Hello educators.
I am an aspiring teacher that would love to teach history due to my instructional nature and admiration for learning methodologies from my time as a Combat Instructor in the USMC. I am struggling with the thought of NOT liking things that aren't American wars and wars that shaped who we are today. Is it normal to not like certain subjects but have to teach them anyways? For me I am very disinterested in politics and the structure and all the nitty gritty. Is this the wrong field for me? I would love to teach Middle or high school.

I was raised Assemblies of God. Stopped attending when I was in my late teens to my mother’s dismay. She always wanted me to return but in the grand scheme of things she wasn’t terrible in how she handled it. She mostly tried to guilt me into going back by saying it would be her gift on Mother’s Day. Fast forward to me getting married my husband was raised Catholic, but was not practicing. My mother went every Sunday to an AG church close to home. She really wanted me to be married there and I agreed. 1. It was a nice looking church and 2. I wanted to make her happy. My husband and I did not attend this church and had no interest in becoming members. We were married by one of the pastors. Fast forward 6 years later and my cousin sends me an article of charges being brought up against the pastors of the church for covering up sexual abuse of a child. I feel absolutely disgusted. I feel terrible for the child and am so proud of them and hope they have all the support they need to get through this. And selfishly I’m like wtf do I do about my wedding photos? We have not printed any photos. I was already struggling with what to do as we have 2 people we are no longer friends with that were in our bridal party. And now on top of it we have to edit out the pastor? Any advice is welcome. I feel like my wedding day is tainted. It’s so disgusting.

I've read/watched hundreds of people's analyses of why they think L came to the point where he is now and I still can't get the full picture.
The media is trying to push back pain and failures in romantic relationships as a motive, but haven't we already decided that his surgery went well, and isn't it obvious that he had girlfriends and wasn't much interested in romantic relationships himself, favoring his lonely "intellectual" thoughts more? The general public came up with the image of the intelligent hero that everyone just "doesn't get". But L was pretty average in his thinking, except just academically very good. I don't see anything in his intellect that I couldn't understand. He's just a typical academic techno bro. Fans of conspiracy theories think of drugs, schizophrenia and "bad company" but it sounds like trying to explain something simple with an overly complicated theory.
So why did one year go from a very smiley, social, fairly typical techno bro with his typical "deep" ideas about capitalism and society to someone who is just completely lost in who he is and what he does.
It's absolutely a mental breakdown, but what preceded it?

2025.01.23 05:04 wgarym Commands that I can't find...
Geogebra is so awesomely customizable, but there are several small things I cannot find commands to control.
The major one is the font size and style of a text object. I swear I saw something on this at some point.
Another one that is a little more esoteric is the color of a checkbox -- not of the text, but the color of the box itself, either when highlighted or not.
Can anyone help, please? I do use the online manual, but it can be difficult to find a command if I don't already know its name. I think there used to be a comprehensive PDF version. Is that available somewhere? Kudos to the GGB team; this is such an awesome product.

2025.01.23 05:04 SD_TMI I'm going to put this out there. Growing your own food here in SD because the future might be uncertain.
FYI SDGE has it's own rebate program for planting fruit trees in your yard. They have a short list but I've been reliably told that they'll accept other kinds of fruiting trees (especially hybrids) that aren't specifically on the list.
It's bareroot season so that you can pick up a stone fruit or other tree for $30 at home depot and also inexpensively at the better gardenstores like Walter Andersons (the better trees with far greater variety) are is shipped in wood shavings and not soil. This is the cheapest way for most people to get a tree right now that will fruit in the next 2 years.
Also, this is a very good time to get a small flock of egg laying chickens. You can have 5 hens in San Diego as long as there's room and no noise complaints. Hens will produce eggs without a rooster being around on their own and the eggs will be far healthier and better nutritionally than those out of the store.
Everyone is making a big deal about egg prices and they're right... but you can get your own birds, raise them yourself and you'll have much better eggs and even meat to insulate yourself from future shortages.
Yes it'll take a few months to raise them to maturity and you'll have to spend 15 minutes feeding and watering them in their coop area each day (overhead) but they are great for getting rid of table scraps and also serve as pets (depending on breed).
The best part is that bird flu is going to continue to get worse and with this new administrations shutting down of the health, FDA and other departments concerning food and medicine, it's a damn good idea to get these started so that you have something and you know where your food is coming from and it's safe.
Also chickens will turn kitchen waste in to food.

2025.01.23 05:04 tmb4x AITA for not breaking up with my pregnant girlfriend?
I have been sleeping with Sara for the past few months.
Recently we found out she is pregnant. It was an accident. We are Muslim so she doesn't have many options and it's OK. I told her I will marry her. I have feelings for her already and we both want the child.
The problem is that her parents are obviously not happy about it. They think I'm not good enough for her. They want her to abort the baby (which is illegal btw) and go live with them. Her life will be literal hell if she does that.
Her family has always been neglectful and pretty abusive so I told her that I love her and am willing to support her and our child. She had to choose between me and her parents because it's clear her parents won't ever approve of us. She chose me. (I didn't tell her to choose. We discussed the options and she herself realized this)
Her dad called me last night and he was fuming. He called me a bunch of names which were worse than asshole and demanded I do the "right thing" and break up with his daughter.
