I (23 m) and my sister "Sara" (21 w) accidentally may have brought an invasive species to our country after returning from a trip. So, me and Sara recently went on a trip to celebrate her graduating from university, a pretty common thing in our country, and she had always wanted to go to Bali, so our parents let the two of us and her boyfriend "Alex"(22) go together. We flew out from our country and had plans to spend the week all together at a rented house for the three of us. Night one we settled in and spent most of the week at the beach. It really begins night three when Sara and Alex told me after returning home that they wanted to go to dinner together and on a sunset hike. Our father had told me that I was there to help keep them safe (Alex is a very scrawny man) but I let them go as the trip is for her. I ended up getting dinner myself and was eating alone at the house.
Anyways she and Alex weren’t there the next day. I was very concerned and called her phone and found out they had gotten lost on the hike and ended up staying at a hostel the town over. They returned home that day and my sisters boyfriend was feeling sick. I assumed he was dramatic, he often is, and I was shocked to hear him suggest to my sister that we should leave early. I was against this, but she called my father and as she is her favorite he said okay and moved our tickets to that night. We had about 4 hours to pack and get to the airport.
At the airport, there was not too much security so we got lucky and made it to the flight just on time for the flight home. We returned home and I was so upset at my sister I took a week to unpack my suitcase. Here’s where the real issue starts. My sister calls me and says her boyfriend had unpacked his suitcase and thought maybe I had one of his shirts packed in mine, so I decided to open mine to see if it was there. When I did, about five small flies flew out, and a rotten smell came from a small bag of mangos I had hurriedly packed. The suitcase was disgusting, and I couldn’t get the smell out of it, so I threw it away.
Almost a year later now, I am seeing a news story that invasive species of fruit flies from Asia had been discovered on a farm and the government was very concerned. There are some scientists saying that invasive species can enter from suitcases, and I am very concerned that our ruined trip could’ve been the cause.
So, am I the asshole, or is it my sisters stupid boyfriend?

So my cycle recently came to a close which means I can rip the bandaid off at risk of doxing myself because I have some things to say. 4 years ago I was a young expecting mom leaving my advisor’s office with tears in my eyes after she suggested that I keep other career options in mind. I wish I could say I didn’t give up- but I did. My mission for the next couple of years became to just get any degree at all and make as much money as I could, as soon as possible. I knew what the statistics were for young women like me, I knew what the statistics said for my child, and I knew the expectation everyone around me had. Alas- something in me never let me fully quit. I knew I would never be happy doing anything else, so I stayed up the late nights and I worked around the clock to be a student, employee, and sole provider.
I write this to say- whatever your circumstances are- you are your limits. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. The statistics said my education was over 4 years ago, constrained to a life of hardship. Everyone around me believed it too even if they didn’t say it out loud. If I could go back, the only thing I’d change is I’d tell 19 year old me everything is going to be okay and give her a big hug. If you are 19 year old me- please, dare to dream!

Hello all, my buddy uploaded some repeaters off his radio via CHIRP. I was having a few issues when he realized that he a the v2 radio. We transferred the repeaters over to the X1 radio and uploaded. Now I am not able to hear him on the radio when transmitting but see the receive meter ping. If I turn the monitor on I can hear his transmission. Does anyone know of a setting that could have been changed during this debacle that would cause this?

So I am what one calls a "chub chaser" - I very much prefer a more burly, bearish type. However, my body is tall and athletic. I never really thought much about until the other day I was at a party with some fellow gays, a few were new to me. When they discovered it, one asked me (drunkly) if I hate my body. I thought it was a weird question, but I pressed for more information.
In essence, this gay was confused as I am not a bear, nor do I have any desire to "become" one (honestly, I think even if I tried, it wouldn't work - genetics and all that.) He was confused because he has a body/working towards a body that he finds attractive. In other words, he wants to be what he is attracted to. Some of the other gays there agreed.
I never really thought about it this way. Do I hate my body? No more than other gay guys hate theirs, I think. But I also don't look in the mirror and think "damn I wanna fuck that" - I think more "damn, my big bear belly with rugby thighs boyfriend likes this body." If that makes sense?
Shortly after I went to a bear night at a bar (why we need our own special night, I will never know) and this conversation came back to me. As I looked around, I was very attractive to the majority of the bears there - on a purely physical level. But I did not look like them. I was not "one of them." Maybe it was the vodka shots, but it sort of tripped me up and made me think ugly thoughts about myself.
I don't really have a pithy question...but, like, do you want the body you are attracted to?

