I recently moved 700 miles away after accepting a position within the same company. On my 2nd day on the job, not even 2 weeks after my move (that we paid out of pocket for), we were told the location is closing and we would not be relocated to the 2nd store in the area and IF a position opens up in the area, we need to reapply and it isn’t guaranteed we have any employment. Is this legal? Why hire someone brand new, who you knew was uprooting their entire life, when the store was set to close. That is not an overnight decision. Now we’re out 3K from a move, lost our apartment, wife left an incredible career to start over, and have no money to move back home. Is this even legal? Seems awfully shady.

After watching Andrew Ng arguing about AI safety, I realized there seemed to be a real disconnect surrounding AI consciousness and AI safety. There is a set of safety rules that can keep a powerful AI from using all available resources on Earth to make more paperclips after a poorly worded command. There would be another set of safety rules needed to keep sentient AI from causing great harm, like leaders with no technical background using captured Nazi scientists and engineers who hate you to create weapons of mass destruction. These workers seem polite, but can never be trusted. Many AI researchers seem to treat the possibility of sentience the way an agnostic treats a believer in God in the 21st century, that the question was long settled by Darwin and there is no way to convince the willfully ignorant. Is there a good Turing test for consciousness? Do AI researchers take it seriously, or is it a topic for tenured philosophy professors?

Hey folks,
Does somebody know if there is a way to customize the taskbar layout using specific icons and get triggered only once so that end users are free to customize afterwards ?
I tried to apply this XML layout during SCCM deployment >> C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml
It works fine, but if the user spends a lot of time during the initial Windows Hello login, for whatever reason does not get applied at all...
Is there a way to force over intune to be applied just once ?

Hello,
I'm a big fan of Lords of the Fallen 2023's setting. I also really loved the Dark Souls games, DS3 especially. I've also played Lies of P and Thymesia, enjoyed both quite a bit.
Elden Ring's open world areas are a bit too lively for my taste so I'm looking for other games that have the same vibe as Lords of the Fallen. You know, dark in tone, somewhat depressing and with rewarding exploration.
The only other games I see are the Blasphemous games and The Last Faith.
Is there anything that really captures the same vibe ?

I'm seeing a lot of definitions ranging from "terminal instrument procedures" to cannabis aroma compounds to turpentine.
I'm assuming the latter is how the term "terps" is used when cleaning a chain, but I want to check to make sure there isn't some other "terps" solvent that I should be aware of.
