My most recent ex broke up with me right before my birthday party. Everything seemed to be going great with her up until the week of Christmas.Long story short.
Here are the things that she got very upset about which led to being discarded
.-Me going home to sleep before work the next morning at 10 PM after spending the whole day for her family christmas and whole weekend for that matter as she said I was "leaving her"
-Me going home after her 2nd family Christmas at 1 AM as I had my own family Christmas the next morning at 830. In her mind, I'm her bf and should be spending the night with her more often, even though I was 1-2 times a week. She also said that if I'm at her house, it's expected that I stay the night.
-She got mad that my brother wouldn't have her at our family Christmas that he hosted because she invited me to both of her family Christmases despite inviting her to come over the day after. She took it as my family not wanting to meet her which was clearly not the case. Keep in mind, they never met her and we only dated for a few months.
-She got mad that we aren't having sex more despite not saying anything. I told her that she needs to communicate that more if she wants that and she said, no it should just happen without me saying anything. And that if we had a better connection, I would know how to please her better without her having to tell me. Yeah....no. I'm not a mind reader
.-Apparently I failed her test the last time we hung out after she needed space over trivial things mention above, (like leaving to go home, family christmases, and not reading her mind when it came to sex). But apparently I was supposed to initiate sex while she said nothing and gave no signals whatsoever. Nor was there much time because we got dinner and saw a movie and got back late and I fell asleep shortly afterwards as I had work the next morning.
-She was acting hot and cold the week of my birthday and gave short replies and barely initiated text except a happy birthday text the day of my birthday. She even rsvp'd to my bday event on facebook and said she was gonna take me out for my birthday dinner. When I asked her if she was still on for dinner, she said hey I havent heard from you since yesterday, despite me sending the last text and her leaving me on read. She said that she can't do this anymore as a relationship without communication isn't healthy despite her giving me breadcrumbs and low effort. That's straight up manipulation and condescending.
Overall, I know I dodged a bullet but it still hurts that someone who I thought cared about me would discard me that easily. The fact that she went from saying she loved me daily and wanted to do all these things in the future like travel, go to comedy shows, etc would pull a 180 that soon over me setting boundaries and poor communication, which I wanted to improve. But the lesson here is that if somebody doesn't respect your boundaries, they do NOT respect you. I thought she was a little clingy in the beginning. But once the clinginess stops, it is HELL.

Moved to a new town where the dog park is not separated by small dogs and little dogs. I take my little six pound chorkie, Louie, after a week of being cooped up in doors because it's 15 degrees and below out. There are two rather large dogs running around when we get there. Louie and these two make fast friends sniffing each other and chasing each other around.
Then it happened.
One of these two dogs runs at me full speed and hits me in the knee.
I fall to the ground. I begin to cry in pain.
It was an accident, I do not blame the dog nor the owners. The dog just got over stimulated after a week of being cooped up inside due to horrible whether conditions.
Louie was not as forgiving.
The chihuahua demon he inherited from his father was unleashed, growling, yapping, snapping at this dog six times his size.
And this poor 90 pound dog, faced with this firey ball of five pounds dog and one pound fluff, backs away with his tail between his legs.
They were promptly separated.

I am going on my third cruise sailing from Long Beach. Has anyone used the Amazon Lockers at the long beach terminal? And what was your experience?
We are flying to Long Beach from Missouri so we are limited to what we can bring on a 7 day cruise.
Also, I know you are allowed to bring a 12 pack of soda and a bottle of wine. Do they need to be physically in your carry on, or how does that work?

