Being on Poseidons side when it comes to the Odyssey.
Mad at Odyseus for killing the cyclops (and for not making the sacrifice), mad at Hercules for killing the Hydra and Medusa. Even mad at Archilles for killing Agamemnon.
I got really angry at my friend for calling Cyclops ugly.
The last one because I was the Eos in my family. You know, that part is strange as Selene and Eos were rumoured to have been fathered by Pallas. I just keep seeing myself written into the stories. Too many associations.
You know, I don't seem to be allowed to be angry at the very real people who have hurt me. So fuck it, I'm going to take my anger out on Hercules.
I'm building a special 13 star wheel, Pairing up the alphabet. I'm adding Punyin to it now, halfway through. I figured with 26 letters I can use keyboards as a map. Making a kind of codex.
The lengths I go to to keep my mind off trauma.
I'm no billionaire, can't create villains to fight like Batman.
But it's just unending pandoran madness

Just as the title says. My ex and I were having issues, just him accusing me of cheating on him. I have tired every single thing to reassure him, but when I ask him about why he thinks that. He comes up with the most basic answer! “You are lying about were you are at.” “I just don’t believe anything you say.” I tell him it hurts and he rather turn over and not address it. Given UI's new direction with having Zone-based Firewalls, what is the preferred way of standing up a web server on the network that will need to be accessible from the internet via port 443? - Setting up the server as part of one of the internal servers and configuring NAT or Port Forwarding to route web traffic to it, or... - Setting up the server as part of the DMZ zone, then go about setting up firewall rules within the UI interface so the DMZ can communicate with internal servers when needed
What I mean by the 2nd bullet is our web servers are all AD-joined, so setting up firewall rules isn't exactly a straightforward process. We could change our policies to allow edge web servers to not have to be AD-joined, but then that opens up a whole host of other issues, like how to push updates to it/etc since things like GP will no longer be an option. This is at fairly large scale in some cases, so finding ans implementing an alternative solution starts to get very pricey and time consuming.
In theory, the vast majority of the sites in question use Azure App Proxy for extra security but we have many legacy apps where that's not a a possibility. So, the question is, what's the preferred way of doing things in Unifi-land? Architecturally, DMZ makes more sense, but it would be very expensive and time-consuming to implement. Port Forwarding/NAT is of course much simpler to implement, but doesn't follow the proper architecture.

I have a slow oil leak somewhere on the bike and as a result there is oil all over the place on the engine or leaking down on to the exhaust and the chain and then it gets thrown everywhere. What's the best way to clean the oil off the bike in places I can't reach with my fingers/hands? Something that won't eat away at the seals.
Emphasis on the fact that I can't actually reach it with my hands. I was hoping to be able to just run the hot water through my pressure washer, but not sure if I can add something else to help remove the oil.

Long story short been in the industry, specifically cyber, for 7 years. My last role was an enterprise role.
My biggest takeaway is there are three factors in order to pick a winner for any tech sales job.
- Total Addressable Market
- Product Market Fit
- Timing
2023 unemployment skyrocketed and put a lot of great sellers in free agency, including myself
Had interviews that didn’t pan out and had a few offers too. I couldn’t find an opportunity that felt somewhat stable or checked the box with those three factors.
Decided to start my own insurance business and believe it or not had one of my top earnings year.
Fast forward to now, the carrier I sell slashed commissions, removed bonuses, and increased rate. Running the numbers, the path to scale seems unattainable.
So here I am thinking about jumping back into tech sales. I will say it seems that the market has stabilized. Too soon to call whether tech as a whole is trending up. But the harsh reality is gone are the days of IPOs. Money is no longer cheap to raise and VCs are only rewarding companies with rounds of funding with proven plans to profitability. My other observation is I thought everyone would have found a home by now but the market is still extremely competitive. I had an interview for a series C company where the recruiter told me he likes my experience, I check the boxes, yet I am supposedly one of 1000 applicants for this mid market role….
I have some friends that are crushing it while majority are searching or are hanging on to dear life to keep their job. Leaders are going back to IC roles. I am even seeing AE’s take SDR roles…. It is crazy.
I envision picking the right company and am trying to convince myself that everything will work out. Yet there is a part of me that knows that if I reenter there is a high probability that I need to buckle up because here comes the revolving door of a new job every 2 years.
I feel crazy for even considering jumping back into tech but my hand is forced given my earnings ability was undermined. I have made a good living in tech prior but weighing out whether the BS that comes with the job is worth the money.
This turned out to be a long rant haha. Maybe some of these points resonate, maybe not. Curious what other people are thinking? What is everyone’s outlook for 2025?

2025.01.24 06:02 Splatulated my pc is cooking me and idk what to do
every time i run HWI info it says my cpu is under 60c and gpu is under 80c with the hotspot sometimes saying 90 but usually its 88 (when under load and im playing marvel rivals)
i have a evga rtx 3080 ftw3 model and dual fan noctua nh-d15 cpu cooler for my i7 11700k. its in a Meshify 2 case (full tower) and i have 8 case fans, 3 top 3 front 1 bottom and the exhaust fan
i don't want to try water cooling because i am just too paranoid that it will leak and cause things to break, im on limited income so replacing it would be rather difficult/impossible if everything were to break at the same time
so right now since its winter ( in canada) i can open my window for 30 minutes - an hour and that will cool my room down very quickly
but i worry that in summer that wont really be an option (i dont pay the air conditioning bill so people wont be happy if i left a window open while theyre trying to cool the rest of the house)
i also cant leave my bedroom door open because i live with family that has a lot of small children and one has a constant habit of leaving mashmallows and popsicles to melt into the furniture which id rather not have in my room
i dont even know if this is a good sub to ask for this kinda help
