After perusing this sub I’m starting to wonder if histamine intolerance may be my issue, or part of it. My main symptoms started at extreme chronic fatigue and overall body soreness. Since then I’ve progressed to having extremely sensitive and dry skin on my face. A rash that seems to appear at random on my hips, knees, elbows. The feeling of a constantly stuffed nose and post nasal drip. Very Painful stomach cramps and bloating and fluctuating between constipation and urgency. I also suffer from mental health issues. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after labs came back normal but this never really sat right with me. Is histamine intolerance something doctors can or will test for? What tests should I request? What else would be a good starting place for me to confirm if this is my issue? Ive been struggling for nearly twenty years and have almost given up.

I’m 26M and am just about to finish a master’s degree in finance at a pretty good school. I took a circuitous route to get here - I finished undergrad in 2020, got a job covering news at a major network only to find out my dream job was terrible and going to kill me sooner rather than later, so I left reporting and took the first high paying job I could get - as a tech recruiter. I did really well, got a really cool job at a startup, helped build the company from the ground up and got exposed to all kinds of legal/compliance topics. The startup worked on models and model monitoring for financial systems, so I got to do a ton of fraud and machine learning work that really made me want to go down a compliance route. I got laid off before my grad program started, and I took another job doing recruiting (nominally) but really helping build out a massive sales organization and all the compliance/support that went along with that. Now that I’ve done my master’s, I realize I want to fully pivot into AML/sanctions/compliance type work, and I have a strong academic background in it from my graduate work and relevant certifications. But when I’m looking at roles, I’m wondering if I can paint the tech work as being relevant especially as I had VERY broad responsibilities at both companies I worked at. I really don’t want to be accused of lying or have a problem on my background checks, but I also don’t want to not be able to get good roles out of my program. What should I do?

Ethanol has a much lower freezing point then water, a mixture of water and ethanol also has a lower freezing point. So if ethanol is placed on ice even as it becomes diluted with water it will still keep melting the ice so long as its above the freezing point of the mixture.
Various salts, and or a brine mixture is often used currently for de-icing jobs but this has negative effects on the environment, nearby soil, and water supplies.
A cheap mass produced ethanol solution would be better for the environment and very economical as usually most the cost of ethanol is from taxes, branding, marketing etc from liquor companies. Since this is a de-icer and not for people to drink it shouldn't be taxed, and could be made for just a few dollars a gallon.

Hello fellow travelers,
On Wednesday I was traveling from Isabela to SJU to fly home after a wonderful vacation. We briefly stopped at Mar Chiquita in Manati on our way. As I arrived at the airport I realized I must have left my backpack on the beach. I unfortunately did not have enough time to return to the beach before departure.
Luckily I had most of my belongings. Unluckily; my keys to my car parked at PVD airport were in said bag. Fortunately I had a spare at home and was able to retrieve my car.
Is anyone on this sub planning a visit to Mar Chiquita or Manati in the near future? The beach seemed quiet on Wednesday but not sure if it gets busier on weekends. I would gladly compensate anyone who finds my bag and can help reunite it with me in Massachusetts. I know this is a long shot.
I believe my bag was left leaning against a palm tree, directly in front of the Pina colada vendor, about halfway between the vendor and the water.

2025.01.25 00:21 friendinlaw The Serpent King of Enir Ilim
In Elden Ring, there are so many lore deadends regarding snakes.
Where are the snakes in the Crucible Kingdom? Given what’s written on the Duelist Helm, we know snakes were a hated symbol in the Erdtree Empire, but we’re never told why. The origin of Messmer’s curse of snakes and fire are also never elaborated on. Even the origin of Rykard’s God-Devouring Serpent are never explained beyond “an ancient forgotten religion on Mt. Gelmir.”
After spending a silly amount of time thinking about this, my theory is that Enir Ilim and maybe even all of the Crucible Kingdom was ruled over by a Serpent King, one who was striving to become a god only to be betrayed by Marika at the last second. I believe this is the original sin referenced in Messmer’s remembrance.
Here's what led me to this conclusion.
The Serpent was a major figure in Enir Ilim
There are only a couple locations where large snake skin is found and one of them is near Bonny Village.. This skin is the same as the one found in Volcano Manor.
This implies that the Snake was involved in or overseeing the creation of Living Jars.

