Only a few years ago, I discovered Erich Fromm (1900-1980). I have read only two of his books, and I cannot tell you how life changing his works have been as a former Evangelical Christian who has deconstructed his Christian fundamentalist worldview. Because of Fromm, I now wholeheartedly embrace humanism.
His bio on wikipedia says he was strongly involved in Zionism, but soon turned away from Zionism, saying that it conflicted with his ideal of a "universalist Messianism and Humanism". This is what he said about the state of Israel in You Shall Be as Gods: A Radical Interpretation of the Old Testament and its Tradition.

The Jews were in possession of effective and impressive secular power for only a short time, in fact, for only a few generations. After the reigns of David and Solomon, the pressure from the great powers in the north and south grew to such dimensions that Judah and Israel lived under the ever increasing threat of being conquered. And, indeed, conquered they were, never to recover. Even when the Jews later had formal political independence, they were a small and powerless satellite, subject to big powers. When the Romans finally put an end to the state after R. Yohanan ben Zakkai went over to the Roman side, asking only for permission to open an academy in Jabne to train future generations of rabbinical scholars, a Judaism without kings and priests emerged that had already been developing for centuries behind a facade to which the Romans gave only the final blow. Those prophets who had denounced the idolatrous admiration for secular power were vindicated by the course of history. Thus the prophetic teachings, and not Solomon’s splendor, became the dominant, lasting influence on Jewish thought. From then on the Jews, as a nation, never again regained power. On the contrary, throughout most of their history they suffered from those who were able to use force. No doubt their position also could, and did, give rise to national resentment, clannishness, arrogance; and this is the basis for the other trend within Jewish history mentioned above.But is it not natural that the story of the liberation from slavery in Egypt, the speeches of the great humanist prophets, should have found an echo in the hearts of men who had experienced force only as its suffering objects, never as its executors? Is it surprising that the prophetic vision of a united, peaceful mankind, of justice for the poor and helpless, found fertile soil among the Jews and was never forgotten? Is it surprising that when the walls of the ghettos fell, Jews in disproportionately large numbers were among those who proclaimed the ideals of internationalism, peace, and justice? What from a mundane standpoint was the tragedy of the Jews—the loss of their country and their state—from the humanist standpoint was their greatest blessing: being among the suffering and despised, they were able to develop and uphold a tradition of humanism.

Ich habe beim Kundenservice erfahren, dass der Vertrag in einem Shop mehrere hundert Kilometer entfernt abgeschlossen wurde. Die Person hat anscheinend ihre eigenen Daten (vermute ich, kann es natürlich schlecht prüfen) und meine IBAN angegeben. Ich habe vom Service eine Mailadresse erhalten, mein Problem geschildert und um die Daten betreffender Person gebeten, um ggf. rechtliche Schritte einleiten zu können. Gesetzt den Fall, dass man mir die Daten tatsächlich nennt — hätte ich Optionen? Wäre das nur strafrechtlich relevant (bei zugegeben geringem Schaden) oder wäre auch zivilrechtlich etwas zu machen? I used a CD to test the antiskate and noticed a small fine line that the stylus was leaving behind. I initially thought it was chipped so I tried another stylus and I got the same result after a few seconds.
It's unlikely both are chipped, does anyone have any experience with this?

Everyone is now only talking about img2vid using the commercial KlingAI. That’s all nice, but….
My vision, my pleasure and my budget are all reasons why I started with SD and ComfyUI years ago, in order to use only publicly shared Models/Loras/etc.
This said, why can’t we form a large community on Discord, and as a group effort create basically a clone (simple UI, similar results) of KlingAI and with the ability to run it locally on own pc and/or our own GPU servers? Divide tasks in teams and 1 large group of resource sharing community users.
- Team 1: Concept & Design
- Team 2: Code and Utilize the API for parallel training (distributed training) of own large public model from scratch
- Team 3: Group of thousands of users who allow Team 2 to access GPU resources
It will not only stimulate sharing, but also very educational. If technically it can all be done (the parallel training using eg. 2500 users with any RTX card), the visual results compared to KlingAI can even become much better, and on top of it all fully uncensored. As despite me personally not being interested in sick or even adult content it would still mean that I fully support censorship, which I don’t. Freedom and not being commercial also has its benefits obviously.
Just my thoughts, no idea how to set it all up, but maybe some people like to dive into the matter and see what’s even possible. But focus on fully public and always remaining free. Just like Stable Diffusion itself (yes, you are still in this Reddit, this ain’t a Kling group).

I have this desktop with water damage from a leaky flowerpot. It's faux wood grain on cheap particle board. Now, I'm aware that you can use something like a damp towel and a clothes iron to greatly reducing of even completely removing this kind of damage on solid wood (moisture and heat relax the fibers and so return them to their original state). There are plenty of tutorials for that online. However I didn't really find any information on whether that will work the same with particle board and I have doubts that it would, since particle board doesn't really have the same kind of "original state" to return to. I'm afraid introducing more moisture would simply make the damage worse. Any thoughts?
