I am a dual US/Canadian citizen with deep ties to my Ukrainian roots. I am very much an introvert, but I love helping others and volunteering. Currently I am trying focusing my volunteering on a Christian ministry to the homeless and the zoo in a neighboring city. I love camping and hiking and I have decided I really need to make a regular habit of camping on weekends I am off work. I am also currently kearning Ukrainian because I didn't learn it from my grandmother. Besides my family, my social life revolves around work colleagues, church and small group and the local Ukrainian cultural association. So besides this being a Christian dating Reddit where Christians want to meet other Christians, you should be cool with spending a lot of time around librarians and Ukrainians.
I was raised in a Christ centered home and have a good rekationship with my godly parents. I accepted Christ at a young age and always wanted to do the right thing. I did wander from Christianity at around 18 forvabout five years until I felt a call to return to Jesus as He is the only way. However, even in my wandering, I believed in God and wanted to follow Him, but I just wuestioned whether Christianity was the best way to God when in fact it is the only way. I read through my Bible yearly and was homeschooled under a Christian curriculum with Bible courses so I have a solid theological foundation. I attend church every other Sunday when I am off work. I usually attend my American church and an evangelical Ukrainian language church and then sometimes have a small group on Sunday so it's pretty packed with church all day. I honestly want to serve God with the takebts and passions He has given me, but I have been hurt abd frustrated by major denominational missions organizations that led me on and then just sidt of dropped me when my introverted personality couldn't raise a massive budget so I am kind of focused on serving through volunteering with local ministries and looking to visit Ukraine with guidance from my Ukrainian church and just do things kind of unofficial without a missions agency which kind of makes more sense as Ukraine isn't really foreign to me and felt like home although I was born and raised in the US.
I really don't want to put too many requirements on what I am looking for in a girl. I'm 37, never married. I have always wanted a committed marriage minded relstionship so I haven't really dated much either. I just want soneone who really understands me and loves me and just wants to "do life" together whatever that means for us. I like dry humor, but I really don't want a snarky, sarcastic or antagonistic relationship. I want someone who trusts me and we can completely let our guards down and we don't have to stick up for ourselves in our marriage. I want a best friend and companion. My leadership style is to discuss things and nake mutual decisions because I value her opinion and not because I am weak or couldn't decide by myself, but find her to be somekne insightful and useful rather than a burden I am responsible for. On a more practical note, I guess I am not really into tattoos or a bunch of piercings. I love animals. I have always wanted kids. It's ok if we can't have kids, but if you don't want kids then it probably wouldn't work out. If we can't have kids for some reason there is still adoption.
Not interested in anyone who has been divorced, single mother, etc. You may be a wonderful sister in Christ, but I think it is fair to want a woman who has never been married and has no kids like me.
I an reluctant to put a strict age, but I guess I am traditional in preferring a woman younger than me. I guess more than 10 years younger than me seems a little questionable so my preferred age range is 27-37.
If I wasn't open to a long range relationship then I probably wouldn't be here. However, I really don't want to relocate. I was born and raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia and feel a deep connection here. Eventually, when I retire, I hope to move to Ukraine nine months out of the year and spend Winter back in Virginia Beach. Live a simple life and do a lot of gardening and homestead sort of stuff. Nothing off grid, but focus on writing Christian apologetics articles, maintain a database and track trends in Christianity, while growing a good portion of my iwn produce and baking my own bread and volunteering and ministering. Librarians aren't usually wealthy, but we could supoort a family and have an enjoyable life. If you don't mind living in Virginia Beach and visiting Ukraine for a couple weeks each year to vacation and volunteer over the next 20 years or so and then move to Ukraine most of the year and spend winters in Virginia Beach then it may work out.

2025.01.24 05:40 Andetag Thoughts on revisiting SA1 as an adult
I remember buying this game for $10 at Toy Store back in 2002. That was a lot of money for a 10-year-old back then. I felt embarrassed because my older brother (unapproachable) could've burned it for me and the DC was a moribund embarrassment at the time, at least compared to Xbox with Halo as its launch title. The cashier girl, a little older than me, might've laughed at me for buying it. I think that had as much to do with the oddball rep of the DC as my nervousness while buying it. I don't know how much the game goes for today.
Revisiting it as an adult with the DC mods on Steam, yeah, the gameplay is as boring as detractors say. But the levels are INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL I mean, holy CRAP. I found myself idling around the levels, not "going fast" whatsoever just using the camera to pan everywhere. Just taking it all in. The colors are rich, deep, and bold. Blues bluer than any sky, an almost azure quality. I think about games now, even stuff like Nintendo (whose entire brand is masterful childlike wonder) and the games look so dull for the sake of harsh lighting and photorealism. But that also includes the dreadful-looking Sonic Frontiers and the Shadow followup. That's why I probably wouldn't buy something like the HotD 2 remake, it just doesn't look good visually. There's no "aesthetic."
Obviously SA1 had one of the best OSTs of any game or movie but no one was denying that. I've never played Sonic R, CD, or Rush which seem to be the more favored OSTs nowadays. But SA1 ties with SA2 OST IMO.
