I have never regularly been into weight lifting. It’s more of a job than something that I enjoy but hoping that it will change. Part of my problem is reading about different things to do and changing weekly such as lose weight first and then bulk or body recomposition.
I’m 5’4” and 156lbs. I’m not exactly sure what my ideal weight would be but I’m guessing between 140-150lbs and more muscle than fat. Maybe over time, 156lbs but muscle would be fine? I definitely to eat better and that’s where a lot of it starts.
Do I need to focus on a calorie deficit and lose weight first and then bulk up? Can I start eating more protein now but in a calorie deficit where I lose weight but bulk up at the same time? I’d like to build up my upper body so that I look fit with a good chest, arms, traps etc. How long does it take to start seeing a major difference? Should I take any creative, protein powders etc? How often should I work out and do I lift light with a lot of reps or heavy with fewer reps?
As you can see, I’m not educated enough to know where to start since everyone is built different. The 2nd picture is what I’m more looking for and probably a little bigger than that.

 | My puppy was on IAMS puppy food (chicken) when I got him. Around 11 weeks I tried switching him to Purina ProPlan Sensitive Stomach Salmon because he had some tear stains and I was wondering if it was food related. I very gradually switched to ProPlan but I noticed him scratching at his ears- they got dirtier- then these spots showed up not sure if they are related. I have now switched him back to IAMS chicken and he’s not scratching anymore and his ears are looking better. Still have the tear stains though. I have wrinkle wipes and paste for them. it wasn't worth it.
I was 11 days sober, my anxiety had nearly disappeared, and I wasn't feeling the dread like I normally would. Why'd I drink last night, then? Boredom, and because I could. I bought a 6 pack of IPA beer from the store (I would normally drink vodka, but decided against it because I have no control), and drank them over the course of a couple hours. All it did for me was made me feel nauseous and tired, and now, today, I feel anxious again. I slept like shit just for that.
Not worth it. I'm gonna try for a month sober this time.

My 10 year old kiddo turns 11 in a few days, and he knows I run multiple weekly rpgs. In fact, one of my players sent him a box set of D&D books for young folk as a Christmas present. I finally convinced him to crack them open a few days ago and he's on his second read already. It's wild to me that his reason for not wanting to read them in the first place was "someone gave them to me", because I know he likes D&D - we started a campaign with some of his classmates who are neighbors last summer
He's decided he wants to play D&D for his birthday. His party is small - he's only having 3 friends over, so it's definitely doable. Anyway, I am having a dumb writers block moment and I'm flailing at the idea of coming up with a one shot in a couple days. Can y'all hit me with some ideas? I can flesh things out if I've got an idea that resonates, but I'm struggling to think of an idea that get's the creativity going.
