2025.01.22 19:57 modernmanshustl Help me avoid mandatory air and cliffs.
In about a week, I’ll be returning to CB to ski. I skied there for the first time last year and I absolutely loved it. I am a competent yet cautious skier and I like to keep my skis on the snow. All other terrain is great but I’m concerned about encountering any place I might need to jump. Assuming good snow conditions , I’d like some tips on what to avoid or where to go. Last year, we frequently asked people on the mountain if there was any mandatory air where we were going. This year, I’d like to do better planning. I had a great time skiing Teocali, spellbound bowl, lower third bowl and some other runs I can’t remember. Are there any places to absolutely avoid where I might encounter mandatory air or is the best way to navigate to ask fellow skiiers out on the slope? Thanks for helping me be safe!

It's no-brainer last few years in Canada has been disastrous but has it always been this way?
There are some group of people especially in the US who live for so many years but cant get their GC for number reasons tend to apply and receive Canada PR through express entry whilst living in the US. They would move temporarily to Canada for few years to fulfill residency requirements so they can get their citizenship and return back but now they have Canadian passport as a back up if things don't work out for them in the States.
There is also another group of people who have already planned their move to the USA even before arriving to Canada.
Apply for masters degree in a STEM related field -> After graduating apply for PR -> Receive PR in a year -> Apply for citizenship and live there for few years -> Once Passport has arrived, immediately move to the USA
Why does the Canadian government allow this to happen?

If I am honest with myself, I do not want to stop drinking. I WANT to want to stop, but I just don't. In the past, I had more motivation and even quit for over a year. Now, I just don't seem to care anymore.
I've done several sobriety groups, therapy, exercise, journaling, etc. Nothing seems to help me change my mind right now.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Did something specific help you get out of this rut?
I welcome any thoughts, ideas, and kind replies. Thank you!

I'm 19 and 1 year late for college (it's a long story) but I'm planning to go this 2025-2026. I wanna go to this university that has a collaboration with a known and prestigious university in the US, which will be good for me since I wanna work there after college. The problem is that it's 3-5 hours away from our house and I would probably need to stay in an apartment. Which my parents DONT want, throughout my teenage years they have been like that. I didn't get to live my teenage years to the fullest because I was either taking care of my little siblings or they just won't let me. It really breaks my heart because it is not a money issue, if it were, i would've been more than understanding. But it's not, they just don't trust me. They are so afraid that I would be like them (they had me when they were young). A lot of people would want their children to be in that school but they can't afford it and it's sad that we CAN and they are choosing not to. I know i might sound ungrateful, but I chose this school for various of reasons (that they wouldn't even hear me out on). If there are other schools in my hometown (province) that is nearly as good as this school, I would definitely go there, but there ISN'T. I really really don't know what to do anymore. I have been sober (smoking and alcohol) for over 6 months now but this made me resort back to it. It's so suffocating, truly.
