Yesterday, in Reykjavík, Iceland, I had an unusual experience at a gas station early in the morning. The restroom was located toward the back of the station, near a small Boost bar with a few tables. As I walked to the restroom, I noticed someone sitting alone—a man wearing a black jacket with the hood up and long hair. From my angle, I could only see the side profile of his face, which appeared disfigured. It seemed as though he was missing an eye, and there was visible redness or what looked like blood around the eye socket. His appearance was so striking that, for a moment, I thought he resembled a lifeless person.
Not wanting to stare, I assumed this individual might be dealing with a serious condition or might be homeless. I continued to the restroom, but when I walked back, I observed him again. This time, his face was entirely intact—no sign of disfigurement or bleeding—but he remained expressionless. He appeared to be a man in his 50s with long dark blond hair.
The experience left me wondering: could this have been a ghost or a supernatural occurrence?

2025.01.24 23:57 Artanis137 You know it's interesting how often the "Vault Dweller" character origin is used by Bethesda given the franchises history.
No seriously, out of the original 4 games only 1, the first game, has the player being someone who came from a Vault, and yet Bethesda defaults to this origin in every single one of their games and even the TV show has one of their characters be a Vault Dweller. It wasn't a trope or staple of the series until Bethesda made it so.
Here a quick breakdown of the origins:
Fallout 1: Vault Dweller Fallout 2: Tribal Fallout Tactics: Tribal Fallout Brotherhood of Steel: BoS Initiate Fallout 3: Vault Dweller Fallout New Vegas: Courier Fallout 4: Vault Dweller Fallout 76: Vault Dweller
Now excluding Fallout Shelter and Fallout Shelter Online because those are management games and you don't really have a character, you can see the trope of always playing a Vault Dweller only became a thing after Bethesda got the Franchise.
Now to play devils advocate I do understand why they do this. By having the player character originate from a Vault it makes it so they, like a new player, have no knowledge of the outside world and so helping the player feel connected with their character as they too are experiencing something new.
However it has gotten rather boring for me as an origin story for player characters and I would like them to try something new but that's just me.
Have you gotten tired of the Vault Dweller origin or is it just part of the franchises identity now?

I guess it’s been months since I left my relationship and I’m not sure if it’s normal for everyone else but It feels like here and there I remember stuff I didint realize happened. It’s like random epiphanies or memories triggered. Just wanted to rant out some realizations. Not sure if it’s abusive or toxic or not but ranting anyways.
From the beginning he used to compare us as a couple to others even if it didint make sense.
He used to bring up his ex a lot (e.g: I quit smoking for her, random name drops to a point I told him I don’t like it he needs to stop). He would actually constantly compare how much more he loved me compared to his ex, which now in hindsight I feel so weird about.
I would catch up in random lies( example: wasn’t able to get me flowers on vday cause the florist said to get it the day of and they ran out. Saw flowers at a grocery store the very same day and the same ones the next day)
It felt like he conditioned me to be scared of his anger early on. I think back now but the way he would say the conversation is over is how you would talk to a child or a subordinate, not your partner
He would ignore me tell me he’s not sure about us, but then talk in a group chat of my friends basically insinuating I make the decisions. (My friends found it weird)
He got into a physical fight at a wedding but he said he got into a fight for me. I don’t like fighting.
He said I love you really fast and wasn’t happy I wasn’t opening up right away. I had previously been in an abusive relationship and needed time to feel okay again.
As soon as our families agreed to us getting married (cultural) stuff we agreed on beforehand and stuff I discussed that were important to me, he started disagreeing with. Basically had red pill ideology.
He’d find it really funny when girls flirted w him but if a guy hit on me he would be angry.
He said he wasn’t okay with someone telling him to shut up, but he told me to shut up twice.
He would randomly make me feel insecure about girls in his life even his relatives
I guess overall it felt once we were together and engaged stuff slowly started changing, maybe even before that and I didint even notice till now

Hi everyone! I have an issue that needs to be resolved (or not). Long story short, my grandma who’s 73 years old keeps getting in to trouble and my mom are the only two people who care.
Two years ago she was evicted from her home- probably for smoking indoors. Three years prior she was evicted from a home due to not paying rent. Shes been homeless ever since and living in her car that she hasn’t been making payments on in god knows how long. About 5 months ago she was arrested for check fraud and charged with a court date pending. All in all, she’s not making sound decisions and everyone from our hometown is calling, texting to tell us we need to do something for her.
Now, you’ll be wondering why me or my mom haven’t done anything yet. Well, I am in no position to do so and my mom had an abusive relationship with her growing up. They were never really close, my grandma burned that bridge a long time ago. She also burned that bridge with me a few years ago by threatening to call the cops on me for transporting her car after she had surgery (she told me to do that).
ANYWAYS, everyone we’ve called has deemed my grandma competent and mentally aware so PA is out of the question. I have spent a very large portion of my life helping this woman and have built some resentment towards her due to my life being held back because of her. I know in my heart she just does things because she’s entitled but I don’t want her to die on the streets. Neither me nor my mom have the funds to place her somewhere. I don’t know what to do or if I should do anything.
Any advice is appreciated
