85K a year to live on(I don't care about inflation), I could setup a portfolio with a 4% yield and 5% return on average (SCHD + some other ETFs and stocks). This would give me 90K a year every year. In the end, I would have 5K extra to spend. So next year, Id have $1.005 Million the next year.
Additionally, I estimated 100K in emergency funds if any given year didn't return the 5%(I would always have next year's return in hand on Jan 1, eg year 1 I have 45K). The 4% yield should be given as the yields should remain or even grow over time. I've even run the numbers with losing years early in the cycle but over 10 years I should average 5% returns (history of the ETFs/stocks).
What am I missing in my calculations? Why is 4% the standard? Why can't I take the 9%?
