I’m 17 and my parents are offering to help pay my HECS by paying the first year. Should I accept and just let them do it? Or ask for cash so I can grow my investment portfolio as I know it’s possible to perhaps create a higher interest rate compared to the indexation rate of my HECS. Or should I not accept the money (Around 16k) because I know that my parents are also paying off their mortgage and could use some of this money they’re offering to me.

I’m sure everyone is asking the same question, but I’m curious. Due to recent politics, TikTok is wavering in popularity and some people are staying and some people are going. Instagram is seeing a lot of accounts being deactivated in protest alongside metas other platforms.
I see Bluesky raising in popularity and I’m hopping on that bandwagon, but I was wondering if anyone else knew where people are going after deleting TikTok and their meta platforms?

for background i’m a freshman in college and live in a 2 bedroom apartment style dorm with 3 other roommates. i share a bedroom with roommate A, and roommates B and C share a separate bedroom. a week before i was supposed to move back in for the spring semester, roommate B texted me saying that his grandma was sick and he was the only one who could take care of her kitten. he said it was one month old, extremely quiet and that it would stay in their room for the entire time. we aren’t allowed to have pets but i said sure because it sounded like i wouldn’t even have to see it and i felt bad for his grandma. flash forward to move-in day, the cat is definitely not one month old. it’s a full grown cat and roommate C tells me that him and roommate B adopted it together for fun and are hiding it from their parents. i ask why they would hide it from their parents if it was roommate B’s grandma’s cat, and they admit the grandma story was a lie because they knew i would say no to having a cat in the dorm. i didn’t like that they lied but the cat was already here so i just figured i would try to avoid it. that turned out to be hard as the cat began following me around, peeing on three floor, jumping on the kitchen counter and crawling into the trash can and eating trash. it was overall really gross and not what i signed up for when i agreed to them temporarily housing what i thought was their sick grandma’s kitten. anyways, i emailed my RAs about the situation and they’re going to tell my roommates that they need to get rid of the cat or else animal control will come. i don’t feel bad because they lied and i shouldn’t have to deal with their untrained cat. AITA?

I posted about my long running saga (over 8 weeks) to get Disney Plus activated a while back in this sub. Finally, after opening an FCC report, within 48 hours, I was contacted and all the escalations and engineering is looking at it magically went away and it activated.
I am able to watch Disney Plus now but the date shown in my account does not seem to make sense. I should be getting 6 months free on my plan. I am posting what I see in my account under "Manage My Extras" and the date does not seem to make sense for a 6 month subscription.
