2025.01.23 07:04 btred101 When repacking a faucet bonnet, do you leave the old rubber packing washer?
I've watched many videos of people repacking a bonnet with teflon or graphite rope. From what I can see, they loosen the bonnet nut, and don't take the nut off. So you can't really see what is underneath (I dunno if they have a rubber washer in their case, and they say nothing about it). They add the packing rope an re-tighten. In my case, I do have a rubber washer, so I'm not sure if I leave it in place or remove it before adding the rope? This is for a typical washer faucet (similar to an outdoor spigot).

The title pretty much sums it up.
I would like to improve and make sure I'm on the right track for making a comic as one of my 2025 art goals. I have a variety of things I would like feedback on, but I'm not sure where to ask. Also- how to ask. I could be bad at asking for critique, too. So, is there a place that is okay with asking for feedback on this kind of thing? Or any advice on how to go about asking for critique? I don't have artist friends IRL or friends who are familiar with comics, and I've not had much success in the subs I frequent. Also, I'm aware fanart isn't really seen as serious or a means for serious improvement. I get that. That said, if there is a place where I can get more than just compliments or told to just keep at it (this is obviously good advice, but of course I'm going to do that regardless of what others say), please do share. Thanks!

Apparently there's a wake of subreddit forums suddenly blocking users from being able to post links to X, the social media network. I do not agree with this, as doing so would block off the majority of average users on X, who do not use similar sites as Mastodon or Bluesky, from being able to contact us. I'm pretty bummed about this. I bought a couple strands of the clear Tru-Tone C9s based on the recommendations of seemingly everyone. Unfortunately, I think they're going to have to go back.
I've always been pretty sensitive to flicker, but thought I'd try these based on all the "sensitive" people claiming they don't see it at all. Unfortunately, I guess I'm an extreme outlier or something, because they look absolutely horrible. I screwed in one bulb and immediately knew it wasn't going to work. It's like a strobe light. Tried a few more, all the same. No way I'd put these on the outside of my house, let alone in my living area like I'd been planning.
I doubt it'll get anywhere, but I wrote a letter to Tru-tone suggesting that I'd buy a few sets of DC C9s if they ever decide to make such a thing. Until then, I guess it's incandescents or nothing.

This is a bit of an odd post because its not entirely about duster HOWEVER, about a year and a half-ish ago someone was leaving comments in this sub recommending people to check out his music because he took heavy inspiration from duster. I was one of very few who actually did. I followed them on insta and in their bio on spotify they mentioned how they were recovering from addiction. I LOVED their music but after 2 months or so of listening they deleted everything all the songs, the instagram account, etc. Their name was the melancholy bees and i guess im hoping that they see this post because i know they used to lurk here and i hope they are doing well. Im also wondering if anyone else remembers them at all.
