The other day, I was at a local café I frequent every Saturday morning. It’s my little ritual—coffee, a croissant, and an hour of reading before diving into errands. I was halfway through a chapter of my book when a couple sat at the table next to me. They were loud, laughing and talking over one another, their voices cutting through the quiet hum of the café. I tried to ignore it, but it became impossible to concentrate.
I politely leaned over and said, "Hey, would you mind keeping it down a little? I'm just trying to read." The guy smiled awkwardly, and the woman gave me a quick "Sure, sorry about that."
For about five minutes, they toned it down. But soon, they were back to laughing loudly, even louder than before, as if they were doing it on purpose. At that point, I felt my patience unraveling.
I turned to them again and said, "I'm sorry, but I already asked nicely. Can you either lower your voices or maybe take the conversation outside?"
The woman scoffed and said, "It’s a public space, not a library. Maybe you should take your book somewhere quieter."
That response completely set me off. I stood up, grabbed my coffee, and said, loud enough for others to hear, "It's not about being in public. It's about being considerate. Maybe learn the difference." And then I stormed out of the café, feeling like my Saturday ritual had been ruined.
But now that I’ve had time to think, I wonder if I overreacted. Was it really that serious, or should I have just ignored them and powered through? I don’t know if I was justified in being so upset or if I made a mountain out of a molehill. What do you think?

Hi - If you have a cat who has a SUB can you offer some advice about picking them up safely? Before our cat came home yesterday, the vet advised us to avoid picking him up around the belly but rather to scoop one hand under the chest and the other under the butt. It looked so easy when he was on a table at waist height. But at home when we need to pick him up he's usually on the floor, or under something, or in a box. And he doesn't seem to like it very much. And I'm afraid of hurting him.

2025.01.24 23:20 simplelivingpls How many times did you view your house after offer was accepted by seller? (FTB here)
I feel completely clueless about the process. Found a house that ticks a lot of boxes but only got 2 quick viewings on it. First viewer was over in 10 mins and second viewing had a lot of other families viewing. Didn’t get to see the attic in the 2nd viewing.
We are 20k above asking and nobody has countered now. Vendor has accepted the offer. Have until Monday to decide. If all goes ahead, is it normal to be able to view it once or twice more?
I really want to see what’s going on in the attic and I really want to get a good look at the place and move furniture etc to check for dampness as the foundations don’t have sub-floor ventilation.
