2025.01.23 16:55 tofton Tax filing on 401K withdrawal under the Rule of 55

Can someone walk me through what I’ll expect upon withdrawing money from 401K under the rule of 55?
If I withdraw $100, will I receive a tax bill on that withdrawal taxed at my tax rate in the year I turn 55 plus a 10% penalty that I could claim back later when I file my tax return? How does this rule work?
Somewhat off topic: Do I actually receive $100 or would my 401K vendor first send some placeholder tax withholding like 10% to IRS like how we receive our paychecks?

2025.01.23 16:55 boonan7 [0 YoE] - Mechatronics and ComSci looking for any feedback | 450+ applications

https://preview.redd.it/1i9uiu6ovree1.png?width=5100&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8a944601ba20d49e6785c97068e1188ad04a355
Have been looking for the past 5 months with 450+ applications, and only 6 interviews from different companies, all getting rejected. I would love some feedback to get a little bit more callbacks than just 6 haha.
Honestly, I've been applying to any and all types of roles. My internship experience has been in embedded and I believe that's what I enjoy the most. I'd mostly target Mechanical/Electrical/Robotics + Software/Embedded roles when applying.
Currently unemployed and have been applying to mainly roles in North America, and am very open to relocation.
My main challenges have been getting call-backs. I've felt all my job interviews have gone well, and have gone through multiple rounds for each, but I think I've been getting beat by people with actual experience.
I'd love feedback on how I structure my resume, as well as how my points are structured. I tried to always have a STAR structure in each points, going over what I did and what it resulted to.
Thank you so much for helping out!

2025.01.23 16:54 tiresomepointer The Tiffany Brien thread

This thread was the whole reason I got into tattle.
Tiffany used to be an influencer, pretty small time, from Belfast. She had a lot of Pmedia contacts and was known for a blog she had too.
Anyway, before crackdowns happened, Tiffany was terrible at not declaring ads and gifted items. She also plagiarised her recipes.
She kicked up a stink in 2017 when someone anonymously accused her of having an affair with a married man. She even went to the papers about it: https://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/ex-miss-ni-tiffany-brien-calls-out-troll-in-open-lette35732200.html
Well, I’d always wondered from then on if there was more to Tiffany than she let on. Honestly, I can’t believe how naive I was.
So… one night in 2020 when I couldn’t sleep, I remember googling her name. And there was tattle. With all the goss. It was an absolutely wild read, that culminated in her quitting Instagram for good.
Honestly seeing all the ridiculousness play out, really opened by eyes to a lot of the ways I was being totally naive in how I viewed influencers, and flagged how important it was to take it all with a pinch of salt - especially during lockdowns when I was on insta a lot more.
I’ve always wondered what happened to some of the prolific posters on that thread, so if you ever stumble across this, thanks for opening my eyes and providing some much needed perspective/distraction during a tough time!! I hope Tiffany has a laugh about it now too.

2025.01.23 16:54 Fuibuii 17 anos e aprendendo a poupar

2025.01.23 16:54 BeepWidget Water as medium for an orchid in ICU?

I have a Bcn. Aloha's Dream Dust that I am trying to revive after lots of root die-off from insufficient watering (I suspect). I'm wondering if I could just leave it sitting in water rather than in a pot? I've seen this method of orchid growing but have never tried it. Would I be better off just giving it a soak and putting it back in bark, or could I leave it in the water indefinitely? The leaves are looking so pruney. :(

2025.01.23 16:54 IMakasu With the introduction of Pokemon Tools, Adamant/Lustrous Orb are likely candidates

I was thinking about how Palkia could be integrated into new or existing decks, as "4-energy 150 + 20 to bench, discard 3 energy" seems way too slow. I'd initially thought that water decks would get a buff from some Item/Supporter, unless Dialga/Palkia got their orbs as items.
But, after watching the trailer more closely, and observing the introduction of Pokemon Tools, I'm leaning very much into the possibility of the Adamant/Lustrous orbs being tools specifically for Dialga/Palkia.

2025.01.23 16:54 tsayush Open Source contribution in the era of AI Agents

I've been a long-time open-source contributor, having worked on projects like Reactplay, Tembo, Julep, and more. I've not only contributed code, but I've also been a maintainer, managing multiple GitHub repositories. So, I've seen things from both sides.
With the rise of AI assistants like ChatGPT, Cursor, and Gemini, there's a growing trend of contributors using these tools to churn out solutions to issues and calling it open-source contribution. As a maintainer, I come across these baseless contributions all the time, where the code is AI-generated and doesn't actually solve the problem.
While working as a Reactplay maintainer, reviewing PRs and comments was part of my daily routine. Contributors would often try to game the system by using AI Agents to generate solutions to issues. I'd end up pulling my hair out because most of these 'contributions' were just AI-generated code that didn't actually solve the problem.
A major issue is that these AI Agents and GenAI models lack a holistic understanding of the project's codebase. This, coupled with their difficulty in accurately interpreting and addressing the core problem statement, often leads to a not-so-optimal or even incorrect solution. The use of AI-generated code in the open-source contribution has ruined the experiences of maintainers and made our work so much more difficult.
Contributors need to realize they need a solid understanding of security best practices to properly implement suggestions, instead of blindly following whatever crap the AI spits out.
I recently joined Potpie (https://github.com/potpie-ai/potpie), where we're tackling this issue with most GenAI models: their struggle to grasp the context of complex code and generate accurate outputs. Just to clarify—Potpie isn’t about promoting AI-generated code for open-source contributions. Instead, it’s designed as a helper tool for developers to better understand code and the various entities it consists of.
