2025.01.26 07:06 TheBreadsticc My 1099 is wrong, and they won't send me a new one.
I dashed for about 3 months in early 2024, it was a little side thing I did to fill in a gap between jobs. Nothing huge, only made $730 and I wasn't dashing full time. I got my 1099, and it claims I was paid almost $1K. Huh? I went back and checked EVERYTHING. All of my earnings statements in the dasher app added up to $730. I never used the Dasher Direct thing, so that adds nothing. My Stripe Express account showed $730 for the year. My bank statements from doordash totaled $730. Everything added up except the 1099.
So, I called support, and my case got escalated, and they told me they'd call back within 48 hrs. 3 days later, I haven't been contacted. So I call again, they escalate the case again and tell me I will be called in 24 hrs. 2 or 3 days later, still nothing. I call again and insist I get transferred instead of escalated, and the lady was so sweet, she tried but they told her she can only escalate my case. Not much I can do, I suppose!
Hours later, I get an email from the escalations team, and the only information they sent was a PDF detailing all of my earnings for the year ... it totaled $730. But there was nothing else in the email, just the PDF, no offer to send me an updated 1099, no acknowledgement of the issue at all, just a vague little "as you requested, here is a document that lists all of your earnings".
I'm not sure what game they're playing, but I'm going to report my actual earnings, not this made up number on the 1099. Wish me luck, and look out. Your 1099 could be incorrect too.

I am currently writing a slashesupernatural horror novel. Basically, it is about a teenage girl, Ella, who is investigating a masked Christian traditionalist killer called The Hand of God (who is eventually revealed to be her girlfriend Liv's older brother Peter), who is killing queer women. He also has a cat-and-mouse dynamic with her where he lusts after her and sends her creepy mail and gifts (as she is a lesbian, this obviously has no chance of going anywhere, but he doesn't care). He has demonic powers thanks to having a symbiotic bond with a demon, making him basically unstoppable, and he also has to eat human flesh.
Anyway, my mother doesn't seem all that happy with my book. She said it was "disturbing" and "promoted violence against women,", and I should write more light hearted fare. Uh, what? Basically the entire point of the book is what an utter irredeemable piece of shit Peter and men like him are, and how you shouldn't be like him. I specifically avoided giving him any redeeming qualities in order to drive this point home. Yet somehow, my mom thinks that I shouldn't write it because she doesn't like these kinds of stories. Yeah, no. I'm still going to write it. Hope she comes around, I really do, but I will keep writing it either way.

2025.01.26 07:06 OWSpaceClown So is LCARS actually user friendly? Or is it like every industrial piece of software I've ever used - unweidly, ugly, near incomprehensible and requires six steps just to do simple tasks?
I'm thinking some of the real estate software I used to have to prototype while work was in progress, with no care taken for ease of use and tons of obvious bugs.
Or, *looks over shoulder* if anyone here was used mykronos before, you might relate to having to do 6 steps on two seperate devices just to login.
It sure seems that anytime we get a close look at an LCARS screen there isn't even a remote hint as to how it works. We just assume our Starfleet Officers (or Bajoran Militia) know how to operate it, but do they do it because it's easy or out of spite?

TL;DR: A compounder at an Apollo Pharmacy store repeatedly prevents my girlfriend from using her Apollo points, making excuses like “server is down” or falsely claiming she doesn’t have points. He does this intentionally to tease her and even smiles while doing it. This behavior has been going on since 2021, and he once texted her on her personal number back then.
Yesterday, I went with my girlfriend to an Apollo Pharmacy near her home to buy medicines for her father. She frequently shops there and has accumulated a significant number of Apollo points (she estimated over 1.5k).
When we got to the store, the compounder told her she only had 500 points. When she started questioning him, he kept arguing. As she began installing the app to check the exact amount, he suddenly admitted she had 1,500 points. We redeemed them, got the medicines, and left.
A short while later, we realized we had forgotten one more medicine. This time, I waited outside on my bike, expecting her to be back in a minute or two. Instead, it took her 15 minutes. When she came out, she was fuming.
She told me the same compounder was once again trying to stop her from using her points, coming up with lame excuses like he always does. He apparently does this just to tease her, smiling the entire time as if he enjoys wasting her time. This has been a pattern for years—she told me it started back in 2021.
On top of that, he had texted her on her personal number in 2021 (though she no longer has the chats), which seems like another clear overstep.
This behavior feels deliberately unprofessional and harassing. My girlfriend has to waste 15 minutes every time because of his antics, even though it’s her right to use those points. Apollo’s points system is meant to reward loyal customers, and it’s frustrating that she has to deal with this nonsense repeatedly.
I’m wondering if anyone else has faced similar behavior at Apollo Pharmacy, and what can be done about this. Should we escalate it to Apollo’s management?
Would appreciate any advice on how to handle this.

Hi,
Trying to add an outer light ray + glow effect to this media, but I can't add it the way I want, without it having a black background. Unticking Use Alpha in the Light Rays inspector takes out the black background, but gets rid of the exterior light ray and glow that I want to keep.
I've tried rendering in place and using a Luma key, but the outwards glow comes out all black and weird.
How do I get rid of this black background, and keep the effect I want? I'm open to different ways of applying that glow that I want.
How I want the picture to look in front of other media, note the exterior glow, but it has a black background
How the timeline looks when I untick 'Use Alpha'
How the timeline looks with the photo rendered in place and hit with a Luma Key. Close to what I want but the blur isn't see-through
