I'm looking to improve my attic condensation/ice buildup issue and thought I'd reach out to the subcontractor. I recently had a contractor sent over from our insurance company to assess the situation. He recommended that I seal around a specific vent with what he described as a collar that wraps around the vent pipe and sandwiches up against the plywood. I havenāt been able to find what this type of part is called or where to buy it. The contractor pretty much disappeared into the night before I could ask.
Does anyone have any idea what something like that would be called? Or should I just spray foam around the vent and move on?

2025.01.22 19:58 virtualmnemonic I'm too focused. It's killing my productivity.
I have no qualms about my sheer ability to focus for hours on end. I find myself relentless in the pursuit of writing large amounts of code and developing software, a practice that brings me much joy.
But I'm missing the forest for the trees. What I'm accomplishing is not actually productive. I spend 95% of my time rewriting already functional code. I continuously refactor functions in the name of making it look pretty or even save a few CPU calculations that take nanoseconds anyway. In the process, I'm liable to introduce new bugs and break what was fine to begin with.
ADHD is not necessarily a deficit in focus. It's a deficit in the executive functions that serve to enable us to focus on the right things. What really matters in life. I'm tired of these petty distractions. I'm going to do better for me.

Long story short - I did the job in his online tool (standard thing for translation projects)...before Christmas. I've sent him a reminder after the vacations, he replied, oh sorry, was on vacations, I'll get back to you. Of course, he's unresponsive again. I've sent him another reminder which he, I guess, ignored.
And now? I don't have a file to "submit" and I have no clue in how to deal with the situation without messing things up...I have a JSS of 100% and would hate to get it spoiled because of such a situation...
What do you guys suggest? I wouldn't mind to wait if he is around and tells me that is doing things, but I think that he'll never reply me at this point. I completed the work a month ago...didn't see a penny. It's the first time it happens to me in 15 years...I understand that I probably have been very lucky with my clients (not that I never met hard-to-deal-with douchebags), but still I'm stuck with this problem.
Any advice will be more than welcome.

Hello, has anyone ever studied conservation biology in any form at VUW? I am looking to begin in Tri 2 and just wanted to see if you enjoyed it, was it helpful, and any advice?
My main reason for study is I have been struggling to find a career in ecology and a lot of feedback has mentioned post grad qualifications.
I also donāt have a B+ average so I can only do PGDIP and then if I get a B+ average in my first tri then I can transfer to a Masters. I am wondering how easy you believe it to be to get this average?
Also, is taking 3 courses in 1 Tri stressful or is it okay? Course advisor says to take 2 but the course coordinator says most people take 3 and Iām looking towards the 3 route.
Any tips/advice would be good!

Used nicehash to mine on my computer a while ago, received an email about my account going inactive so I checked and I had like $400 in my account, nice I thought to myself. So I log in using the emergency backup code for the 2FA because I have a new phone. Once in it wonāt let me get to any of my account settings to turn off or reset 2FA because I have to submit proof of address. Oh well, I figure Iāll just withdraw the 400 and call it a day. Jokes on me, it requires a 2FA code to withdraw and the backup codes donāt work. Okay so I submit the paperwork to prove my address per the instructions and the document is rejected and Iām logged out automatically. This repeated until I had submitted about 6 documents that all met the requirements and now Iām out of backup codes and cannot log in at all. I reach out to customer service multiple times but theyāre all automated responses and they send me an invoice to reset my KYC when they were supposed to send me an invoice ($10 btw) for resetting 2FA and now Iām completely stuck until the wrong invoice they sent me expires in two days and maybe they send the right one. Never using nicehash for anything ever again.
