2025.01.23 15:20 SnortsSpice Why does optical sound better for me?
I picked up the hw-q910d. I currently have an optical cable connecting it to my pc soundcard then a hdmi cable to my tv, lg b4, that is connected to my pc gpu(4080@).
I expected hdmi to sound better because hdmi things, not using pcm for spdif out and being limited to 7.1. But it just doesn't. The rear speakers even bad, like weak.
It makes me feel like I am over looking a setting or have it setup incorrectly.
My PC soundcard is an Asus xonar dgx, extremely outdated, but is what I currently prefer to use. I have the channels set to 8, sample rate of pcm 96hz, analog out of 5.1 and spdif is PCM along with being able to do 7.1 virtual speakers. These are basically the max settings the sound card can do.
Is there something i need to adjust in my gpu control panel, nvidia, TV or PC settings to make me enjoy hdmi performance more? Maybe I am just so used to optical cable that it made me bias?
My tv is set to bitstream over over pcm and auto.
I kind of think going from soundbar to TV to PC could be the issue.

Please help me better understand non-repudiation, see the question below:
"If Richard wants to send an encrypted message to Sue using a public key cryptosystem, which key does he use to encrypt the message? A. Richard's public key B. Richard's private key C. Sue's public key D. Sue's private key"
I know the correct answer is C. However how does this work if you wanted to add non repudiation into the mix?
Is the message initially encrypted using the recipient's public key and then a hash added using the sender's private key ?
In effect, the digital signature is just an encrypted hash using the sender's private key?

My top played/favourite games are; Witcher 3, Hades, Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2, Modded to hell Skyrim, BG3, Tyranny, FF16. Games I DNF'd or Returned; Space Marine 2 (lovely but im not a shooter fan), Dragons Dogma 2 (Janky kbm controls and even more janky story I couldnt get invested), POE2 (I prefer melee and dont like the two options available right now) Basically i love 3rd person rpgs, action is best but ill settle for turned based if the story is awesome and there's lots of class/ability customization. So I have been playing a game where 3 Civs in the same area all got wiped out in a dark age. So there are probably 20+ cities all fairly close together that are Free Cities. I thought that I could pick them off one by one, but there are seemingly endless hoardes of troops and as soon as I get a city, it flips back in a few turns. So I started razing the second line of cities in order to maintain the one closest to me. Is there any easier way to deal with this or is it one of those things that I should "let lie"?
I am playing Egypt Cleopatra on 6 difficulty if it matters.
