I'm from a foreign country and began working my first job in the United States after obtaining my Employment Authorization Document.
When filling out my Form W-4, I should NOT claim an exemption to federal tax withholding, right?
What confused me was that the instructions state: "You may claim exemption from withholding for 2025 if you meet both of the following conditions: you had no federal income tax liability in 2024 and you expect to have no federal income tax liability in 2025."
I initially interpreted this to mean that I could claim an exemption because I had no "tax liability" from the previous year (when I wasn't working in the U.S. whatsoever) and I didn't expect to have "tax liability," because I thought "tax liability" was when you ended up still owing the IRS money after it processed your tax return. In other words, I did not expect to have "tax liability" because I thought "tax liability" referred to a scenario in which the IRS deems that you have an outstanding balance owing on top of all the taxes you've paid through deductions from your paycheck throughout the year.
But I was misunderstanding "tax liability," wasn't I? I will have federal income tax liability in 2025 because "tax liability" in this context just means I'll owe the federal government taxes, correct?

2025.01.24 23:11 Double_Description19 Am I over reacting for wanting to cut contact with one of my close friends after he named two female characters in a porn game after my Mother and Sister?
Just before I make this post I want to say that English is not my first language.
One of my close friend's Albert (Who is 18 years old) recently messaged me (16 years old) that he wanted to show me something. Me, Him and some other friend have a discord group together that we regularly talk in and he asked me to join him in said group. I did and what he showed me deeply hurt me.
He said to join his stream and look at what he was playing. I did and at first I just thought he was streaming some porn game he found and didn't think much of it. But then in the corner of my eye I saw one of the female characters name and Alberts characters name, It was my Mom's name as the female character and he used his own name as the main characters name.
I said Wtf and started to get angry at him. I told him to change the names immediately. Then came another female character. She had my Sister's name. At this point I was really pissed of and I started to insult him.
He said that the "others" forced him to name them this and that they would release embarrassing pictures of him if he didn't do it. I started to apologize for getting angry without knowing the full story.
Some time later, David (18 years old) joined. I asked him if he forced Albert to do what he did. David got confused and said "No, I was only in the call when Albert wrote the names" and that he didn't suggest with names or threaten with embarrassing pictures at all. Albert started to swear up and down that they forced him. David also started swearing up and down that it was only Albert that did it.
I excused myself and left the call. I later called up the others and asked for their story. Every single one of them said the same thing which was Albert did the whole thing alone.
I rejoined the call with Albert and David and said to Albert "Dude be honest with me, If you lie we will stop being friends" I asked him again and he said that he was forced to do it. I said "Fuck you dude" and left.
He started to message and call me saying that he was innocent. But later that night he started apologizing for what he did.
The part that get's me mad is not that he named the characters after my Mom and Sister. But that he lied to my face, He swore up and down on everything that he was innocent.
Albert has known me for 3 years and he has met my whole family. He also attended my parent's wedding. To think that he thought of my Mom and Sister in a sexual way fucking disgust me to my core. I later looked up the game and saw that it included "non consensual sexual acts" with the characters that was named after my Mom and Sister.
He later messaged me again saying that "It was just a joke" and that I should "Stop being so sensitive"
Around that time the others started calling me and asked if I was mad at them. I said that I wasn't and that even if they told him to stop he would probably do it anyway.
It is just a game so maybe im overreacting? I need advice on what to do next!

— Roger Pasquese’s daughter in the show is played by Vanessa Marano, who then played Rebecca Mitchell (Trinity Killer’s Daughter in Dexter).
— Shawn Hatosy, who played the Dexter villian Boyd Fowler in S5, made an appearance in an episode in season 1. He plays the boyfriend of the movie star actress who overdoses in the bathroom.
— Scott Buck, who wrote and produced for Six Feet Under, later went on to serve as the main showrunner for Dexter seasons 6-8.
— Julia Stiles, who plays Lumen Pierce in Dexter, makes a cameo appearance in a movie trailer when David, Claire, and her friend go to the movie theatre. David has a panic attack not long after and leaves.
Anyone know why there are so many connections? Or does anyone have any other connections I didn’t mention?