Hello everyone, i'm gonna be clear. I couldn't update an extension I use, but I could install themes, and due to circumstances I format my computer. then when I install blender again, I couldn't install anything, the api extension simply stop working, i coulnd't even install it from local, I even try to drop em in the blender folders. then the extensions appears on the list, but won't even appear in the viewport. literally, i can't install anything. i install python as one user say on blender forums, but still not working i try install it from the web, steam, microsoft store, different version, and nothing is working.
i just get this simple message and nothing more.
anyone knows what to do or i just need to use other program?

2025.01.25 04:02 Protist00 Unlawful stop / Cop gave an additional ticket once I started to ask questions
An officer decided to make a u-turn behind me while I was waiting at a red light, initially thinking I did not have a front plate. I was then pulled over and asked "Do you have a front plate" I proceeded to tell the officer "Yes I do" and he went and looked. After seeing I had a front plate and confirming that it was visible, the officer then took my information went to his car and came back to give me a ticket for "Obstruct rear plate". (Yes I do have a license plate cover and am aware of the laws, that's not what this is about before someone comments "Suck it up and pay the ticket"). Something the officer could not have seen before deciding to pull me over as he was in the oncoming lane, this makes me question the validity of that ticket, is this not considered an unlawful stop? (genuine question I don't know the laws on that) The officer made a mistake and after confirming I have a front plate, which was the reason for the stop, should that not be the end of it. After the officer presented this ticket, he did not ask if I had any questions. I spoke up and said "I'm not asking this to be rude but how could you tell my rear plate was obstructed before pulling me over when you made a u-turn to pull me over due to no front plate." He began to say things such as "How do you know I made a u-turn to pull you over" "What? Am I not allowed to make a u-turn." and similar things while I continued to question if this was an unlawful stop (I asked literally 3 questions that took 10 seconds to answer) until the officer said "You know what, stay right here, I'm going to go write you another ticket." An act that was clearly in retaliation for me asking questions about the first ticket. While the officer started walking away I said "Can you call your supervisor." The officer did not respond. He then returned with a "Window obstruct" ticket and informed me that it was because my rear windows were tinted too dark. I brought up how there is no limit on rear window tint and showed the law on my phone, he disregarded me and said "I'm not gonna look at something on google", I also brought up how it is unlawful to give me another ticket as an act of retaliation because I asked questions about the first ticket. The officer said "How can you say it's an act of retaliation, I'm allowed to change my mind at any point during a stop." and I began once again asking for the supervisor. The officer repeatedly said things like "For what", "Why", "I'm not taking back any tickets", etc but after asking 10+ times (this will be confirmed once the audio recording is received) the officer called his supervisor. When the supervisor arrived I informed him of the incident, how I was given a ticket as an act of retaliation, how I believe the stop was unlawful, and how the officer tried to deter me numerous times from getting a supervisor there. The supervisor spoke to the officer and confirmed that the second "Window obstruct" ticket was for the rear windows, but there is no limit on rear window tint, and said he can take that ticket back and drop it, but that I would have to fight the first ticket in court, and also informed me about the LECA website to report this officers behaviour, which I did. I'll be taking it to court and am 99% sure it will be dropped but am wondering. Would this not be considered an unlawful stop? (I've seen people saying they can pull you over just because they feel like it) and, Would the second ticket not be considered an act of retaliation for trying to ask questions?
