I have 2 credit cards: a cashback zero-fee one with a $500 limit (7 years old), and an Aeroplan one (fee waived) with a $3,000 limit (1 year old).
I'm currently unemployed but am still a student in their system (apparently).
Should I cancel the oldest one and transfer the $500 limit to my Aeroplan card or will that severely hurt my credit?

2025.01.24 08:40 barelinkage Need help creating a DLL. Very new to this.
I am currently working on a python app that uses opencv-python and consequently ffmpeg. When I try to save a file using HEVC, this isnt supported by the ffmpeg dll that opencv-python installs by default. I could not find a prebuilt dll to download, so I want to build my own dll. But I struggled to do so using the tool https://github.com/m-ab-s/media-autobuild\_suite. I found that I did not end up with a dll even when doing a "shared" build. Am I on the right track here?

I got married to my girlfriend 2 years back. I belong to a family which is pretty conservative but fortunately past 5 marriages of my cousins were love marriage so that kind of made it easy for me. My parents seemed to be happy at first. But fast forward i hate the kind of situation i am. My mom who used to call me everyday till the point I told her about my girlfriend stopped calling Me. My dad told me that she's just upset so why don't you call her everyday. So I did that I used to call her every other day atleast and literally beg her to call me atleast once by mistake. She never listened. But I kept calling her every few days atleast.
It was our marriage anniversary last Saturday and while my in laws were all happy and called us the first thing in the morning to wish us, sent us some money to get some gifts of choice etc. My mom dropped a WhatsApp text wishing only me and not my wife and that's it. My dad realised he didn't wish so he called both of us in the evening to wish us and I was super happy. So I let it slide but I couldn't keep it in me, so yesterday I called my mom to ask why.. if she couldn't call me everyday that's fine but why couldn't she even call me on my anniversary, not wishing my wife is secondary but she couldn't even wish her own son! She says I am not happy with you two so I don't like your marriage. She goes onto say if it was your birthday I would have wished you but it's your marriage anniversary that's why I didn't call you. It hurts alright and I can't tell my wife she said that because the day I do is the day that relationship ends permanently. So I lied to her that I was crying because my mom's angry we didn't go home for Sankranti.
I mean I agree this was not the kind of marriage she wanted. But that doesn't mean she hates me so bad! It hasn't been Unicorns and rainbows for past 2 years but it also hasn't been really bad either. I'd say it was a just pass in an exam kind of scenario. What does my mom want? She wants me to divorce now? Am I such a bad person that I married someone they didn't want? Man, we didn't runaway and elope like others. We got married respectfully with their permission so why so much hatred.

... is seriously a joke. example only: i'm somewhat considering a cx-5 so watched some videos/read some reviews. some examples, from reviewers reviewing the exact same model:
- "the seating height is very low, typical mazda style" whereas another journo said "the seating height is too high within the car to be comfortable".
- "the engine sounds great when revved! makes driving enjoyable" and another said "sounds horrible when you revv it, it really doesn't like being poked".
- "despite a family of 3 small kids living in this car, and this car being years old, the piano black trim has not been scratched at all. its the most durable piano black trim ive ever seen in a car. well done mazda". vs another journo "the piano black trim scratches as soon as you even clean it, even in this near new demo car"
- the old "they claim 7 L/100km fuel efficiency, but on my test drive i only got 9 L/100km so i'm not sure 7 is believable" ... like WTF? do they even understand the point of the standardised test?
- "this car has less inside room than other SUV's like the mitsubishi outlander.... so inside space is not a strong point for the CX5" .... no shit, its almost like there are different sized cars based on differen't peoples wants and needs.
- "the gearbox is ok, but not as good as a more modern, snappy-shifting DCT" vs "thank god its got a conventional epicyclic gearbox, not some horrible DCT or CVT"
- "the diesel is the best engine, its so quiet, powerful and efficient and one of the absolute best diesel engines used in any passenger car in history" vs the "diesel is just garbage, not only is it unreliable its noisy, smelly, underpowered and unrefined stay away and dodge that bullet"
- one journo gave huge criticism for the current gen mazda 3 having the weirdly zoomed side mirror, listing it as one of the main dot-point negatives for that car. the cx5 uses the same weird-perspective mirror, and this same journo didnt mention it once when reviewing the cx5.
- pretty sure one journo is actually trying to sell durometers, not cars.
