2025.01.24 19:51 whte-rbt Red Wing Sizing – How Can These Boots Be Too Narrow?
Guys, I admit that I ran out of ideas. I've asked here about the right sizing for my Red Wing Blacksmith – and as I want to add one more pair each year to my collection, it's now time to verify the sizing.
In general, I think I made the right decision between 10.5 and 11, as described in the other thread. But I have the bad feeling that the boots are still a bit too narrow. Let be honest with you, I have no problems and no pain wearing them. It is just a cosmetic issue, they just look a bit too narrow in some spots of the boot, where my foot is hanging on the welt. Maybe this is a normal look for snug Red Wing heritage boots, I don't know – as I have seen a lot of pictures like that in this sub.
I really ask myself: What did I wrong? How can this boot be to small? I am a 12 C, my right foot has a tendency to 12 D, on the Barrock. I also verified the measurements with the Nicks Sizing Guide. The space between the laces seem right, I have enough room in front of my toes.
If you now tell me, that these boots are too small, what should be my strategy? Go with 11.5 D oder with 11 EE, if I am able to get them here in Germany? Sadly, there is no way to get every boot in wider sizes here in Europe. I want to add the Iron Ranger Copper Rough & Tough to my collection, if this information matters.
I will add pictures to this post. I am not a fan of sweaty insole pictures and I am sorry of that, but if it helps…
I really appreciate your help and maybe nail the sizing 100 % the next time…

2025.01.24 19:51 ryethelion34 Help me decide a future graphics card for 2025 and the future
Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a rut as to which card I should go with. I currently have an RX 6900XT, and it's been treating me great, but I've noticed that its RT performance is starting to show its age in newer titles. Since I will have new games like KCD2, Civ7, and probably more games to come in the future that may or may not have RT required in the game (like the Witcher 4), I'm wondering what would be the best choice. I currently game on a dual monitor 1440p 144hz setup. I'd like to think that I can go without ray tracing, but I am also thinking of the future, in which newer games will most likely have RT required. Originally I was mildly interested in a 5070ti/5080, but after the release of the 5090 reviews, I am very skeptical. So I'll put some options down in the poll to see what would be the best decision.
First I could keep the card, obviously, but I feel that it'll start to struggle in the future as, for example, I was playing The Witcher 3 with RT on and FMF2, and still only getting like 70–80 fps (without FMF2 it's like 30-40).
Second, I was looking at buying a 7900XTX, since it looks like the RT performance is substantially better. I could consider trading in my current one, but the specific card I had my eye on was the Sapphire NITRO+. And if the 7000 series gets access to FSR 4, I feel that RT will be pretty decent for the years to come.
Third, I could wait until the 9070 XT. I'm not in a huge rush to get a new card, but as far as I'm seeing on the internet, the 9070XT will not come until at least late March, and has expected RT performance of a 4070 Ti. And as far as I could see, the 7900XTX has RT performance of a 3090/3090 Ti, but in games like Cyberpunk it can still struggle. I would expect that the 7900XTX would have more power in rasterization, but I remain unsure of how much more the RT uplift will be with the 9070 XT. And yes, I know the card isn't out yet, but I'm sure that we have estimates and leaks that can put me in a ballpark to figure this out.
Fourth, I'm looking at trying to get a 5080 on release. If I can get it for $999 or somewhere close to that is the only acceptable choice imo. I know we don't have specs on 5070ti/5070, but it feels like the trend is that those cards will not have enough horsepower to be competitive to the other cards I mentioned, except the 9070 XT (without DLSS and FG).

I think we need someone who can defend further up the field & can make something happen when he wins the ball, depending on the game he can make it a midfield 3 or he can sit further up the field if we’re dominating the ball.
