I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a scientist by any measure; that said, I’m nonetheless fascinated by this sort of thing.
That said, I read an article about an FRB being detected coming from an extremely large and old galaxy that’s about 11.3 billion years old. It was referenced as being a dying a galaxy, and I’m curious what that means and how that works.
Is a galaxy categorized as “dead” or “dying” when the rate of star production slows?
Hypothetically speaking, what happens to a fully formed galaxy when star production in that galaxy slows to a virtual stop? Does the galaxy maintain its structure and simply continue on as extant, but dormant (akin to a dormant volcano)? Can star production somehow restart?
Apologies, I know that’s a rash of questions that may not even make total sense in context. I’m totally unfamiliar with this, but very curious

My mother gave me a set of a beautiful korean wooden tableware that has a Ottchil (https://youtu.be/u1KruCSt5Sw ) lacquer finish technique on it, but it has a small chip in it that I’d like to repair before it gets worse, so that I can continue using it for a long time. My understanding of Ottchil technique is that is how traditional korean wooden tableware is made to be food safe!
I contacted an Ottchil artist in NY and they said they do not do repairs.
Does anyone know anyone I could get in touch with to do the repair work? The piece has sentimental value to me, so I'd like to spend good money to repair it properly.

I currently use Warp on a physical sim. When I travel internationally, I always have to activate international data on my esim.
I noticed that both darkstar and Lightspeed have native international roaming. If I were to swap to either one of those on my esim, would I still need to activate international data whenever I travel? Or should it work by default if I'm in a country that is supported on that Network?

I’ve just said goodbye to my dog, well, she’s my uncles dog but he raised me and I grew up with his dog.
I was 5 when she came into my life, I’m now 18. I don’t know how to live without her.
I’ve been through a lot of loss; my mum, dad, all 3 grandparents and my aunty. But this hurts on a whole new level.
She has been the one consistent thing in my life, she stopped me from killing myself for so long.
I’m in so much pain
I’m going to have a shower and get stoned, I need to go to work tomorrow so I need some sleep, I know it’s not healthy but I can’t bear to process it now
