I've been looking into more SO-based architecture since listening to Ryan Hipple's 2017 talk, but I'm struggling to find the right places to use it. I understand how everything is wired together in his talk, but my problem is leveraging it to make production and iteration faster.
If anyone's been in a similar boat and could spend some time talking it through with me, that would be incredible!! I've read through all of the documentation and resources I could find online and I really with I had someone to pair-program me through an example or two.

Is it normal to want to abandon my first game and start fresh with what I've learned? I feel like I have so many inefficiencies, junk builds, etc and that starting fresh would be the easiest fix.
I have so many hours in this game and am just curious if anyone else got to this point on their first playthrough.

Hi there. I had an interaction this weekend and am trying to figure out what kind of response was warranted. I went to visit a friend and they were all having pizza. Totally fine, I just said I wasn't eating any. We were going to play a game, so since their hands were all covered in gluten, I asked if everyone could just rinse their hands even (not even soap) before we set up the cards. I the table was actually covered in flour from the pizza as well as crumbs, but I didn't say anything. After I had asked about the hand washing, one friend made a couple jokes like "ok eating is done", or joking people have to wash their hands again after touching a cookie.
I ended up walking it back because I realized the table was also covered in crumbs, so the hand washing wouldn't do much of a difference and I didn't want to bother people.
My question is - what would be the best thing to do here? Is it a decent enough risk to warrant asking people to wash their hands and wipe down the table? What would you do?

2025.01.22 22:01 gwdope DCS started freezing and not responding on long missions.
It’s happening almost every time I play for more than 1hr at a time and I cannot pin down anything that it correlates with. It’ll just freeze up and never responds requiring a force close of the program. The log will say “antifreez enabled” or “same module time” but it isn’t always the same messages at the end.
The most frustrating thing is that it’s happened before a few years ago and I was able to fix the issue but I cannot for the life of me remember what the magic combination was that fixed it (no wonder with the constant meddling to fix issues in this sim).
Sound familiar to anyone?

First-time poster here!
I’m a 21-year-old Canadian, born and raised in Canada. My father is from the US, and my mother is Canadian. They met in the US and eventually moved to Canada, where I was born.
Thanks to my father, I got dual citizenship and a US passport about two years ago, which is great! However, aside from visiting family in the US once a year, I’ve never lived or worked there—my entire life has been in Canada.
Recently, I’ve started getting into personal finances and wanted to open some new bank accounts. I discovered that every time I try, though, I’m prompted to confirm if I’m a dual US citizen. When I answer "yes," I'm asked for a Social Security Number (SSN) or sometimes a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). I don’t have either, and from what I’ve read, getting one requires going to the US in person.
Without an SSN or TIN, I’m stuck and unable to open any accounts. Now I’m not sure how to proceed, so I have a couple of questions:
- Would it be okay to mark myself as just a Canadian citizen, given that I’ve never lived or worked in the US? Could this lead to any legal issues?
- Should I consult a legal expert in situations like this? If so, what kind of professional should I reach out to?

Last summer I met a girl at the bookclub, we had similar interests. We used to hangout every weekend then couple of months later I had to go somewhere for two weeks we decided to meet after that but when I came back got ghosted, she stopped coming to the bookclub also didn't respond to ebook I had sent her as a birthday gift. Earlier this year I sent her final message as a closure told her how I enjoyed our conversations and never had a chance to say goodbye and it would be great if she could accept the gift, as expected still no reply. Surprisingly she hasn't blocked me just simply ignored me. In first couple of months of ghosting she also stopped updating her Storygraph which had me worried maybe something was going with her but then she was back on it, months later she also rsvped for bookclub but set it to not going after seeing me going. I continue to blame myself thinking about every detail about last time we met what I said could have caused that. So many questions yet no answer maybe in life no every question has an answer we just need to move on I guess. It's better to be blocked or to be told you don't want to talk with some then leave them hanging.
