 | I have a headtracker that provides yaw, pitch, roll data over bluetooth. I use an esp32c3 or esp32s3 supermini to subscribe to this data and output a PPM signal. The PPM signal is plugged into my transmitter (Radiomaster Zorro) via the trainer port. Problem: When bluetooth is active the received values jitter by maybe 4-8us. If bluetooth is off and I just generate a mock PPM signal for testing, the jitter is max 1 us. It is maybe slightly better on the -I have tried running the PPM generation pinned to core 1 as I understand bluetooth is on core0. -I have tried bumping up the priority, but too high seems to make the thing resart. -I have tried being very careful and guarding all read/writes to the yaw/pitch/roll values with a boolean flag. But I can’t trigger any collisions. - my oscillosvope is one of those crappy diy kits so I can’t spot anything obvious on there. - if I run the PPM from the headtracker directly to the transmitter (Zorro) via a cable I don’t get the jitter. I don’t have access to the code at the moment but the PPM generation is currently based on the following code (I updated to the latest api): https://github.com/ps-after-hours/esp32_ppm_output/blob/main/esp32_ppm_output.ino That’s like only 10 or so interrupts every 22.5ms. Seems lightweight? Am I wrong? Is it reasonable that bluetooth interferes with this signal generation? Or is it more likely jitter caused at the headtracker? Well, here's my anecdote. I recently visited a friend of mine who lives in another part of the country. He booked us in for dance classes but I had to tell him that it ain't gonna work. But I said I can go along and sit on the bench. So that's what we did. Until after 30 min of watching everyone else having fun (and being not a bad dancer myself) decided I'd hit the floor.
After 5 min I was back on the bench feeling like I had an awful flu. Everyone was asking me up to dance. I couldn't tell them I have chronic fatigue becacuse nobody knew what it was like. So I just gave everyone the "bad back excuse" I barely made it back to his house (and he was driving!).
We bought a curry and chips because I felt it might be good to eat a little before going to bed. After eating the curry and having a conversation I felt fine again. Actually felt quite good. What an odd condition!
