Hello. This is Anthony Silva. I am an incoming fourth-year student at Oregon State University double majoring in computer science and mathematics. I am looking at staying on campus for my last year, mostly because I am too busy to be able to live off campus. I have been living in Buxton Hall for the past two years, but am wanting a change due to the issues the quad building has had, which has annoyed me. I am considering Tebeau and Halsell hall next year. The ILLC won't be a good option for me due to inflated pricing there, and Bloss has had many building issues since I started here. Not to mention how far those two dorms are from basically everything. Would anyone like to provide insight about the dorms at Tebeau and Halsell?

Keling/Kling - This term was historically used in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore to refer to Every Indian, even tho it is derived from the ancient Odia kingdom of Kalinga.
And the reason for it was Kalinga being a rich and dominant region with rich maritime trade history with Southeast Asia, Ancient Kalinga had a huge cultural influence on Southeast Asia in fact the first Southeast Asian kingdom 'Funan' is said to be established by an Odia trader 'Kaundinya'.
Something similar happened with Netherlands, they were often referred to as 'Holland' because it's was a dominant coastal region for a long time.
How it turned into a slur
Over time as India got Inavded looted and it's prosperity vanished, the term "Keling" gained negative connotations, particularly due to its association with colonial-era racial hierarchies and tensions between ethnic groups in Southeast Asia.
In modern times, the word "Keling" is considered highly offensive and derogatory in many Southeast Asian countries, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia. It is used to belittle or insult people of Indian descent, often with racist overtones.
In countries like Malaysia, the use of the word "Keling" in public discourse can lead to legal consequences, as it is considered a racial slur that violates anti-discrimination laws.

I recently applied for the Customer Service Agent (CSA) position with Alaska Airlines, and Iâm curious about the typical hiring timeline.
Hereâs my timeline so far:
Applied: 01/17/2025 Video interview/assessment sent: 01/20/2025 Completed: 01/21/2025 (early A.M.) Emailed People Solutions about application status: 01/24/2025
As of today, I havenât heard anything back, and when I log into the applicant portal, my status still says "Assessment Process." I've worked for many airlines before and their hiring process for a low-level airport position has never been this lengthy, or quiet.
Iâm wondering if this is normal for Alaska Airlinesâ hiring process, or if I should start worrying that Iâm out of the running. Has anyone gone through this process and can share what their timeline looked like? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

2025.01.26 06:33 Ienjoyeatingbeans Update on severely wounded stray I posted about earlier today
Itâs almost 1:30 am and I just left the emergency vet I had I drive 1.5 hours to get to and I think Iâve been here since around 7pm. I signed off on $800 worth of procedures but they first wanted to test him for leukemia because if he tested positive it would made his recovery nearly impossible from what I understand.
He unfortunately tested positive and the vet recommend euthanasia. He just took his last breath in my arms a little bit ago. I didnât expect this to hit me this hard, I cried like a baby. Iâm glad that he found his way back to my doorstep after being so severely injured, or else he would have had a long and miserable death.
Itâs disappointing because he would have made a great pet and I was looking forward to helping him recover and then spoiling him. Iâll always remember him following me around the yard and garden. He was a sweet boy.
My only regret is not taking him in over the summer, but the leukemia still would have took him in the end. Rest easy my dude!!!

I get these small clear fluid filled bumps on my hands and fingers (usually just one or two of them every couple of months) they last for weeks and DO NOT STOP draining fluid. They can be very painful at times and the heal into super hard round scabs with a hole in the middle. Anyone have an idea of what this is?

Hier soir j'ai remarqué un orgelet mais je ne savais pas ce que c'était donc ce matin je regarde sur msdmanuals.com de quoi il s'agit. Je n'aurais jamais dû faire ça mais pour en informer ma mÚre, je lui envoie une capture d'écran.
Sur la capture d'écran il était écrit qu'il fallait des antibiotiques et que trÚs souvent un drainage chirurgical était nécessaire pour l'orgelet interne.
Résultat elle se met à me hurler dessus depuis son lit en me disant que c'est rien et que ça part tout seul.
Il faut savoir que ma mÚre croit en l'homéopathie, est antivax, croit les médecins qui vont dans son sens et dit que les médecins qui pensent pas comme elle sont nuls. Donc je ne risque pas de lui faire confiance.
LĂ je vais aller voir un mĂ©decin mais je poste au cas oĂč je ne trouve pas de mĂ©decin ou en attendant..

If it is below the minimum wage it essentially modern day slavery. They have no where else to go. Maybe a result of no undocumented workers might result in higher prices of goods but to just say âdonât deport them, they are the reason we have affordable foodâ is bullshit. We are talking about people, right? Iâm assuming itâs close to $7 an hour. Maybe more maybe less.
If itâs a nice rate of $20 an hr I wonât be upset but Iâm assuming itâs much less. Itâs just kinda funny to me to think that those disagreeing with deportation also think that itâs ok to pay field workers less. If they werenât being paid less, than there would be plenty of job openings.
These are people weâre talking about. Just because they are willing to take less then what youâre used to and also have no other place to go doesnât make them lesser than you.
TLDR; immigrant workers are basically slaves and need to be helped. Protesting for 11 hours does nothing.