I speculate that the purpose of these jars are connected to the numerous corpses seen making up the Gate of Divinity and Enir Ilim itself, or at least to some function in Enir Ilim given the location Belurat Gaol further connecting this serpent to Enir Ilim.
In addition, there are several statues of Enir Ilim that depict some kind of great serpent or worm.
I think it’s a symbol for all being united by the snake. I think the two things wrapped around the couple are snakes reaching up to the heavens. A lot like the spiral symbol of the tower.

The snake seems to be made of elongated ventral scales like the ones depicted on the tapestry behind the throne in Volcano Manor, almost like a worm.
Spiral symbol in Enir Ilim are meant to, at least partially, represent this Serpent King, in addition to Enir Ilim as well as the Crucible. This is shown in its use of tower sorcery, and the shape of Enir Ilim itself.
There are multiple depictions of something like a traditional Caduceus or with snakes wrapped around a tree or staff. One is Messmer’s crest. Another is the Devourer’s Scepter. Most of its depictions in the Erdtree era are blasphemous. It shows up on the Depraved Perfumers and in volcano manor as does much of the spiral imagery. This suggests the spiral of the Caduceus is used as another symbol for the Crucible, made blasphemous in the Erdtree era.
The symbol of the Spiral Tower incantations, also on the Spiraltree Seal, is extremely suggestive of a caduceus again connecting the snake to Enir Ilim. The Spiraltree Seal implies a strong link between early Erdtree faith and Enir Ilim. It even may suggest that the Erdtree faith was represented by the staff/tree part of the Caduceus symbol, itself reminiscent of Marika’s rune. This would imply a union between the people of the Erdtree and the Serpent King at some point in their past.
I speculate that the way the modified crucifix becomes a symbol of Marika, the Crucible spiral could be a reference to a single/double helix caduceus and would invoke the Serpent King.
This Serpent King is the same as the one Rykard fed himself to.
The Serpent King is undying yet relatively absent in the history of the Lands Between, especially before the Erdtree Era. As mentioned earlier, the snake skin in the Temple of Eiglay is of the same snake as the one near Bonny Village. The only major difference is Rykard’s face is on the Temple of Eiglay’s snake skin.
The Blasphemous Blade and Rykard’s snake form features red waving limbs suggesting the devoured heroes still lived, in some form, within the serpent as “family.” This is consistent with Crucible Kingdom veneration for chimeric combinations and the “melding of flesh.” As Mirial says: “all things can be conjoined.” Their boss rooms are notably similar. The corpses are melding with the pillars and to each other in both locations which is consistent with attempting to make a god.
This suggests that the serpent Rykard fed himself to is the same as the one that was in Bonny Village. The same one that ruled Enir Ilim. By looking at the God-Devouring Snake, we may begin to get an idea what this Serpent King was like, how he may have fallen due to the lengths he goes to become a god, and why Marika would fear such an endlessly ambitious and gluttonous beginning to the point of hiding away her own child to suppress it.
Implications for Messmer:
With this, we circle back to the most snakely of them all in Elden Ring; Messmer. How is he connected to the Serpent King? The Rememberance of the Impaler states Messmer was “Hidden away—keeping company with the original sin, and a hatred that would not be confined.” We concluded above that the Original Sin is Marika’s betrayal of the Serpent King, so how is Messmer keeping company with the Original Sin? We can examine this question through Messmer’s Crest, found on the floor of Messmer’s boss room (in addition to promotional material).