I'm fixed by Station Square in its day, night, and golden hour settings, Mystic Ruins, Knuckles's mountain, Twilight Park with the glowing ring arches on the racetrack, the jail cells in red Mountain with the boom bap, the "I Will Survive" level at dawn. I'm just somewhat in awe of how beautiful these levels are notwithstanding the boredom of actually playing them and the JPEG quality sky backdrops for some. Other games from this era that have the same aesthetic are Shenmue I & II, Virtual On Cyber Troopers, SoulCalibur, Skies of Arcadia, DoA 2, Crazy Taxi 1 & 2, PSO, maybe House of the Dead 2.

Jeremiah “Jem” Voss wasn’t always a man of God. Before the collar, he’d been a welder in Biloxi, Mississippi, with a taste for bourbon and bar fights that left his knuckles a roadmap of scar tissue.
Salvation hit him at 42, not in a church, but in the gutters outside a Buc-ee’s after a three-day bender.
A vision, he claimed—a burning gator, its jaws unhinged like the gates of Hell, his dead ex-wife’s voice rasping “Ain’t no rest for the wicked, Jem.” The congregation ate it up.
By 2023, he’d built the New Lazarus Ministry from a double-wide trailer into a 500-strong flock, their coffers fat with donations from retirees and oil-rig roughnecks who liked their scripture served with a side of fire.
But Voss hungered for more than tithes. John Chau’s 2018 martyrdom on North Sentinel Island had gnawed at him—“A modern-day Saint Paul,” he’d sermonized, fist hammering the pulpit. “But the Devil stole his victory!”
His plan took shape: a pilgrimage to finish Chau’s work, armed with Bibles, fishhooks, and a GoPro duct-taped to a selfie stick. “We’ll love ’em to Jesus,” he vowed.
The team was a Dixie fever dream:
They prepped like it was a tailgate. Bubba welded rebar spikes onto their jon boat, “In case them cannibals try boardin’.”
Becca packed dollar-store beads and a Felix the Cat plushie (“Kids love Felix!”).
Tyrell livestreamed the whole mess—“Y’all best smash *like if y’want me to yeet a Bible at a savage!”*
Voss’s pièce de résistance? A Bluetooth speaker rigged to blast “Amazing Grace” in Sentinelese.
Never mind that no one’d recorded the language; he’d used an AI app that promised “Tamil-ish vibes.”
The Andaman Sea wasn’t kind. Their rented trawler, M/V Blessed Assurance, chugged through monsoons that left them retching over the rails.
By day four, the engine coughed black smoke. “Ain’t a problem,” the Sri Lankan captain lied, eyeing Voss’s envelope of crumpled Benjamins. “We reach.”
North Sentinel emerged at dawn—a brooding emerald fang ringed by razor coral.
The captain killed the engine three klicks out. “No closer. Last Germans who tried, Sentinelese left their skulls on sticks.”
Voss pressed a Glock 19 into the man’s ribs. “Psalm 144:1—‘Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war.’ Now move.”
They anchored in the shallows, Tyrell hip-deep in surf, waving his Felix doll. “C’mon, lil’ buddies! We got Swishers n’ Slim Jims!” The jungle stirred.
Sentinelese warriors materialized like shadows—ochre-streaked torsos, bows carved from ironwood.
One, taller, his hair matted with lime, barked a guttural phrase: “Öhö-tä! Köléé-nga!” (Literal translation unknown; linguists posit “Leave or die.” Chau heard similar.)
Voss raised his hands, Jesus-on-the-cross style. “We’re friends! We bring gifts!” Becca lobbed a Ziploc of gummy worms. It arced, smacking the tall warrior’s chest.
Silence.
Then laughter—sharp, mocking. The warrior snapped the bag open, sniffed, and hurled it into the surf. Bubba muttered, “Shoulda brought Marlboros.”
The Sentinelese watched, arrows nocked.
Tyrell’s GoPro caught the first shot: a fiberglass shaft through Bubba’s trachea.
He gagged, pawing at the fletching, before a second arrow pinned his hand to his neck. “Medic!” he rasped—then a third arrow between the eyes.
Chaos. Becca screamed, fumbling a tourniquet. Tyrell unloaded his .22 wild-west style, spent casings plinking into the water. “Eat lead, ya inbred f—” A stone-tipped arrow speared his bicep, spinning him.
The next one took him mid-fall, punching through his ACU vest into the lung. He drowned face-down in six inches of surf, the Felix doll bobbing beside him.
Voss scrambled for the boat, the Bluetooth speaker still warbling “Amazing Grace.” A javelin caught his calf, mangling the tibia. He crawled, howling Psalms, as warriors closed in.
Becca made it farthest—50 meters up the beach, her ponytail snagged by a child’s snare. The Sentinelese teen who slit her throat couldn’t have been older than 14. Her last words: “Y’all… need… Jesus…”
“FAKE!” “Deepfake Pentecostal prank!”
“Where’s the merch drop??”
The Indian Coast Guard found the Blessed Assurance adrift, Voss’s GoPro intact. The final clip: him propped against a palm, pistol empty, chanting “Blood of the Lamb…” as warriors debated his skull’s use as a soup bowl.
Prime Minister Modi’s office issued a statement: “Regrettable incident. The Sentinelese remain protected. Do not approach.”
In Biloxi, the New Lazarus Ministry rebranded as a craft brewery. Their flagship IPA: Holy Ghost Fire.
