2025.01.23 07:02 Lets_Get_Tropical93 Dfas Debt Collection
So around the end of 2023, beginning of 2024, I received a call from collections about a debt I owe Dfas. Mind you, I got out in June, 2021 but went on terminal leave around April 2021. Long story short I was told I owed $420 (original debt was 315 but now 420 due to interest) but the thing is I never knew about the debt.
So after that call, I gave Dfas a call to ask about the debt but since the address they had on file did not match any address I knew, I had to submit a trouble ticket via Dfas.mil to change the address to my current address which took 2-3 months for them to change. Once it was changed, I called Dfas back to which they said it was a travel debt and that they sent the debt letter to what fort hood finance had on file which come to find out that not only was it an address that I never lived at, it was my old brigades address and it was sent a whole year after I had ETS’d. After telling them this, they put in a trouble ticket of their own to try to bring the debt back from collections so that a way I didn’t have to pay on the interest and they told me it would take up to 30-60 days.
Around the 50 day mark, I decided to call because I was still receiving calls from collections about the debt. They said they were unable to bring the debt back because they could not get ahold of the collection agency they sent it to because they didn’t have a number so I gave them the number that had been calling me. Dfas then annotated that they now have the number and to call back in about 30 days. 30 days pass and I call back(which was yesterday) to check the status, got out on hold for 30 minutes so they could figure out what’s going on. Come back to tell me that they couldn’t pull the debt back because the collectors won’t respond to Dfas apparently so I ask does that mean I have to pay collections and she said it seems so.
At this point i get a little upset and tell them that I have been dealing with this over a year just to be told I need to pay collections even though I was never formally told about the debt until collections informed me. She proceeds to indirectly blame me for not informing fort hood finance and Dfas that I changed my address even though I had been out for a year when they sent that letter to an address that I never lived at so that’s when I lose it and tell her I got three separate forms stating I was out of the military prior to the letter being sent and those three forms were given to finance when I final’d out with an address that was 2 hours away from base.
My question is should I just go ahead and pay the debt? If I were to dispute it, what do you think my chances are?

I’m in an area where we are forecast 95mph wind gusts. I looked at the models and the storm is still on track with parts of western Ireland seeing as much as 130mph.
I am worried for the people on the west of Ireland. Winds of that speed can literally tear a part houses.
Everyone is just going on about their lives willy nilly.
I have already told a few people about this and they have not listened to me.
Now is the time to get everything all tied up and to lock away anything that could act as a projectile.

2025.01.23 07:02 sunsetsarecool77 Tokyo to Niseko Train Trip via Tokyo Station or Omiya Station?
Please excuse my ignorance, first time traveling in Japan!
I’m planning on taking a train trip from Tokyo to Niseko in late February and I’m wondering what the best route is for the first leg of the trip. I’ll be staying by Shinjuku Station, and considering between the following routes:
Marunouchi Line to Tokyo Station and boarding the Tohoku Shinkansen
Or
Saikyō or Shohan-Shinkuku Line north to Ōmiya Station and boarding the Tohoku Shinkansen
From my understanding the first option will give me more flexibility taking a local metro and then boarding the less frequent Shinkansen, but wondering if there would be any advantages to the second (avoiding having to bring a checked bag/potentially a snowboard and carry-on on the metro, easier transfer at Ōmiya vs Tokyo Station, etc).
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

2025.01.23 07:02 serpsie Reworking Ascension. What are your thoughts?
This probably won’t get a lot of traction considering the hype around the Cleric, but I’ve seen the topic come up a few times and I have some thoughts.
So it’s one thing to obtain the Amulet of Yendor; as we all know, ultimate goal is to get it and take it to the surface. You want to get your nice little portrait and another entry in your Hall of Heroes. Take a pic of your build and share it on Reddit.
But frankly, that part of the run? The part where you stop being so slow and methodical and the game all but changes into a roguelike race.
I get it, I appreciate the lore; the Amulet is exerting it’s evil over the denizens of the dungeon, it’s a race against its power to escape and the only thing that weakens it is to smite down one of monsters it’s buffed.
Okay, that’s cool. But personally, on ascents i work one of two strategies; counting the spaces between me, the stairs and the monsters around me before I make a run for it, or actually remembering the game’s turn-based and ascending while carefully using up all the resources and hunting down certain mobs Rambo-style. And both have their perks. But like, it’s lacking. It’s a rat race style journey.
So how would one rework the great Ascension? Maybe nerf the enemies a touch and keep them dropping loot so you can pump your score a bit with gold? Maybe there’s even a new mob, a third (fourth) rework of the ghost; he’s red with a black face and is one of the dungeons Lost Souls, who only awaken when Yendor commands.
Maybe even one more optional side-quest on the way up? Adventurer and his friend had come for the Amulet but lost and then seperated. Can you please help him find his friend? He’s sure he went down this cavern passage. Prompt maze filled with random mix of every mob, “ghost versions” or whatever tf. Find friend who’s already dead, que “The Adventurer is driven mad by his lust for the Amulet! He screams at you to hand it over, and attacks!”. Something like that.
And faaark this was not meant to be such a fucking novel. Apologies. Hopefully my point is across and we can open discussion.
TL, DR; I have some ideas for reworking ascension I guess..? Once Cleric is done and Halls side quest etc. one day in the future maybe Evan will consider this aspect.

I’m working on a story and I’m trying to figure out if I should intentionally deceive the audience into thinking one thing when it’s actually the other.
For instance, within the fandom there’s a pairing that I am planning on writing. However part of the canon is that one of the characters has an evil twin. The idea for the fic is that the character without the evil twin thinks that they are dating the good twin and doesn’t even know about the evil twin. Neither does the good twin.
So the story is that the evil twin replaced the good twin and started dating the character without a twin. But the evil twin being evil and all, the relationship goes down a bad path. Eventually, everything gets revealed.
I’m wondering if I should intentionally reveal the deception through tagging it or not? There’s something fun about the idea of intentionally deceiving the audience like the evil twin is in the story.
Thoughts?