Youtuber Hawkshaw made an excellent video analyzing this crest, specifically the fact that it features “Impalement.” That means the crest joins the two houses of a child of two houses. The left side facing the shield is the father’s side and the right side is the mother’s.
Here, the flame on the left and the braid on the right are separated by a spear literally impaled through the crest. We know the braid represents Marika because it’s shown wrapped around Messmer’s right eye, the one given to him by Marika to seal the snake inside him. The flame symbol on the crest would represent Messmer’s father.

So, who’s this other parent? I think there are two possibilities. One is Radagon, which raises really interesting questions about Radagon’s origins. The only other connection to flame he has is through his red hair and the fire giants they represent. Given that and his blacksmithing weapon, it’s possible Radagon was a fire giant or descended from one. He would have been cursed with fire given to him by the Fell God and would have needed to die and be reborn (like Radahn as the Promised Consort) to free himself from that fire. The only remaining evidence being Messmer’s fire and the crest in his boss room.
The second possibility is that the flame represents the Serpent King. In Elden Ring, the serpent is often connected to fire and magma, even more so than the multi-colored dragons. Given Messmer’s tangle of snakes, it’s possible not all the snakes are from one outer god’s curse, but instead come partially from Messmer’s father. This is further evinced by Messmer’s Winged Serpents and his flame being in conflict with the Base Serpent inside Messmer (see the Messmerflame and Winged Serpent Helm item descriptions).
The Original Sin is Marika betraying the Serpent King at the Gate of Divinity.
The clearest reference to the “Original Sin” in Elden Ring is Remembrance of the Impaler which says that Messmer is keeping company with the original sin. The things in his boss room that fit this are Messmer, his crest, and his snakes. The crest is as much evidence of her relationship to the Serpent King as Messmer was as we speculate on later.
This is further supported by Lady Leda’s use of the terms “seduction” and “affair” for Marika’s rise and Hornsent Grandam references to Marika as a “wanton strumpet.” If she betrayed her husband, the Serpent King, for another god or mortal, it would explain the sexual nature of the insults. It also is more suggestive that the Serpent King was Messmer’s supposed father.
The last reason is due to the Christian connection between the original sin and the snake. Elden Ring is rife with repurposed Christian terms and iconography. Marika’s rune is a modified crucifix, her godhood is also a metaphysically incomprehensible trinity, and her empire makes death (mostly) impossible in the same way the Biblical God has “conquered death.” As the serpent is inextricably linked to the original sin in Christianity, it would likely be similarly involved in Marika’s Original Sin
Given the Divine Rite Scroll, we know the Gate of Divinity ritual requires a vessel, a lord, and a god. I speculate Marika was meant to be the vessel and the Serpent King was meant to be the god. She didn’t even have to kill the Serpent King. Given Miquella’s use of the Gate of Divinity to resurrect Radahn, it’s possible the Serpent King killed himself believing Marika would resurrect him as her lord only for her to use someone else (likely Radagon) as a lord and usher in the Elden Beast instead.
A note on the DLC story trailer.
The trailer depicts Marika’s ascent to godhood. In it, she’s seen pulling threads of gold from a pile of bloody flesh. Since I saw someone suggest it was a snake, I can’t unsee the shape of a snakes head in that image, to the point I don’t trust my judgement. I will say that if it is a snake’s head, she’s pulling the golden threads from its eye, which is consistent with everything we know about where gold is usually found in the Lands Between.
TLDR: Enir Ilim was led by a Serpent King who was betrayed by Marika at the Gate of Divinity.

Not that I expected either of them to act like parents but I'm having surgery on Jan 28th for a full thyroid removal and neither of my parents has made an effort to reach out. Well I guess that's not quite true. Since I left her. My mom or her flying monkeys have called to tell my sister I'm on meth, I've stolen jewelry and money and that I'm lying about having cancer. Worst thing about it is I miss her sometimes. Not the crazy mom or the love bombing mom the mom. I guess TBH I'm missing something I never really had. I'm lucky though I walked away with my relationship with my sister and one brother still intact. Out of 7 of us kids at least 3 of us have seen the light or glimpsed the person behind the persona.