2025.01.24 21:00 WickedWitchOfRemnant Neighbor Losing Cats And Keeping Them Outside For Hours Unsupervised
So I have this neighbor who's been around for around three years. Last year around summer she got a black and white cat we'll call Buttons. Buttons was outside when she and her kids weren't home. The woman co parented with her ex so sometimes we didn't see the kids. And the neighbor worked a 10 hour nurse shift. We're on a street connected to main street, so our road can get very busy. But she kept Buttons outside and it could wander around for hours. She would only let it inside once it got dark. Buttons had no collar, no tag and as we later found out had no chip. You can probably tell where this is going.
On Halloween, trick or treat night, my neighbor thought it would be a good idea to let Buttons continue to roam around. I was out of town celebrating Halloween with family. The next day I came back home my neighbor posted on FB about Buttons being missing. She said along the lines 'Buttons always comes home' and is asking for people to find him. People in the comments Buttons snuck out and ran but neighbor lady claimed she left them out for five minutes and Buttons was gone. My cameras saw Buttons on the porch for thirty minutes before wandering out of sight. And as of 2025 Buttons still hasn't been found. Not surprising when we live on a busy street, it was trick or treat night, there were fireworks and loud horns going off. Anything could have happened to Buttons. I feel so sorry for the poor cat and just hope he's with a better family. I would rather it be that than the possibility of Buttons getting run over or attacked by a dog.
However, a month after Buttons went missing she got another cat we will call Storm. Storm is a gray cat and you would think after Buttons she would take more precautions. Wrong. Storm also had no collar, tag or chip. And would be left out for hours outside. Storm didn't wander as much as Buttons did but if Storm got spooked by something he would run off. Storm really seemed like a cat who wanted to be a house cat but the neighbor only let him inside at night and then kick him out when it's time to leave. He was friendly with other people. I occasionally fed Storm but my neighbor glares at me and mentions to the other neighbors 'I'll probably steal her cat'. I'm a black woman, the last thing I need is being accused of something I didn't even do. Especially with how awful our police department is. Also I can't take the cat, my wife has an allergy to cats. My neighbors though didn't listen to her and supported me. Helps when you've known them for years.
Then a week ago Storm went missing. It's cold here and a winter storm hit so it probably went to go find some heat and food since she left it outside again. Our neighbor posted another sob story about her cat going missing. She didn't accuse me, thankfully. I later spoke to one of the other neighbors. They used a trap on Storm and brought him to a friend's farm where's there's heat, protection and food. They didn't do it with Buttons. They were thinking about it but he thought it would be wrong morally. But seeing how friendly Storm was and he was being left out when it wanted to be let in broke my neighbor's heart. Especially when we got some bad snow. I haven't told anyone else besides my wife and I don't plan to. How are you gonna claim you love your cat but then not even have a collar or micro chip for them? I doubt she can produce medical records showing the cats even saw the vet. Especially since you replaced Buttons after a month. Our neighborhood has had dog attacks before and reckless driving. So not even contributing the bad weather or who could have stolen it, it was reckless to leave them out for hours unsupervised.
But yeah, I needed to vent. Wonder if she'll learn her lesson or get another cat in February.

So Ive had my res for a few months now, A girl at work recommended sand for substrate and said turtles love sand. Bought two bags of sand substrate and my turtle hates it. I’m having a hard time removing the sand but I will buy a siphon in hopes of getting the rest out, but I was wondering if substrate is a necessity for res aquariums? I find it very difficult to clean and would prefer gravel however many people have said turtles can choke on tiny rocks so I don’t think gravel is the best option either. Would having no substrate at the bottom work instead?

2025.01.24 21:00 ALTTACK3r England: I've been told I'll have to pay my salary back to leave an apprenticeship?
I've been doing an apprenticeship at a day-care since November, so I'm actually still in the probation period. Because of stress and other reasons I think it's best for me to leave early - but the other staff there told me I may have to pay back all the salary I received, another told me I have to pay £7K (which i do NOT have..)
I tried reading the contract but it's worded super ambiguous and confusingly about this.. I can't decode it for the life of me right now.
But I really don't think it makes sense for me to have to pay back for leaving early, it's not like I received any super special training or anything. Just watching over the kids and cleaning up every time there's a mess (didn't start on nappies lol).
Any help or guidance would be appreciated!!!

As somebody who was born in 2005 and whose first console was the wii, I see people talking about consoles like the ps1, ps2, OG xbox, gamecube, gameboy, etc. I can obviously experience those consoles now, but surely it was different back when they first came out? What was it like? Knowing that nearly every game company was looking to actually make a quality product? Was there any one game company that you hated with a passion and refused to buy from?
